UFC: What are your thoughts on you UFC debut? How did it feel?

Genki: I am very honored to be a part of the largest and finest MMA event in the world. I became a professional fighter, because I wanted to be in the UFC. So it felt great!!

UFC: You did very well. You bring an interesting style to the Octagon. Describe your style and tell us why you fight the way you do.

Genki: Thank you. I always try to do my best. The style I fight is based on the "Bushido" the Samurai way. I don't just mean the fighting technique, but the whole philosophy based on how to live as a warrior is the bases on my fighting style. The image I have is that I am like a liquid, not a solid matter. And being like water means I can be in any shapes and forms, adapting myself to win any fight.

UFC: What do you think of your next opponent, Duane Ludwig?

Genki: I know that he has won a match against Jens Pulver, so he must be very good. I am honored to be matched up with him.

UFC: How are you training to prepare for this fight?

Genki: I always prepare myself for the fight with not only physical training and technique practicing, but mental training. It is the Samurai way to have all three elements - physique, technique, and spirit, trained and well balanced.

UFC: Who are you training with and where are you training?

Genki: In America, I train at Beverly Hills Jiu-Jitsu Club. When I am in Japan, I train with various top fighters in deferent styles, and special physical trainers. I go to a super high-tech gym called "Total Workout", run Kevin Yamazaki. Then I go to man-to-man, down to earth, old-school training without any big equipment in Kiguch Dojo. I learn kickboxing. I learn Karate. I train in super cross training.

UFC: Will we see any new wild techniques from you in this fight?

Genki: Yes, of course. Really wild stuff!

UFC: What will your entrance be for this fight?

Genki: It is going to be a surprise. I consider the entrance, a part of the match, therefore I do the best I can to do an entrance people enjoy.

UFC: Why the nickname, "Neo Samurai"? What does it mean and where does it come from?

Genki: "Neo Samurai" means having an ancient Samurai Spirit in futuristic style… Without the Samurai hairdo.

UFC: For one of your fights in K-1, you came out dressed as Bucket Head from Guns N Roses. Are you a big fan of Bucket Head?

Genki: I am not really a big fan of Guns N Roses. I am a big fan of Bucket Head. He influenced me my style of fighting.

UFC: What do you think about Tank Abbott's return to the UFC?

Genki: I am a fan, and since I am a Japanese, I'm glad that I may have an opportunity to get a picture taking with him!!

UFC: What did you think about the fight between BJ Penn and Caol Uno at UFC 41?

Genki: I wish I was in the octagon with them.

UFC: If you were to get a shot at the title, which one would you want to fight?

Genki: It does not matter. I will fight both of them if I have to. At the same time if I have to...well, maybe not at the same time. But, both of them are great fighters who deserve to be a champion. I would love to take the title away from either one of them.

UFC: What do you think about Matt Serra? A lot of people want to see you fight him.

Genki: Matt Serra is a good friend of mine. He is a very nice guy and a great fighter.

UFC: After you defeated Leigh Remedios, you held up the UN flag which reads "We Are All One". What is the significance of that?

Genki: I don't have any opinion on the UN itself, but I hold up the UN flag, because it is a symbol of the world. I want people to know that "WE ARE ALL ONE" and I am hoping to keep all the fighting in the octagon cage.

UFC: How many tattoos do you have?

Genki: One on my back, two on my left arm, and one on my right arm.

UFC: Which tattoo is your favorite?

Genki: The bird on my back.

UFC: What do all your tattoos mean?

Genki: The bird on my back is my design, inspired by the ground pattern on the Nezka, Peru. The left arm's symbol is the symbol of life for one of the Native American tribes. The letters under that one are Hindu letters meaning "Everything is gonna be alright". The right arm tattoo is a graphic of four Chinese characters meaning "Genki Nyorai" - my own creation of a Buda.
