The second matchday of the group stages has been a successful one for British side. Five of the six teams involved secured victories with only Liverpool going down 1-0 at home to Marseilles.
Manchester United and Arsenal both secured 1-0 victories on Tuesday night thanks to goals Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie respectively while tonight Chelsea secured their second win in the Mestalla against Valencia in the space of six months with goals from Cole and Drogba overturning David Villa's opener.
The headlines however belong very much to Scottish giants Rangers and Celtic. The Glasgow rivals secured two incredible Champions league results in the space of 24 hours.
Rangers faced a Lyon side who had lost only 3 times in 24 Champions League games and even the most optimistic fan was cautious of predicting anything more than an honourable draw. Rangers won the game 3-0 to give them maximum points from two games and a genuine chance of making the last 16.
Celtic faced a challenge of equal magnitude and responded with equal vigour. European champions AC Milan were the visitors to Parkhead and despite Celtic's impressive home record few were tipping a win. The game looked set to end all square after a dubious Kaka penalty canceled out Stephen McManus' opener but a last minute effort from Scott McDonald won the match for Celtic to maintain their impressive home form and cap off an amazing couple of days for Scottish football and a great set of results for British sides.
