View Full Version : Do you eat before training/bed if youre trying to lose weight?
slurpee 10-17-2007, 11:31 PM my friend told me to eat healthy foods and eat as much as i can cause of all the calories burned from training, but i'm trying to lose some weight. Is it just a myth that you shouldnt eat before training to burn fat? also do you eat before bed?
samoram 10-18-2007, 12:42 AM yea eat your fruit in the moring or mid day, otherwise your body will convert the sugar to fat when u sleep, your body will convert pretty much anything to fat if u eat before you go to bed because you dont burn it through out the day.

not true. that is a myth.
Rane-Ex54 10-18-2007, 10:48 AM If your trying to lose weight do not eat after dinner time. Eat in small increments throughout the day to keep your metabolism going. Don't eat crap food, eat lean meats, fruits, veggies, whole wheat carbs.
On weekends, when i don't have to work, I'll wake up on an empty stomach and do my training. I feel much better, plus I've read stories of this being good for you. If you do eat before you train, wait 2 hours for the food to digest before you start to train. You don't wanna feel too weighted or puke while your doing your thing. Just my opinion.
DA1CATAS 10-18-2007, 10:49 AM I follow no eating program. I jus train hard.
Think about it.

Thats Fine, I train hard too. But next time you go out for a chinese buffet, and you wake up the next morning to train, think about how you feel :tapedshut

Queensdawg 10-18-2007, 08:46 PM a few things..
as soon as you wake up, its not good to train hard.. a light jog is good.. speeds up the metabolism..
eat ever 3 hrs.. even be4 bed.. ur body is in fat burning mode when you eat healthy often.. boosts the metabolism
nutrition helps tho dacatas.. like, im thin regaurdless.. about a buck fifty, but wen i eat healthy throughout the day.. like eating apples and stuff, or carrots.. i feel so much more energetic than if i were to eat like shitty snacks like cookies or chips.. u kno. thats my take.. ive never followed a strict diet..
Tyson Jones 10-18-2007, 08:51 PM I eat out at a chinese buffet about 3 days aweek and train very hard and eat all the time. Im 4 percent body fat, 5 foot 11 and weigh 177 pounds right now.
Dorian 10-18-2007, 08:52 PM don't eat for 2 days... then eat 1 day and then not again for 2 days...
just kidding eat a lot of fruits and veggies and don't eat after 8:00 OM
ForemanCrossArm 10-19-2007, 03:57 AM i eat a big breakfast a 7 am. a healthy lunch at about noon if i'm going to be at the gym between 3-7. if i'm going to a boxing class (5 & 8 on weds and mondays) then i'll comeback and eat a big dinner between them.
i'm a health NUT. i haven't had fast food in a long time. haven't had a real candy bar in probably a year.. it sucks. but it's actually easy for me. so, why not? it gives you SUCH an advantage in training, honestly, eating right. if you have the right fuel then you have the right tools.
i'm sittin at a fit 180/6'5"-ish right now.
bigsmoothh 10-19-2007, 04:01 AM i eat alot, everyday then i just stop eatin about 730 then i do the samething the next day.

Yeah, incredible fighting shape right there.
LMAO.
beerneer 10-19-2007, 07:32 AM I'd advise not to eat for at least 2 hours before you go to bed. Also I'd like to stress some advise someone else shared in the previous page: Divide your meals into smaller portions to keep your metabolism going and not store all the carbs and fats. You can only burn so much, and even just an hour between the divided meals is enough (unless you spend that time behind the computer).
I was 165 two months ago, with approx. 6 percent body fat and that was the heaviest I'd ever been. Being 5'11" and usually walking around at a big 152 (people often think I'm 168), my body was more sluggish and even though I had a significant increase in power I knew I'd done something wrong. The reason was eating whatever I liked, whether it was oatmeal or a bucket of KFC, I ate whenever I wanted. After not working out for 6 weeks I decided to trim down to get a leaner more agile body, while allowing myself to get more speed without sacrificing power. Being 160 at the time I started eating healthy (tuna, oatmeal, lots of fruits and juices, pasta for dinner) and I didn't lose a pound while trimming down rapidly and only improving on my training.
My point is, hard work+healthy meals will get you a lot farther a lot faster
ForemanCrossArm 10-19-2007, 08:52 AM Yeah, incredible fighting shape right there.
LMAO.
considering i'm going to be fighting at 175, yeah, it's not too bad.
the most important is the total amount of kcals not whan you eat em
ForemanCrossArm 10-19-2007, 09:57 AM i agree with that, to a certain extent. but i think you need to maintain some activity within 10 hours of eating (who doesn't tho?) because it does take only 5 hours for your body to digest food. which is pretty short..
ForemanCrossArm 10-19-2007, 09:58 AM but shit i just had 2 bowls of wheaties & skim milk, 4 glasses of water, 10 hardboil eggs (no yolks), and a banana with a lil peanut butter on it. haha.
