MMAWeekly.com has learned the following over the past 24 hours regarding the Tito Ortiz situation. There is a possibility that Ortiz may not only NOT have a deal with the WWE, but his future in the UFC is very much up in the air.

The problem is basically this. Ortiz's contract in the UFC is basically locked in for four more fights. The contract is iron clad. From what we understand the WWE won't even think about touching Ortiz according to a few reports from some insiders, including Dave Meltzer who told MMAWeekly that the WWE won't even make an offer because they don't want to buy out his contract, period. So despite Oritz talking with Titan Sports this past week, it now looks like the deal is dead.

Remember the WWE is going through cutbacks of their own and here was an interesting statement that was made by someone close to WWE. "We can't really see giving Tito a guaranteed contract (from the WWE) because as of now it wouldn't be that much more to what he was making in the UFC."

Now here's the even bigger story. It's unclear if Tito and Zuffa are at a point to even work a deal. Some people question if the damage between the two is irrepairable. From all accounts not only has Liddell and Couture been agreed upon, but it WILL be for the title. This has been agreed upon verbally and has been confirmed to MMAWeekly by BOTH camps.

Contracts though have not been signed, so you wonder if Tito will try to work himself into the June show. IF that is even possible at this point, as Zuffa is pretty upset about the entire situation

So, what are they stripping Tito of his title?

You know how bad this will look if one of our sports biggest stars jumps to the WWF. It would be different if he was getting ready to retire or was injured or something.

If Tito doesn't get his head out of his ass, in 2 years he will be an afterthought in the MMA world.

What a soap opera! **** that! All mma fighters should get paid well, however if you are only making 10 dollars promoting the fights, you cannot give anyone alot of money. I dont know how much zuffa brings in, but it looks like they simply cant afford the price tag and is moving on.
