I've said it once to my mum, I was telling her some ****in ****e story and then went ''oh laughing out loud'' in the middle of a sentence, I just went ''sorry mum'' and just walked out of the room after realising what I'd just said. She wasn't any the wiser to what I'd said, and didn't know what LOL meant or was, I was just so ashamed.

...but, haha is a form of actually laughing. No wrongdoing.

I have never come across anybody using 'lol' instead of laughing though. I don't even use it in text or typing.
