I like Martin Jol and think he tries to play football the right way but blowing £16.5 million on Darren Bent is insane and when you take into consideration the fact that Defoe, Berbatov and Keane were already there and that the defense and central midfield areas were as fragile as a glass hammer you have to question whether he is the right man for Spurs.

I think the only reason they bought Bent is because Berbs is off either in January or end of season, so they got another striker in while they could. But it's disrupted everything. Competion is good, when you have too much like we do know none of them can relax, hence you don't get any good performances out of any of them

The Iron Man
10-04-2007, 02:29 PM
Nah Berbatov wont b off in Jan, we bought bent cose Mido was off and there was a possibility of Defoe going. Jol Likes having 4 good strikers to pick from

"Now that's why they paid 26 million pounds for Fernando Torres" (after 94th minute equalizer)

No more footie this weekend for me, as that won't be topped. Well played on both sides. Tottenham did not sit on the lead this time, they attacked and did well, just a freak of a cross right onto Torres's head at the final whistle

Its not looking good for Jol.

Its a puzzle with the players that Spurs can put out as to why they are struggling so badly, tactically they look inept and Jol must forget about winning in a entertaining way and concentrate on getting some hard fought points in the bag otherwise Spurs will be in the Championship next term.

Yeah, they stretch themselves too much and let their opponents have way too much room.

As a unit they need to tighten up.

Its a sad sad night for us Tottenham fans. We've just lost in Europe at home to Getafe 1-2 and it's only our 2nd defeat at home in 55 European matches.
To make matters worse Big Maarten Jol resigned before the game and news filtered though at half-time. The players were unaware apparently and so were the crowd who got wind of it in the 2nd half. The whole stadium stood up and chanted "Stand up for Maarten Jol Stand up for Maarten Jol". We all want him to stay despite our poor form this season. I wish him the best of luck he was our best manager in the last 20 years. Apparently Juande Ramos of Sevilla is on his way but it is yet to be confirmed. Anyway despite where we are this season we are much better off than we were 3 years ago when he took over. TTID TTID --- COYS COYS.

Juande (Oneday) we might get a manager to take us into the top4.

That day might have just come but I doubt it.

Tottenham's new manager Juande Ramos watched yesterday as they pulled off their latest trick yet again. Took the lead couldn't hold on conceding an equaliser and then it happens. After giving away a lead and looking to hold on to draw they wait until injury time is nearly up and then CONCEDE with the last kick of the game to lose yet again. That's the 5th ****ing time this season. Juande Ramos needs to sort this out and soon. His 1st game will be on wednesday in the carling cup against the mighty Blackpool, and then the hard work starts. Can he get us into the top 10 this year hopefully so. I think 5th to 8th and u.e.f.a cup is probably to much to ask for.

Anyway a big big thanks to Maarten Jol and best of luck to him in whatever he decides to do next.

I think it'll be 2-2, it's gonna take him some time we've just gotta forget doing anything this season and be patient.

He trains the team twice a day and want's them super fit that should stop the late goals hopefully. If you don't work hard enough for him he'll punish you apparently he's quite ruthless. When in charge of Sevilla they were winning a game 2-0 and the players relaxed which infuriated him so he made a substitution and took someone off and didn't replace them leaving his side with 10 men, just to make them work harder. They won the game but he said afterwards if it had gone wrong he would have been slated but he needed to teach the players a lesson.

-CANE-
11-02-2007, 11:05 AM
How will Ramos's first premiership game in charge go, can we get off to a much needed winning start against Middlesboro.

It's a must win game for both sides.
I think it will take Ramos at least a month to get things a little tighter at the back and to get the team fitter, working harder and playing for each other and also their confidence levels higher. I can see this being a draw and Tottenham remaining in the bottom 3 until late November early December and then hopefully we can start to climb the table.

Moving on up the table, that's 3 clean sheets in the last 4 competitive games in all competitions. The 2nd highest scorers now in the premiership just one goal behind the Arseholes. If we can sort our defense out then just maybe we have a chance of getting euro qualification at the end of the season.

At last we show some character and a bit of backbone.
0-2 down after a dismal first half in the uefa cup but 3 goals in 19 mins after the restart for a 3-2 win and now top the group. But still that defense does need sorting out and it doesn't help when you have one fit centre back and the other 3 all out injured.

Are we beginning to turn the corner. 4 wins and 2 draws since Ramos took over.

God we do need Leders back, but Robbo is for me the best in England still.
He's just had a bit of a bad patch, too much get's made out of it. It's always highlighted more with keepers yet with outfield players it's overlooked.

