Hey everyone,
I'm soon going to take my first medical but am quite worried that I could fail it as I have a sebaceous cyst on the back left-hand side of my head.
sebaceous cyst :
a common cyst of the skin; filled with fatty matter (sebum) that is secreted by a sebaceous gland that has been blocked.
(Just a 2cmx2cm round lump on my head)
The docter said that its alright to keep so I did not have to get it removed but that was before I got into boxing.
During the medical will the docter examine my head? and will I be able pass with it?
thanks inadvance :)

If you two lads are British the test goes like this...
check hearing, heart, sight, blood pressure, breathing... piss on a stick... "have you had any problems in the past...any history of family medical issues?......no?.....ok...you've passed."

Dont worry. You piss in a cup - he'll dip the stick... throw the piss in the drain.
Testing for drugs... diabeties... stuff like that i think.

There are probably going to be requirements for vision testing. As far as the cyst goes, sounds like the headgear would cover that up so that should be fine.
As far as what you pay goes, that depends on the doctor.

So I've finally gotten the form for my ME1 Initial medical exam and was just wondering what is done in the 'Genitourniary examination', 'scrotal mass'. What exactly do they do?

Not at my gym no. I got it done cause well...i had to get it done. granted its not the most comfortable thing to have another man cup your balls but i'd prefer that than not get checked and wind up with testicular cancer

Tell your doctor about the cyst. You do not want to lie to your doctor, and you sure as hell don't want that sucker rupturing in a fight. If you have to have the surgery, get the surgery, and postpone the fight.
My doctor checks for blood in the urine and drugs; at my age (36, nearly 37) he does a heart workup, blood pressure, cholesterol, vision, a full chiropractic session (he's an osteopath) with X-rays of my neck (bone spurs and a narrow opening of one vertebra due to calcification from an old accident) before clearing me to fight. USA Boxing says this is the standard for Master's Division fighters and frankly, after putting as many hard miles on this old carcass as I have, I'd be nuts to not get checked out every year.
I also make a pre-emptive appointment for the first workday after a fight, BTW. It's really fun to tell his receptionist, "Nothing's wrong with me. . . yet. But I have a boxing match this Saturday, so expect contusions, muscle strains, and I'll probably need a spinal manipulation and a scrip for a handful of Vicodan." :kabong:
