View Full Version : Have any of you guys got fizzled out of boxing training?
Versastyle 09-25-2007, 10:27 PM Ive been training alot alot lately, and as of now.Im quite tired of it.haha. Im sore, and just real tired feeling and blah when I go to the gym.Maybe its because I work before I go there, but it feels as if I dont even wanna do nothing. I think I need to take those recoup pills because I feel like I dont even wanna be there.haha. A day break would be good I guess.
Maybe alot of you guys wont understand on what I mean. Then again, alot of you guys dont work outside in 90 degrees plus heat moving furniture. It takes its toll on you.
David06 09-25-2007, 11:03 PM I think everyone goes through that...the difference is whether or not you take a short break and come back, or if you call it quits for good. That's up to you.

Nothing wrong with that, everybody needs a break now and then.
DA1CATAS 09-25-2007, 11:27 PM When its the harderst to train thats the best..your gaining more at this time.
I'm just looking for something that makes me wanna quit.. when I find it I wanna go right past it to find the next...
But then again everyone doesn't feel the way I do like they are the One that will reign in the Last Era of boxing.. I guess thats what makes me have no boundaries in training. and constantly wanna get stronger.
You should just keep going and work through it... You can only become more complete if you do.... Thats what I think...

haha thats cool, but remember as I stated before.Im in the moving business.Ppl think Im crazy when I tell them Im going to boxing after work. I work my body alot alot. Probably then post of the ppl on this site.I just dont post it. I even work it at work,I hustle when moving ****,as in I jog. Your body can only take so much till its over training. Plus my shin splints dont lie.haha
floydfan 09-25-2007, 11:45 PM I am a apprentice carpenter and work no less then 8 hours a day and then go train,I know your feeling work is like a syringe slowly sucking the energy out of you.But what you stated is exactly what you need a good day off no running ,no training,no nothing. And my trainer used to be work construction his whole boxing career so I really get no sympathy but It helps me too know,he knows what Im feeling when I train.

I'm a boatbuilder. And I'm probably 15 or maybe even 20 years older than you. I box 3 days a week, lift weights 2 or 3, run 4 or 5 days a week, and take a full week off every 6-8 weeks. I find that when I start having more than a few bad days in a row at the boxing gym, it's time to take a week or so and just rest and heal. My feet, my knees, my shoulders, my hands, all get sorer and sorer and then I fight like crap. Then I get bruised, I get frustrated, and I fight worse the next time. When I'm not sore anymore, I get back on it.
Take a few days. Rest and heal. Then get back in there.
floydfan 09-26-2007, 12:07 AM Yah its needed more often then some people allow, for me it's just a mental thing I always think of something I wouldnt be learning or something that wouldnt be improving if I took that day off.
Versastyle 09-26-2007, 12:09 AM It also doesnt help that I go to bed at an average of 1am. Then get up at 6:45 for work neither.:lol1: I need a new bed time.

I take a lot of naps. I come home from work, I have a nap, I eat, I go train.

After work I go straight to boxing, cause usually I get off at like 5. So I have no break in between. Then after boxing, like 2 hours later I run.

are where its at. Thats exactly what i do and if i go to boxing at around noon i shower then nap and go lift weights at night.
Salty 09-26-2007, 04:56 AM By the time i go to training i have alrewady been awake for at least 12 hours, worked between 8-10 of those out in the sun lifting heavy **** and nail gunning which is no fun on the hands/wrists. Sometimes i just skip a day at the gym as i know the body needs an extra two hours sleep. You just have to do it sometimes. You know your body best, so take a hint from it.
DoctorKillJoy 09-26-2007, 09:34 AM Its been harder for me to keep training everyday lately but i think thats just because its been almost two months since i've gotten to spar. When I'm sparring its so much easier for me to do the other stuff because I can see the benefits and have a better sense of what I need to work on.

I'm in agreeance with this. I don't have a blue collar job so i can't say that i'm busting my ass physically but sitting in a cube for 8-10 hours mentally drains the **** outta you and can make you really lethargic. I've found it easier to excercise doing hard labor because you already have the blood flowing and your body has been active.
Vers, i can relate to your sleeping schedule. I'm usually asleep by midnight and am up at 5:30am to do cardio, then I go straight to work where i sit in light traffic, work all ****ing day, then I sit in anywhere from an hour to and hour and a half of traffic to get home and then to my gym. Needless to say I'm ****ing beat but again I have to mentally prep myself, and maybe chug a redbull or something, to get my **** together to go train. I know if I don't I'll beat the **** outta myself mentally for not doing it. Sometimes you have to let your body rest though, I've done it and will have to again soon i'm sure but until then i just keep pushing on.
SpeedKillz 09-26-2007, 09:51 AM you definityely need to take brakes if u have a physical labor job and box. i was in the same situation as you and it beat the **** out of me. u need breaks dude whether u like it or not. 1 or 2 days off every now and then.
ForemanCrossArm 09-26-2007, 04:36 PM ive done physical labor before (last summer) and I actually get burnt out more right now, from just working out, than I did from that. And that was in 100 degree oklahoma heat with the sun sitting at high noon position from 10 am (on good days!!!) to 4-5 pm!! and me working WAYYY harder then I HAD too, even! shiiiit. but, yeah, working out a lot is killing me.
im really suprised i havent stopped for multiple days. i have yet to go 2 days without doing a workout. and most days i put in multiples it seems like! jeez. i actually am a little thankful someone knocked down the heavy bag in our gym, otherwise i would be completely dead right now..
i still have one not-completely-healed fractured knuckle.. i had two broken pinkies (both healed now, only took like a week, i have amazing bone/muscle recovery). hands were pretty bruised up, but its been a week since i've hit the bag and they feel good again. it's also got me hitting the weights more and actually looking to do more cardio. have actually been running, just running lately, not playing basketball or anything, just running lately haha.. jeez.
i think inspiration is the best cure for workout fatigue, honestly.
keep it up. and i'll keep it up. and he'll keep it up. and in 5 years ill be beating all your asses at SMW/LHW.
