Generally I prefer late 60's early 70's music, but I have a wide taste in music and appreciate some rap or hip/hop. As well as the ones you mentioned I also remember listening back then to NWA,Public Enemy and Silver Bullet. I like some of today's artists as well.

I don't think many americans would appreciate british hip hop simply because either they have never heard it before or because it isn't american and they find it harder to relate to.

hip hop is definatley a culture thing, west coast and east coast rappers used to be at war and vastly different. but it's more universal now, mainly due to airplay on mainstream tv and radio.

british hip-hop i'm glad to say has kept it's identity and has not yet conformed to the american stereotype.

that's how it should be for all country's.

there are a few sell outs but generally rappers stick to what they know, their upbringing and their culture.

that's why no british rapper who keeps it real will ever make it big in the U.S