Completely different side in the 2nd half. Ramos took Lee off at right back and went with 3 in defense and took Jenas off in midfield because of an injury and replaced him with Huddlestone. Huddlestone's first touch after 40 seconds in the 2nd half was a superb ball through to Berbatov who slid in and toe poked it past the keeper, 6 mins later Malbranque equalised then Bent tapped home to make it 3-2 after only 19 mins off 2nd half. I feel Spurs were unlucky tonight not to get anything from the game but.....

This gung ho style of football is suicidal and will achieve nothing, therefore defenders, defensive midfielders and a neutral style of play must be implemented to assure any sort of success or stability.

According to the latest Premier League stats as to positioning within the Premiership since it began, Spurs are a Tier 1 side along with Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

However looking at the other sides in that Tier there is an obvious comparable difference - goals conceded.

Arsenal - 9 Conceded
Chelsea - 9 Conceded
Liverpool - 6 Conceded
Man U - 7 Conceded
Spurs - 27 Conceded

Some could argue that its the Spurs way to attack and score more goals than your opponent regardless of the final score but obviously this no longer works in a more tactically astute League.

Spurs have scored a fair amount of goals, lets compare against the same teams.

Spurs - 26 Scored
Arsenal - 31 Scored
Chelsea - 22 Scored
Liverpool - 26 Scored
Man U - 23 Scored

26 goals are impressive but the other teams have scored a similar amount of goals thus proving that educated pressure is as effective and perhaps as exciting as gung ho attacking.

I'm sure all the Spurs fans know this already but is it an in grain style of play that cannot be adapted? Is it purely that the defensive players are poor? Or is it that tactically Spurs concentrate too much on their opponents last third and leave their defence out to dry?

If we look at a Tier Two team like Everton, they have managed to score 26 goals and only concede 16, at times they have been labelled workman like, however they have a strong spine, work hard and have a smattering of flair to accentuate the fine tactics the team deploys.

Shouldn't Spurs be looking to emulate teams like this?

Great post mate but it doesn't always work. Newcastle have tried to do the same thing and it has worked as yet for us!

Tottenham do need to concentrate more at the back though but they have bought big in the wrong paces in my opinion!

It's a bit of both, Micky. They had enough players in position on the last two goals but the tackling was poor. Dawson hung himself to dry and the midfielder helping out --I forget who-- didn't do the job. Then everyone was back for the third but Berbatov was nonchalant in losing it and even more so in not recovering. Plus it was a wonderstrike.

But really there's no need to play Keane, Berbatov and Defoe/Bent. Bale plays too high as well. It's both tactics and poor play that are giving goals up

Good post Micky and agree with most of what you say.
Also Celtic Warrior agree with you to a certain extent but we have had so many injuries at the back and haven't had the services of King most of last season and most of this season. Dawson and King have a good understanding and we need these two fit and playing regulary. We have a good right back in Chimbonda and a great young left back in Bale but he seems injury prone as well.

But we do need a great defensive midfield general to play alongside Tom Huddlestone who is a fantastic young talent and brilliant passer of the ball.
He can't defend that well though and has bad defensive positioning and isn't that quick, which is why we need a midfield leader to free Tommy up and let him carve open defenses. He reminds me so much of my hero Glenn Hoddle in his passing ability. We also need a strong left sided midfield player as well.

Fully agree mate and there is no doubt that Spurs have talent right across the park but even looking at two of the players you mentioned in Bale and Chimbonda. These are fantastic players but I would say that defence is perhaps secondary to their role and they are more like attacking wing backs than defensive full backs, what do you think?

I agree that King is a loss but Dawson seems a different player without him, also why spend so much on Bent to play him so little when you had a wealth of talent up front already, you could have gotten at least two excellent defensive players for that money?

BTW I have just watched the highlights again and the sending off was a disgrace!

Bale and Chimbonda are more attacking minded than defensive which wouldn't be a problem if we had 2 centre backs that worked togeather and some midfielders that spotted this and went back and covered giving us a back 3 or 4 when they were attacking. But this doesn't happen. So we either get them to stay back as a unit and miss out on them bombing forward and creating a lot of chances or change the line up. But it's difficult especially when you have so many injuries and the line up changes week in week out. We have to buy in the transfer window and get our players all back fit. We had this problem a few years back, we were the most injury prone club for 7-8 years and I thought we had put this right a few years ago but it seems to have come back and I'm not sure whether it's bad luck, bad man management in buying injury prone players or something we are doing wrong.

