View Full Version : Does anyone else have this?
WolfOnTheHill 10-18-2007, 09:05 PM i dont have a true 6 pack but the shape of one is there, i have around 8 or 9 percent body fat and am pretty fit and muscley, but when i totally relax my stomach, it flops out and looks as if iv never done a crunch, is this normal?
Darkstar 10-18-2007, 09:11 PM Its just your genetics. Not much you can do about it.

No shit.
Youre genes are weak.
Darkstar 10-18-2007, 09:26 PM I wouldnt say weak. Of course, im sure you could do other things to improve. Different things your not doing now. Sounds like better posture would help. I was in the same boat too.

Try to fix your posture and clean your stomach. You might also have some water retention problems.

By the sound of what he is talking about this has nothing to do with genes.

Drink more water and less sugary drinks as in Gatorade and soda.It makes your stomach bloat. Also running can change that around or a balanced calorie diet.
greengloves 10-19-2007, 12:05 AM some lower abdominal exercises can "stretch" your abs and give you that potbelly look, knee-ups, hanging leg or knee raise and the like you should pay close attention during the eccentric phase, if you go too far (back, down etc) itll stretch them.
GrizzleBoy 10-19-2007, 05:12 AM I think some thing people were saying about posture has some truth. Im in the same boat as you i know i have the muscles there and im not mr chubby or anything like that, but i have a terrible posture.
When i stand upright my lower back dips inward and downwards and my ass kinda pushes itself out (like how a lady would if she was posing, gay as it sounds.... ) which makes my stomach push outwards.
But when I push my ass forwards and try to straighten my back everything looks better.

Fact: Women are heavily attracted to men with good posture, holding their chins high.
Im sorry about the genetics comment. I'm a jerk. Forgive me! *Cries*
GrizzleBoy 10-19-2007, 05:25 AM What things can you actually do to improve your posture though?
Salty 10-19-2007, 05:39 AM walk around with good posture all the time and don't slouch
TheWolf 10-19-2007, 05:49 AM Pull your shoulders back and keep your spine straight.
Over do it at first, and keep your chin up. Eventually youll find a posture thats comfortable.
WolfOnTheHill 10-19-2007, 06:27 AM i feel kinda shit about my stomach now, its not like my belly hangs out when i walk, i eat well, so its not fat, i was kinda hoping everyone would be the same as me.
but when i say i relax then my belly hangs out, i mean i TOTALLY relax, as in my posture will slouch alot, i been working on my posture this year so standing straight isn't yet natural to me
i just checked now, i took my top off and stood with a great posture in front of the mirror and my stomach was totally fine
GrizzleBoy 10-19-2007, 06:33 AM Do you people with good posture actually have to put effort and constant thought into keeping it that way? Like what if i loose concentration and forget to have good posture lol :Z

i do, and it sucks, i just dont want a fukt back when am older, you just gotta get used to it
ForemanCrossArm 10-19-2007, 08:57 AM i only have an outline really, it's mostly because i'm tall tho, and how i carry my weight. i have iffy posture tho.. i think your problem could be a mix of genetics and the things mentioned here (awesome thread by the way, very informative). genes play a role, even if we don't want to admit it. you can't look at other people and not notice the OBVIOUS differences in body type, mold, etc...

Do ab and back exercises(that's just physical)

Posture has little to do with genes, more like with weak muscle development and bad habits.
Also, if you do everything right, there is nothing that should prevent you from having a decent sixpack. Unless you are just one of these people who are naturally fat.
DA1CATAS 10-19-2007, 11:58 AM How about I use to be a lil heavy... Now im not . WHY? because I train like i'm old school with new school techniques.
RUN and Swim (You see theres no OR in there)
many of you own a sledge hammer.many of you own a tire. How many of you actually use it?
How many push-ups are you seriously hitting straight? are you doing atleast 50 a set?
Medicine ball should be your friend if your a boxer.
Do you shadow box with intensity? Do you conserve energy for the next phase or your workout?
Thats why theres probably only about 3 gifted people here and 3 hard workers that could actually **** wit my routine.
Step ya ****in game up *****s cuz its not gonna be a strong move to box if you don't.

i know, i wasn't saying that. it somewhat does, as gay as this sounds... i was watchin americas next top model last night and this bitch had this really low form of autism and it affected how she walked and her posture.
it sucks for me cuz when i do floor work and lock legs with people i'm so f'n tall that people barely anchor me so i am prob stretching my bottom ab muscles like someone posted about before. friggin hell!

you dont have 8-9% body fat your abs become defined at that stage and their is no gut...

the floor would stop you from "stretching" them i think(unless you arc your back, then maybe). besides if someone is holding your feet its an upper ab move. Im no expert but thats how i understand it.

both people are doing the exercise, we lock legs for half of our stomache work. and my torso is just soooo long. most of my height is literally gained from between the bottom of my ribcage to the top of the pelv..
