Would fat people take body shots better than skinny people? Would their fat absorb the punch without taking much damage?

It depends if the guy has a solid gut or is just pure flab. I've put on about 20 lbs. since getting married and I have a little gut. But I'm in good shape and when I clich my stomach muscles my gut is a rock.

I think dudes who are just flabby jello can't take much of a punch. A buddy of mine from the highschool wrestling team got into a fight with a guy about 90 lbs heavier than him but he kicked the kids ass. He punched him in the gut and the kid keeled over.

It doesn't matter if your a fat ass or a muscle man, if you get caught in the right spot it's all over. As soon as the wind is knocked out of you the fights lost unless you have a quick recovery rate.

I've seen guys with 6 pack abs get folded from body punches. Some people can take them others can't. That's all there is to it. I can take them. A million of them.

Its bizzar, but for some reason fat guys absorb body shot better than skinny people. Muscular guys its alot harder to hurt than any of the previous choices. But you can break a fat guy down with body shots.

It all depends on what sort of shot you land. If it is a snapping shot, then the fat will absorb it. If it is a penetrating shot, then that will do the trick nicely. Especially if the muscle underneath the fat is underdeveloped.

Point well taken. If you dig with a left hook instead of popping it in there, you will do much more damage. But against a skinny kid whose soft, a liver shot will kill them.

I've been doing a lot of ab work lately. I actually have a good set of abs they're just buried under all that beer. So really i can take a good body shot. My step dad hit me there once and he's about twice my size. Never felt a thing.

IF you are soft, you will be killed PERIOD. If you are in better shape, then your ability to recover quickly is greater.

Believe it or not most fat people have low self esteem a shot to the body gets most of them thinking. Not so much cus it hurt but because they are fat. As for hits in the face hurts the same.

I knocked a fat dude down during sparring. In the first round he went down from a jab to the gut. In the second round he hit me with a few good shots. In the third he quit because I kept hooking to his body. His breathing became labored so he just quit. I'm not saying that fat people could or can't but that is an example of poor conditioning.

There is absolutely no sense in going to the body on a really fat ****. If a guy is out of shape...and in need of toning in his midsection...then yeah. A big fat guy on the other hand has about 50 lbs of pure cushion and insulation. Their waist is huge....and like George Foreman says...that's how you can absorb body shots.

I like to spar......and my friends can take body shots well. I on the other hand cant, but I can take it on the chin better than any of my friends.

I'm 6'2 180 but I have a 30 inch waist. That's easy to break.

First of all, if you got into a fight in scool and a kid hit you in the stomach while you had him in the head-lock, it means neither of you can fight. A head lock is a neck crank which does nothing but put a fighter who doesn't know what to do against it in an uncomfortable possition. Punching in the stomach while in a head lock doesn't give anybody sufficient leverage to cause damage. If you had been hit with a good hook to your gut while fighting toe to toe you would have went down. Weather your fat or skinny, if you can't take a body-shot your gonna fall. I've knocked out two fat guys with good hooks to the gut. I have beaten skinny guys too like that. It all comes down to conditioning. Body shots take a toll on you. Especially if your fat because you can not breath properly if your fat and out of shape. I don't think this thread is silly. Obesity is pretty serious. When you can't get up after a good body shot, you should consider losing weight and not trying to put people WWE moves.

to me a head lock is causing them other pain before you you keep turning and flip himn the ground...then continuing to dominate him on the ground attack

not a headlock where I was behind him if thats what you mean. I dont watch the WWE, nor do I practice fighting alot, Im only fourteen. He was bent over with his head facing the ground and the top of his pointing towards me. He had leverage, but not a lot I guess. I dont usually get in fights either. Its not like I practiced and planned it. I guess I could watch some UFC videos though.

That's exactly what I was talking about. Those kind of head-locks are the ones you shouldn't do. I remember when I was a kid. Those side headlocks were the trademark for stupidity. I'm not saying your a stupid, kid. Your moving in the right dierection if you decide on watching UFC tapes. When I started taking Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I started watching UFC DVD's and I started practicing my moves. When it was time for class I would apply them and I was ahead of all the beginners. As far as the body shots not hurtung you, because your fat. I think you should join a boxing gym. It will help you lose weight and it will help you have respect for a body shot. Or any other shot.