The position we are in is 90% the boards fault and maybe 10% Jols with his choice of tactics. Commoli forced Bent,Kaboul,Taraabt,Boateng and Bale all on Jol and he never wanted any of them. He claimed they were the wrong players for this club and would totally disrupt the team and he was right. The board rather than admit their mistakes shift the blame on Jol and sack him and then stick another manager in the **** to try and bale us out, not realising it's gonna be the same spurs with the same problems.

Keane should never have been sent off and that ref dropped us in the **** big time, that coupled with Bales injury changed the face of the game and possibly our season. When your luck is bad it's really bad.

So it's no european football for next season and we are never going to win any cup this season, so we need to concentrate on staying up which sounds ludicrous when you consider the talent we have and where we finished the last 2 seasons. I don't buy into the old saying that we are to good to go down because we are not and it's a real possibility and to make things worse our old enemy could win the league this season with the brilliant football they are playing.

It is a bad time to be a spurs fan.

Back to back wins for the lillywhites. A last minute goal to secure victory over Man City by 2-1 and our 1st away win of the season against portsmouth 0-1. The latter was a great result as they were unbeaten at home all season and also we kept a clean sheet with 3 of our back 4 out in a make shift defense.

yeah, the penalty was hit right at him, he didnt have to make a spectacular dive did he?

He just got down to his right and the ball came straight at him... It wasn't as if Keane hit a peach that was going in the top right corner and Almunia made an awesome dive to get his fingertips to it and stop it, it was a **** penalty, the save was nothing special, you'd expect Almunia to make it, he does play for arsenal a top Premier League team...

Of course he had to dive, but with the power and accuracy on that penalty, he didn't have to make a spectacular dive....

Your going on about the save as if it was some miracle penalty save... It was a routine save from a **** penalty. Of course Almunia dived to save it unless his stretch Armstrong, if you read my post again i said "he didnt even have to dive", and not 'he didnt dive', theres a difference.....

OK. The above paragraph is stone cold proof you're a ****ing retard. Penalty saves are about choosing which way to dive and hope you get behind the ball to save it. The fact Almunia plays for Arsenal shouldn't even enter the equasion, but in your pea-sized brain that is obviously a factor.
I'm not denying it was a **** penalty, am I?! I'm just saying that if Almunia had decided to dive left instead of right you wouldn't be saying it was a poor penalty. E N D.

O.k kid, another weak argument to justify your point, firstly, lets congratulate Almunia for choosing the right way to go (i have nothing against Almunia or Arsenal), he guessed and got it right, but if the penalty was struck better, i.e, with more power and more to the corner then he wouldnt have saved it, i have seen this penalty a few times now, and almunia's positioning was good but if the penalty was higher towards the corner or even more towards the corner at the bottom he wouldnt have got there....

Penalty is all about luck, even if you miss hit it you can score, but also if luck is not with you, you have to make sure you try to hit it properly, Keane didnt hit that properly, lacked power (IMO)....

I mean, the **** you're spewing is like you've just started watching football only yesterday. You would expect Almunia to make that save just because he plays for Arsenal? LOL You are one thick ****.

ok *******, no i dont expect Almunia to save every penalty just because he plays for Arsenal, but because he chose the right way to go down and got his body behind that ball, you'd expect him to save that particular one....

the key was guessing which way to go, once he jumped to his right you'd expect him to save it because the penalty was perfect height and pace for him, because it was a **** penalty..... You get me punk.....

imagine if he done everything perfect then let the penalty slip through his hands, that was the scenario i was picturing.... hahaha

Again, you show your retarded values. First you say it was hit straight at him, then you say he DID have to dive to save it. No where in any of my posts did I say it was a spectacular dive, so you can drop that bollocks.

mr retard, the penalty was too central, look at the link i gave you, they agree with me too, wahey......

Yeah he dived but the penalty was too central he didn't have to stretch, it came straight at him... when i mean straight at him, i dont know the exact measurements of the shot, but it looked pretty central, not bang in the middle but quite central....

How am I going on as if it was a miracle penalty save? I'm just pointing out the bull**** you're typing. Riiiiight....so Almunia dived just for the sake of diving, not because he had to.

It was a penalty, of course he had to dive and choose which way, you don't expect him to run off towards the corner flag when keane shoots.. He gambled and it paid off... All i said was it was a terrible penalty, it has nothing to do with Almunia or his save, because he could have dived same spot and Keane could have hit it bit more to his left, Almunia's right, and it would have gone in... Your not making any sense at all, i said it was a terrible penalty and you got all hyper about it and tried to make it sound as if Almunia made a really good save, he did make a good save but the penalty was still ****...

Even if Keane had scored, it would have still been a **** penalty (IMO), because it lacked power, even if Almunia dived to his left, there was a chance of him saving it with his feet, thats how **** the penalty was....

