View Full Version : Congrats Manny!!!
Ang tamlay nya, not as aggresive as he used to be tapos walang focus. Tama nga yung iba sa inyo, MONEY FIGHT lang to.
EDIT:

Sayang, Manny didn't win by KO, but a win is a win is a win!!!
Some credit should be given to Barrera for doing his homework and taking the trouble to make an excellent preparation for this fight.
Of course, in the end Manny still prevailed.
Time to celebrate!!! :friday: :friday: :friday:

D ko napansin yung fight night wieght-in nilang dalawa... pero kahapon sa weight-in nila ok namna, he did manage to have 135 lbs...
Nabasa ko din sa mga ibang forums that manny is having a hard time managing the weight gwang masyadong mabigat daw sya sa pagtre-training...

Counter Puncher 10-07-2007, 08:53 PM First of all congrats to the idol!
Eto naman ang tingin ko. Nakita naman natin kung ano itsura at galaw ni Manny nung tinalo nya si EM sa huling laban nila, which for me was his best shape ever. So yun na ang naging benchmark ko for Pacman. He can be at his best if he would put his mind into it. Hindi ko ginamit ang benchmark na yan sa lban nya kay Solis dahil hindi naman A opponent si Solis so why bring your A game. Pero kay Marco, where he needs to prove something and where he is eyeing for the #1 ld 4 lb status, I expected him to bring his A game and be in his "benchmark" shape. My verdict?: Last night. he was one level short of his benchmark shape. And not only that, he was also one level slower, one level less furious, one level less relentless, half level less stronger, one level less confident or one level more nervous (see him do the sign of the cross more than the punches he threw...?hyperbole...)and two levels over cautious. I even think he was one level better in the MP-MB 1. I watch all Pac's fight and everytime, I jump out of my seat in excitement every single round. But last night, except for rounds 6 and 11, I felt, well, bored and bitin na bitin. Let's face it guys, Pacman became a superstar not because he wins his fights, but how he wins his fights - that is letting it all hung out to hurt his opponent to submission, without any fear of getting hurt. Thus the monicker-No Fear. So when we start seeing our idol fight "not to lose", for money, and not to get hurt, we could be seeing the demise of an era, at least in the featherwieght division (122-130).
Yes, Pac won and a win is a win. But this is not basketball or paramihan ng panalo. There is no title at stake so the win is not the goal, at least for PAC. His goal was to make an impression that he is the best in the world today! And do you honestly believe he did? We all know he's gonna win and there's no way MB would win. So why did we watch last night's fight? To find out who will win? Naaah! To see in which round Pac would KO Barrera, right? In the 11th he almost did, but he got careless and let MB do his dirty trick at the break, which he also suffered in his first fight with him. The difference is he shrugged it off it the first fight, while last night, he needed at least a minute to recover (or to rest if he wasnt really hurt) and thus wasted one minute of momentum which he never got again. Even the last round was unlike any other where Manny empties his tanks like no tomorrow. It was a survival round for both of them.
Yes Pac won the fight, but it was Marco who was truly victorious, proving everyone wrong and saying (not exact words)-" You say Marco will get knocked out, but you see after twelve rounds, I'm still standing". This is the only time where I could say the loser was the winner, and vice versa.
Yes MB did a defensive fight but not all the time and there were so many tiimes where he stood in front of PAc and engaged MP but Pac failed to sustain like before, bitin talaga! This is the first victory of Pacman in a long while where he did not KO his opponent, and it was against a faded star, whom he beat before when he was supposedly not as good and MB was supposedly better and, in any language, that is really not a good sign.
Im not being KJ here or unpatriotic, everyone congratulates him for the win including myself. I do not take anything away from what Pac did last night, coz I know he did what he could. I just regret what he did not do. But deep n our hearts, if we truly know Pac, we know he could have done better, a lot better even. If Barrera said it wasnt him in the first fight, this time I will say it wasnt Pac up there last night.
I am saying all these because I am truly concerned with what I saw, and I hope I will not see what I saw again, because if so, then we should just expect a so-so Pac hereon, and not see any see-saw fights no more! (ang gulo!). Seriously, I hope this would serve as a lesson to Team Pacquaio that what happened last night is not about what Barrera did, but all about what they did not (early preparation, US training). Pac can only bring with him into the ring what they prepared for outside the ring. No more, no less. If you prepared a half baked cake, you can & will only eat a half baked cake.
Congrats Pac for winning, Congrats MB for proving us wrong, sorry Pinoys for not getting to see what we wanted!
Counter Puncher 10-07-2007, 09:22 PM Wakee Salud also hinted that Pac may move to lightweight soon, meaning PAc may be finding it difficult to stay at 130 already, thats why the slow down in last nights fight due to "over starving" perhaps. He is eyeing the winner of the Diaz-Diaz unification. Poor JMM, looks like he will never get his rematch in this lifetime.

