bengidaro 09-30-2007, 08:29 PM Armstrong wins the whole thing. But Duran against Whitaker would be fun. The brawler against a good defensive guy. But I don't care because Armstrong wins it all.

Any one of the last 4 guys could beat any lightweight in History on any given night in my opinion.

Armstrong had serious problems with Ambers at LW, his best weight was welterweight.

TheGreatA 10-25-2008, 03:35 PM Armstrong had serious problems with Ambers at LW, his best weight was welterweight.
I thought Armstrong whipped Ambers pretty badly (from what I saw of the fight) but lost the second fight because of low blows.
He was deducted 4 rounds in the first fight and 5 rounds in the rematch.
Armstrong looked GREAT against Baby Arizmendi which was for the welterweight title but both fought at 135 lbs, also against Barney Ross when he weighed 133 lbs.

DonFlamenco 10-30-2008, 08:10 PM lightweight shane mosley needs to make that tournament list.

Based on what, Phillip Holiday?

that was shane's natural weight. he skipped 140 and went straight to 147 where he was always the smaller man. only losses were to naturally alot bigger guys aside from cotto where he lost a sd way past his prime. Shane was the man at 135. He moved up in weight because there where the money was.
IMO Duran wins the entire thing, Armstrong second

I understand all this. But that deoesn't make him an all time lightweight. Apart from Holiday, Molina and Leija his comp at 135 was pretty weak. The other guys that have been mentioned (Gans, Duran, Armstrong and Whitaker) ruled their division for a good amount of time and or beat other legends at that weight. I like Shane, but he can't make that claim and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as those other fighters.
Cadillac Man 10-31-2008, 01:33 AM I'll take Duran to win it all. How you think PBF would fare vs this competition at 35?

ya nothing on his resume really says it. But shane was sick at 135.

We already know the result of the first fight.... Whittaker through to next round. Benny wins tournament,.... only Gans gives him real trouble,.... he outboxes the rest with masterful displays.