It can be a **** penalty by a player no matter what the outcome, the player could do his run up and trip over the ball and still score from a **** penalty... So i'm not saying it was a **** penalty just because he missed.....

Do you see your contradiction there? LOL you're one dumb bastard, sorry about the language, but it's true.

hahaha.... thats not a contradiction scumbag, i said that he didnt have to dive to save the penalty thats how **** the penalty was, now, thats a slight exaggeration, with the emphasis on the penalty being ****, You dumb son of a *****... oops excuse my language....

mr retard, the penalty was too central, look at the link i gave you, they agree with me too, wahey......

The penalty was to the right of Almunia, and Almunia dived the correct way, which is why he saved it. The BBC also reported that Spurs had 70% posession, which then turned out to be total bollocks. Using BBC's match report is desperate, but then again, desperate times call for desperate measures!

Yeah he dived but the penalty was too central he didn't have to stretch, it came straight at him... when i mean straight at him, i dont know the exact measurements of the shot, but it looked pretty central, not bang in the middle but quite central....

I know he didn't have to stretch so what's your point? Oh, what's that? You don't have one. The fact is the ball was not hit straight at him like you originally stated, but now you're trying to twist it because you realise where you went wrong.

LOL I'm not making any sense at all? Evidently, no one has ever taught you IRONY. And once again I am not trying to make it sound as if Almunia made a great save, READ BACK THROUGH MY POSTS AND YOU'LL SEE THAT. All my responses to you have only ever been to point out how stupid and wrong you are.

Also, you should have typed 'you're', not 'your'. Get back to school.

even if Almunia dived to his left, there was a chance of him saving it with his feet, thats how **** the penalty was....

Yep, you're a gold medal winning retard! If Keane's shot was to the right of Almunia (Almunia DID dive to his right remember), how would there be a chance of Almunia still saving it with his feet if he dived to his left? LOL

hahaha.... thats not a contradiction scumbag, i said that he didnt have to dive to save the penalty thats how **** the penalty was, now, thats a slight exaggeration, with the emphasis on the penalty being ****, You dumb son of a *****... oops excuse my language....

Here we go...

Of course Almunia dived to save it unless his stretch Armstrong

In the above statement you are saying Almunia had to dive because he's not stretch armstrong...

if you read my post again i said "he didnt even have to dive", and not 'he didnt dive'

...but now, in the above statement, you are saying he didn't have to dive to save it.

That's a contradiction, Mr. Retardation.

Ever heard when a player shoots and the shot goes a foot wide, when the commentator says "that was a mile off", he doesnt actually mean the shot was a ****ing mile away from the goal.... It's called an exaggeration kid..hahahaha

Ohhhh, so you were exaggerating? Oh well that explains it all then, or are you just trying to twist it because it's just dawned on you how stupid you really are?

It was hit straight at Almunia, when Almunia dived to his right.. Now, do you understand you dumb ****... Jeez, i have explained this many times, open your ****ing eyes.... i.e, the penalty was too central.... For ****s sake, how many times do i have to say this.....

LOL you're a laugh, I'll give you that! Only because you're just so ****ing stupid it's embarrassing.

My conclusion, you're a twat.....

Because I've shown you up to be the thick **** you truly are? Ah OK then, I'm a twat.

Once again, can you explain how I'm going on as if this penalty save was a miracle? Because you didn't do as I asked in the last post. You need to read through my posts again, because I'm not actually ranting and raving about how great the penalty save was, am I? I'm replying to you about how retarded you are.

Was it a **** penalty or not??

Yes, it was... END of discussion....hahaha

If i said it was a **** penalty, thats my opinion, who told you to come in with some next synopsis, it was a terrible penalty.....

And when have I said any different? I agree with you on that, you dopey twat!

Ok, kid, if you do agree with me then you wouldn't have to ask me to justify my first point, which was "it was a terrible penalty by keane", because the whole point of me ranting on was because you didn't agree with me and asked me to justify my own opinion.... So if you agreed with me then END OF....

LOL you're completely twisting what you originally said now. You said you expected him to save it because...he does play for Arsenal. :duh:

No, again your not opening your eyes and reading what i wrote, i expected him to save it not initially, unless his some mind reader, but when he made that dive and got down to his right, once he chose the right way, the rest was easy because the penalty was hit too central.....LOL

Punk :lol1:

Yep....

So first of all you said you expected him to save it, now you're saying the key was guessing which way to go. RETARDATION ALERT!

hahahaha.... someones got **** in there eyes......

You're an embarrassment.

Right back at ya.......

The penalty was to the right of Almunia, and Almunia dived the correct way, which is why he saved it. The BBC also reported that Spurs had 70% posession, which then turned out to be total bollocks. Using BBC's match report is desperate, but then again, desperate times call for desperate measures!

These ain't desperate times for me kid, but for you, you don't have a solid enough argument..... I mean, it was a **** penalty everyone knows that, no matter what you say, ain't nothing going to change the fact that the penalty was ****e......

I know he didn't have to stretch so what's your point? Oh, what's that? You don't have one. The fact is the ball was not hit straight at him like you originally stated, but now you're trying to twist it because you realise where you went wrong.

My point is THE PENALTY WAS ****....hahahahahaha

Get over it, are you traumatised or something... where you a keeper when you were young? did you have a bad experience? get over it lad, it's all good, dont worry...hahahaha

You're just rambling on now, WAS IT A **** PENALTY OR NOT??

ANSWER: YES IT WAS AND YOU'RE A RETARD, GET OVER IT......

Yep, you're a gold medal winning retard! If Keane's shot was to the right of Almunia (Almunia DID dive to his right remember), how would there be a chance of Almunia still saving it with his feet if he dived to his left? LOL

HAHAHAHAHA.... AND YES WE HAVE A WINNER, ITS THE ****ING RETARD AGAIN.....

dont you ever read, for ****s sake, READ.... OPEN YOUR EYES......

SERIOUSLY ARE YOU SOME 13YR OLD KID whose got **** all to do, read, thats my advice, read what i write and try to absorb it for a second, understand it, then reply.......LMAO

Here we go...

In the above statement you are saying Almunia had to dive because he's not stretch armstrong...

Yes, because you were going on about that he did dive to his right.. So because i have eyes, when i saw that penalty kick, Almunia dived to his right, a simple dive, i.e, it was not a wonder save.... And why was it not a wonder save, BECAUSE IT WAS A TERRIBLE PENALTY.....

...but now, in the above statement, you are saying he didn't have to dive to save it.

Exactly, BY ME SAYING HE DIDN'T HAVE TO, ITS NOT THE SAME AS HE DIDN'T.... so clearly it's not a contradiction.... That's me just emphasising how TERRIBLE THE PENALTY WAS... An emphasis on the fact it was TERRIBLE PENALTY......

That's a contradiction, Mr. Retardation.

READ IT AND UNDERSTAND IT....KID...LOL

Ohhhh, so you were exaggerating? Oh well that explains it all then, or are you just trying to twist it because it's just dawned on you how stupid you really are?

Now you know how it feels when someone throws a cheap shot, that's what you've been doing to justify your whole argument... I never do that and nor do i care about spelling mistakes but i was trying to give you a bit of your own medicine, because my argument was it was a terrible penalty and in a sense your asking me to prove it, wtf, can't you see with your own eyes, it was a terrible penalty, then you go on ranting for pages with a fake ass argument.....

It's been a few games since I posted on here, but this is an update on transers pending this January. Apparently we have put in a 8 million pound bid for Stewart Downing (What a waste of ****ing money that'll be) and it looks like one of our 4 strikers is going but who.

We have put in an 8.5 million pound bid for current brazilian striker Fred who plays for Lyon. Lyon have recieved 2 offers, 1 from us and the other from PSG. Fred's agent is reported as saying that he would rather play for Tottenham in the premiership than goto PSG, so he shall be talking to Tottenham in the next few days.

What if he signs for us who will be off, my guess is Berbatov who will **** off to Man Utd or abroad somewhere.

I really can't see Fred signing for us if he going to replace Bent or Defoe and be 3rd or 4th choice striker.

What do all you other numptys think.

Ok here are my thoughts :

----Downing would be a crap buy, his an average English player so his overated, he is nothing special at all, and seen as malbranque has been our best player under Ramos i dnt see a point in changing. I dnt think its a Ramos signing cose i doubt he would of heard of him or have been impressed by him.

----As for Fred he would be a good buy, but its a paper thing to Link us to every striker who is leaving there club, a few years back we were linked with Rivaldo. Which was total bollocks, i dnt think any of our 4 strikers will leave this January.

---- Chimbonda leaving is another load of crap, just because we signed a player who plays right back (gunter), who can play just as well as left back, the papers assumed he was on his. Gunter is a perfect back up who plays at both sides and is needed while Bale is out and when chimbonda is injured.

**The only Positions we need to fill are Goalkeeper, Central Defender, Defencive mid, and if u really want a left mid.

As a side note, Tottenhams Kits will be Nike in a couple of years i have heard!!