Seriously, yung laro nya last night is not as aggressive as he used to, sinabayan pa ng takbo ng kalaban kaya ayun d masyadong exciting yung laban. Good win for Pac, pero sana next time more exciting! kaya bring on Marquez!!! para matahimik na yung mga MARICON....

I think most of us share your sentiments pareng counter...

Medyo disap[pointed ako becasue I was waiting for a knockout that never came.

Speaking of Pacman, he doesnt care about belts anymore, only money. Here's a quote from Sweet Science, to which I totally agree:
From Knockout To Sellout
"Pacquiao is now a spoiled brat trying to live it up with the IN society. His claim that he's just a simple person is hogwash, lying through his teeth. Just look at his mansions, his top-of-the-line cars, his diamond-studded Rolex watch, his business conglomerations.. are these what he calls being a "simple person"? He now has the gall to not listen to Roach, to sign multiple contracts, to engage in extra-curricular activities not related to boxing itself. These are signs of less-than-total concentration. Boxing is a full attention sport, in and out of the ring. Manny seems like he's now content to last the full 12 rounds just so he could avoid serious injuries and collect more luxuries." --TSS reader "Ton" thinks Manny has sold out
Mabuhay si Abe Concepcion. I think he deserves to be the next annointed one to get the millions!

Well, it's bound to happen. I don't think it's selling out, it's being smart. I would do the same thing if I were in his place. Why would I risk injuring myself? Maybe in the beginning it's about pleasing your fans, but in the end, you have to take care of yourself first. It's human nature. He worked his ass off to get to where he is at right now, I would not think badly of him if he starts to enjoy himself. I would like to know what this "Ton" would do if he were in the same spot.
Ang ayaw ko lang mangyari, he would get too ****y and too confident and get himself hurt in the process if he doesn't pay attention.

I agree with you, bro. But then again it is not about his right to enjoy the fruits of his labor and protecting his well being I am against with. It is his "pretensions" and too much politicking and showbiz stuff that leave a bad taste in my mouth. Just now, he snubbed a hero's welcome by Mayor Lim in favor of an invitation by DENR secretary Atienza? WTF has DENR got to do with Pacman? On the other hand, being an adopted son of Manila, it is already tradition to give Pacman a parade in Manila? Is it not politicking? If Pacman wants to start enjoying his money, then he should do it outside the ring, not inside it. It is he himself who said long time ago that boxing is a hurt business. You get hurt and you get your opponent hurt. This is what Pacman does best and what made him. So when you dont see this anymore, coz Pac doesnt want this no more, then he should not pretend no more and insult our intelligence by thinking we cannot see thru it. When I hear him say "Im 100% ready" two weeks before the fight, and see him huff and puff during weighin, i feel insulted. When you hear Roach says "Manny will go out with guns blazing" and see Pac fizzles out every now and then, I feel robbed of my ppv expense. When you read "No fear" in his shorts and see him wary to mix it up with a "dangerous" a guy who is just trying to survive, I feel full of fear for his career. When you see Barrera worried in his corner at the end of each round, and Manny smiling and talking to the crowd instead of listening to Freddie, you see showbiz not boxing, WTF! When you seel all of these, you get the feeling that MegaManny is (youre right pareng itlog) starting to prioritize self-enjoyment and preservation over excitement and boxing itself, of course, at the expense of course of the fans who shoulder his multi-million$ payday. I hope I am all wrong. I wish I am wrong and see Pac as his oldself in his next fight. It is the only time I would enjoy being wrong!:grumble:
Counter Puncher 10-10-2007, 10:20 PM For me, honesty is still the best policy. If Pac is being honest, he only has to choose between:
1. Boxing - thus stay disciplined, focused, dedicated and without fear. go for glory (belts) instead of money (marami ka na, you cant buy glory and honor later)
2. Retirement - thus enjoy (or waste) his money, showbiz, basketball, politics, gambling, billiards, singing, acting, Ara Mina, Britney Spears, atbp.
it cannot be both. just doesnt work that way in real world (sa tv siguro pwede)...its proven..and its showing its ill effects already. not good for Pac's health and well being too.
Itlog 10-10-2007, 11:14 PM Agree tol. I did get what you were trying to say. I don't know much what he does outside the ring at wala ako sa pinas, but the first time i heard he started recording.. i said wtf?... then artista? i said WTF? tapos politics?... What the ****??? One of these days he is going to lose in a big way at matatauhan yan. Then he either goes back to basics and concentrate again or retire. Tama ka, you can't have both.
teka muna.... Britney Spears?? WHAT THE ****???

My question remains> WTF does Dept of Environment & Natural Resources has to do with Pacman? Baka pondo pa ng bayan ginamit dyan. Imbestigahan ang tarantadong si Atienza sa Senado!
