DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Tonya Harding is ready for her next bout -- a May 9 fight at an Iowa casino for the figure skater-turned-boxer.
Jeff Hargis, Harding's trainer and manager, and Paul Scieszinski, the president of Des Moines-based Capital Promotions, confirmed Monday the deal is signed for the fight at Lakeside Casino Resort in Osceola.
Scieszinski said the 32-year-old Harding and her entourage will be paid between $10,000 and $11,000. Organizers hope to have an opponent this week.
``We're negotiating between a couple people,'' Scieszinski said. ``But we think it's going to be a girl from Iowa.''
Harding, linked to the 1994 knee-whacking of rival skater Nancy Kerrigan, is 2-1 as a boxer. Scieszinski said the 5-foot-1, 120-pounder is about 15 pounds heavier than when she skated.
(Editors Note: Not sure if most of that has gone to her ass or her head).