Woodgate and now Hutton have been bought in the transfer window and Gilberto looks likely as well. That's one right back, one centre back and probably a left back/left midfielder. All we need now is a defensive midfielder however from what I've seen of Tainio whose been sitting infront of the back 4 for the games against Arsenal and Man Utd he might have finally found a position for himself having played everywhere except for in goal and upfront.

Villa are apparently going to make a move for chimbonda in the next 24 hrs.

However we have got cover in every position and may only lack a real solid central midfielder who can win the ball. We have a great young squad and if we can start climbing up the league, win the league cup and have a good run in the uefa this may convince the big names to stay and we could well have a chance of grabbing 4th spot next season or the year after.

We should be challenging Liverpool as I think we have a squad just as good if not better than them and so many talented youngsters.

If we get Gilberto then this will be our squad and cover in each position.

GK: Cerny/Robinson
RB: Chimbonda/Hutton/Gunter/Stalteri
CB: King/Woodgate/Dawson/Kaboul/Huddlestone
LB: Bale/Gilberto/Lee/Gunter
RM: Lennon/Jenas/Tainio/Boateng
CM: Jenas/Zokora/Huddlestone/Tainio/O'Hara/Boateng
LM: Gilberto/Malbranque/O'Hara/Taraabt/Bale/Tainio
CF: Berbatov/Keane/Bent/Defoe

Hutton,Gunter,Kaboul,Huddlestone,Bale,Lennon,Boate ng,O'Hara,Taraabt are all under 21 internationals.

We have spent a lot of money and should be much higher up the table and if we can get our midfield and defense working properly then we will be a force to be reckoned with.

Sir Alex Ferguson said that we have the deadliest strike partnership in europe and he's not far wrong.

There have been signs of improvement in all areas especially the fitness and organisation and also Lennons crossing of the ball, which is remarkable really when you think the problems Ramos has had to endure. The injuries in defense, the unrest in the camp and all the transfer speculation yet we have improved and climbed the table and reached a cup final. If we get everyone back and things really start to click then maybe we might have some good times to come at the lane at last.

I think Chimbonda is a good player but Hutton is better. He is a lot faster and can beat players with ease, his crossing could probably do with some work as could his shooting but his passing is pretty good and he has excellent vision for a defender.

I don't think he's worth £9M but very few players are worth what is payed for them. He is a naturally talented lad and I think he will benefit from playing under Juande Ramos because he favours an attacking style of play. I think as long as he and his family settle into the area he will prove to be a very good signing.

I've spoken to a few sweaty socks that are Rangers fans and they said he is much better going forward than he is defensively. But going forward in the SPL has to be a lot easier than in the EPL or Europe (No Disrespect).

Was hoping to have a left back but the Gilberto move has collapsed as he has failed a second medical and will return to Hertha Berlin until his contract runs out in summer 2008.

The SPL is a weak league but the reason Hutton has come to the fore this year is that his performances in Europe have been exceptional. He played very well against Stuttgart and Lyon and done okay against Barcelona in games which we were forced to defend for 90 minutes. Against France and Italy he played well and amidst the hysteria surrounding James McFadden's goal against France it went almost unnoticed that Hutton turned in an exceptional display in defense.

His attacking is definitely better than his defending but he has really started to improve defensively. His main problem was positional sense and he had an infuriating habit of drifting inside and allowing wingers space but I am pleased to say that he has sorted that out and his pace allows him to keep up with most players which coupled with good timing when tackling makes him a good defender.

If he plays at the weekend it will be a baptism of fire because Ronaldo is sensational at the moment. It will be interesting to see how he does.

Cheers for that Mozza, that's good to know. You're right about it being a baptism of fire against Ronaldo, but as I say the best thing is to be thrown in at the deep end. It can't get any harder and he'll either sink or swim.

Deadline is over and we got 4 defenders and lost a striker and sent 2 defenders out on loan.

More than I expected. Wasn't to keen on getting Woodgate at the time but if he stays injury free and plays like he did against everton then I was completely wrong and it's a great buy. If Hutton and Gilberto are really good as well then maybe we can start to become a force.

Still lacking in midfield IMO. We need a dominant central midfielder and then it's a question of who plays there. Jenas for his runs and goalscoring or Huddlestone for his passing because if they play togeather teams will walk through the middle of us with ease.

Cesc came on after only 18mins and even if he'd have played fom the start with Adebayor we'd have still beat you that night. Maybe not as convincing but still would have beat you. We've had the better of you in many recent games but been unfortunate not to win but that's football and we take it on the chin.

Admit it we were ****ing superb that night and you just couldn't cope with a good team playing at the very top of their game. Be a ****ing man and accept it.

& since the Carling Cup u can get everything from a Totenham 5-1 G stirng to 5-1 mug or DVD ,that is how sad your SMALL club is keeping the DVD hurricane just so u can show the grand Kids of when Totenham had the little morale victory of success

Shame on u lol

Are you a geuine football fan or just a hater.

I'm not deluded your a better team than us I'm not denying that. And many of our games in fact most of them you deserved to win anyone can see that.

But anyone can see that in the last 2 or 3 games in which we led for the most part we outplayed you and were unlucky not to win and they have been close games against a full strength arsenal squad. Yet we are **** at the back what with injuries and no organisation and you still never spanked us and if it weren't for that fact might have got a few wins against you.

I'm a man and a real football fan and give arsenal credit they are a great side who play beautiful football, and our last few games have been close. Now if we can learn to defend properly and hang on to a lead we could be a great side as we are great at going forward our goals this season especially at home shows that.

For **** sake be a man and admit we can play some good football and give a team some credit when they play well and stop being a child and slagging us off just because we are the so called enemy.

Lasagne my Arse it had nothing to do with food poisoning despite what many diluded spurs fans want to believe. It was a bug plain and simple maybe they should have postponed the game but they didn't and that's life. At the end of the day we can ***** all we like but the league don't lie and you pipped us on the final day. If I wanted I could also ***** about the man u game where we scored that goal that never was, if they gave that and we won 1-0 we'd have got 4th but **** happens and it evens itself out.

Tottenham have got better the past 3 seasons and the bad start this season was more down to commoli than Jol. Maybe Jol was partly to blame with his tactics in certain situations but he told commoli he never wanted bent, kaboul, bale and boateng as they would disrupt the team and to a certain extent he was right.

I don't believe arsenal got worse, you had a young side with plenty of potential and the last 2 seasons despite finishing 4th put some great runs togeather at times and showed what a good side they are. The reason you looked worse was because of Henry. One of the greatest players ever in the premiership but IMO he was holding these youngsters back. A lot of them looked towards henry and would give him the ball when normally they'd have done something different. It was like he was carrying the team and Wenger as big as a cunt as he is, is a genius and great manager and got rid of him at the right time. That's why you are where you are today and had he stayed you'd probably be somewhere between 3rd and 7th IMO.

I think your being a bit unfair in saying we bottled it. I give you credit for coming back that is the mark of a great team but we all know how frail we were at the back which has nothing to do with bottle. And Jols biggest problem was when we went a goal or two up he would get the team to sit back and try and defend which we were not great at doing. We used to get our noses in front and then sit back so deep and invite pressure on ourselves which was a tactical mistake by Jol nothing to do with bottle. The players do as the manager asks or at least try.

Ramos has changed that and I would rather lose going for the win and trying then sitting on a lead and hoping to hang on.

I like good attacking flair football and win or lose no matter how pissed off acknowledge the fact that a team has played well and were unlucky.

**** me we've won games maybe we didn't deserve to as has every other team, to simply call the team that lost as bottlers is naive to say the least.

O'neil has had little money to spend & with the little he has spent he has opted to buy English i dont think O'Neil wil make a conscious effort to go Foreign if he can get the players he needs here

O'Leary spent a lot of Money at Leeds ,i think he is a decent manager what i did'nt like about him at Villa was how he constantly moaned about having no Cash rightly or wrongly he should have just excepted it & got on with the Job ,Villa may have been more successfull if O'Leary was'nt constanlty blaming the defeats on lack of funds

I see my team (Spurs) are taking a pounding here! lol!

I'm over the 1-1 now, considering they raped us 0-4 last season. I'm confident with Ramos at the helm, next season we'll be up there. The January buys were all pretty good considering our defensive record.

Hi Newbie, nice to have another fellow yid in the house. Stupid really that it took until the January windows to get these defenders in. Jol wanted them in the summer and never wanted some of our other buys as he said it would disrupt the team and he was right. Jol was a good manager and never should have gone but I like Ramos and next season if we keep Berbs and the rest of the good players and stay injury free we'll be back up in the top 5-6 where we belong.

I think Jol's limitations are being exposed now, we're much fitter and look a solid unit. This was prior to the 4 defenders coming in, I loved Jol to bits but he appeared to have a massive inferiority complex with the top 4. We don't look overrawed now when facing the bigger teams.

If we lose Berba, provided we get an adequate replacement we'll be top 5/6. We could get 2 strikers with the money we get from Berba, having lost Defoe that'd be perfect.

i personally am not a fan ,he does have a decent engine but his passing is awfull ,his touch is diabolical his shooting is'nt great ,he gets from Box to box i agree & has a knack of arriving in the box at the right time but that is it IMO for his + and -

Huddlestone is a far better player ,short & long passing is brilliant good 1st touch ,decent at defending ,very strong ,not the most agile but a top player IMO ,i cant understand why he is in the u21 & Jenas is in the full squad ,Mark Noble is far better player than Jenas IMO better Technique better awareness better passer of the ball more creative

Carrick is an underachiever IMO but the guy has more ability in one foot than jenas has in his whole body ,Reo -****er is better than Jenas

if i had to buy an English CM & i had 10 million to spend i would rather spend it on Huddlestone ,Noble,Reo-****er than jenas ,hell id rather have Joey Barton than jenas

You're right in most of what you say. Huddlestone could be great, lacks pace and defensive positioning needs working on, but what a great passer.
He's probably better than any full england international using either foot where long passes are concerned. His shooting needs to improve as well.

Jenas is so ****ing hit and miss, he'll have 5 **** games and 1 good, 5 **** then 1 excellent. His best asset is his pace and finding open spaces when coming forward and is a reasonable finisher. But too bloody inconsistant.

Hargreaves rips the piss out of Jenas. Not sure about noble or reo-coker, Id pretty much label them as I do Jenas, although different in their type of play.

but Noble is very young [20] Jenas should be producing Consistency every week by now he is [24] year old & has played in some fairly big games in that time ,Noble has better vision ,more creativity ,very good technique ,excellent passer ,he is inconsistent cause of his age

But 2 away goals to take back to the lane next thursday and a cup final 3 days later. Should have had this game buried but as long as we go through thats all that matters. I really can't see us beating chelsea at all.

We deserved it today and the better team won. I can't tell you what this ****ing means to me.

And we beat the two teams I would rather beat than anyone else in doing it.

On a different note though my best wishes go out to Eduardo and hope he makes a full recovery.

How you doing Don? I'm still buzzing from that win, let's hope we don't come crashing back down to earth against birmingham on saturday.

What do you think our chances are of winning getting past PSV and winning uefa.

alright mate,

I've been telling anyone who cares to listen that we'll double up this season (win the uefa cup)! lol! They probably think I'm another deluded yid but you gotta be optimistic. I think if we remain injury free we should overcome PSV.

Birmingham is a very hard place to go as Arsenal and Man U have found. Hoping we don't get a hangover but Juande won't let that happen.

that was a couple of years before my time, when I started supporting Spurs we were banned from Europe. We finished 3rd that season and reached the FA Cup final (1987) if memory serves correct.

I'd like to see a Spurs v Everton UEFA Cup final. That'd suit me fine.

1987 - The nearly year. We should have won the league but slipped in the last third of the season and came third. We got knocked out in the semis of the league cup against arsenal after two replays I think against arsenal and we lost our 1st ever fa cup final to coventry in a great game. We had previsously won 7 out of 7 finals up until that point. Clive Allen hit an astonishing 49 goals that season and it's never mentioned.

The first is directed at Arsenal forward Emmanuel Adebayor:

Adebayor, Adebayooooooor,
Your dad washes elephants
And your mothers a whore

And the second at his strike partner Eduardo:

What's that coming out of his sock
Is it his ankle, is it his ankle

No really, Spurs are real lucky that the three teams under them didn't win. You have a run of hard fixtures coming up, West Ham home, Man City away then Chelsea home.

I post when we win so I'll post when we lose, no excuses. PSV are a strong side, it'll be difficult to get a result in Eindhoven but I think we can do it.

Think the Carling Cup has saved us as we wouldn't have qualified for the UEFA Cup otherwise.

I'm suprised he hasn't left PSV yet, he's a good striker.

If he does come to the Premiership, i'm sure he would flourish.

exactly, an away goal or two is hardly improbable, especially with tottenhams attacking options

poor old gilberto (is that his name??!) making such a lazy error on your debut

Gilberto was clearly lacking match fitness, it was a gamble that failed for Ramos. I felt a lot more comfortable when O'Hara took his place. I just can't wait till we get Bale back, Gilberto should have had a few reserve games to ease him in. Gomes was by far the busier keeper.

Going to be very difficult tonight and I suspect we will fall short and our season will be over.

Apparently Chimbonda and Bent are on there way out at the end of the season and Ramos is looking to bring in two argentinians as replacements.

Ramos is looking at Zaragozas Diego Milito to replace Bent and was 2nd top scorer in spain last season behind horse face and is the older brother of Gabriel Milito.

The right back to replace Chimbonda is Cato Diaz of Getafe.

Whether or not this is true we will have to wait and see, but I think he will replace both players but maybe not with these two.
