He was crushed by Rampage and now Jardine shreds him! The paper champ is no more.

Liddell went through the motions tonight. Dire performance.

I never really liked him honestly

the beer belly mohawk combination was just too much.

but he's a hard striker who took advantage of facing wrestlers/grapplers (Tito Ortiz)

I don't hate the guy .. just not a fan. saw UFC 71 live, and got to see him get KTFO'd as it happened. good stuff.

37 years old and record is now 20-5 ... where does he go from here?

Not me dude. I have always seen through the visage. If you check back on these forums you will see 5 pages of me fighting with the guys on here about chuck liddells ability. He only looks for that one punch. Chuck was scared in the introduction. He kept looking at John because he knew what was up. He can only cash in on the mistakes of others.

YOU SAY THAT NOW... all you guys used to worship him.

That is because he used to come and put on a show. Against Jackson he looked wary before and during the fight and he seemed wary as soon as the first bell sounded tonight. His confidence has obviously been serverly dented and I reckon it is a long road back for The Iceman now.

jardine's gameplan built around those lowkicks was very smart. anyone think jardine griffin 2 happens now?

Jardine got some MEAN kicks.

Chuck got up from that knockdown though.

He ain't gona retire. He will probaly fight one more fight.

don't you just love the irony ... Chuck Liddell has put so many people on their ass with one punch

and Rampage does it to Chuck and beats him in what a lil over 2 minutes?

granted he was the poster boy of the MMA and all.

It's too soon for that. I think GSP vs Fitch is due.

I think we might see somethink like Jardine vs Rampage Jackson and Griffin vs Silva?

granted he was the poster boy of the MMA and all.

Which I find kind of odd given that he doesn't seem to have much of a personality. I find Rampage a much better ambassador for the sport as he is humorous as well as a mean bastard.

he's very boring with his talk. "im gonna knock him out in the 1st round"

i know saying this now means jack **** .. but compare the interviews with Chuck when he was fighting Ortiz .. to the ones before UFC 71 vs Rampage

in all the interviews hyping Liddell/Ortiz 2 ... Chuck just had this confidence like he straight up knew he would win .. no questions asked (not saying it was ****y, annoying or anything)
but hands down Chuck knew he would beat Ortiz again

compared to the Rampage interviews Liddell would say the exact same stuff. about getting a KO in the first round .. but it didn't sound nearly as convincing.

I remember watching Liddell v Rampage and one of the commentators made the absurd comment that "Liddell looks totally focused whereas Rampage looks a little nervous." Nothing could have been further from the truth. Liddell looked like a condemned man on death row as he made his way to the octagon while Jackson was lapping it up. When the two of them went head to head before the fight Rampage looked like he was about to tear Chuck's head off and Chuck looked like he knew Rampage was about to decapitate him but put on a forced half-smirk as if to look confident and assured but it was so obviously put on that Rampage must have known then and there that he was going to win.

Houston Alexander is gonna crush them all ! That guy is a monster !

MJ406
09-23-2007, 01:38 AM
no kidding ... Liddell looked absolutly terrified

Chuck spend the first minute of the fight constantly on the move. and when Rampage flurried back, got the hell outta there (obviously not on that right hook to the jaw)

but regarding who gets the next crack at LHW title

Forrest and Jardine both make good claims .. so why not have them fight each other for it (I know its a rematch)..

and have Wandy/Ramage?

cuz if Chuck won .. he woulda fought Wandy.

either way things are a hell of a lot more interesting . because both favorites (Liddell, Shogun) lost

Chuck sucks. :bottle:

I wouldn't say he sucks, he did beat a good amount of good fighters (i'm sure some of u will disagree) and even though they're not stand up fighters, it's still an accomplishment.

I'm still mad that Shogun lost. Forrest had his number. I'm a Pride fan that will say that Pride fighters really need to adapt to the rules. Though Pride wasn't the one that trained these fighters, it's the fighters that lost their fight, not Pride...even though Pride is dead

Forrest doesn't have shoguns number, he only won because shogun gassed.

Did you guys notice that all the commentators were saying it was close, but chuck got beat all three rounds.

Notice they didn't do that closing statements things. I guess no one knew what to say.

Like I said before and many times over, Chuck needs to leave Hackelman and start training with people that can push him. He is top dog at The Pit and no one is pushing him.

i missed the post fight interviews can someone hook it up with what was said from both fighters.....

MJ406

I would think that PRIDE fighters would have some trouble adjusting

especially Shogun ... because when I saw him destroy Rampage ... a big part of his offense was his kicks to the head, while the fighter is on knees and down (generally speaking) .. there was like a 30 second segment where Shogun was just kicking the **** outta Rampage . literally

Rampage couldn't even get up .. because he would be swamped with kicks to the face ... which would be illigal in the UFC

so at least offensively I would think thats a huge adjustment to make .. don't have interviews .. but here are some ""s from the post fight

"We knew that Liddell has one style and he sticks with one style," Jardine told Sherdog.com after the fight. "I knew that if I move and take some angles on him and keep my head moving going that I might have a chance to get to him. And that's what I tried to do for all three rounds."

"I got booed and it was like a church when I walked into the ring," said Jardine (13-3-1), who redeemed himself after losing to Houston Alexander the same night Liddell fell to Jackson. "No one really cared about me. At the end when I raised my hand and everyone went crazy, I knew I won the fight."

thx homie......

no prob. if you notice the .com in the actual quote

thats the website I found it from... its a 4 minute interview with Jardine and pretty much says the same thing .. Jardine doesn't know who he wants to face next, but he wants it to be a top LHW .. and sometime down the line wants a rematch with Houston Alexander

**I think we'll have trouble finding an interview with Chuck Liddell

all the pride fighters that have fought in the ufc just dont look like them selfs. almost like they get paid off or something.

Always thought Chuck was overrated he had some good wins against Ortiz, but was never really impressed with him. Now Jardine beating him is crazy. Either he's lost his confidence after Rampage or he took Jardine lightly, could have been a combination of both.

Forrest won every round. The sub was icing on the cake. Forrest showed much improvement, but I'd like to see him fight someone like Wand. before a possible title shot.

Shogun was going to get a title shot if he beat Forrest. So maybe Forrest will get one now, but I dont think he can beat Rampage. The winner of Jardine/Chuck was already said to be fighting Silva on new years....

i was shocked that chuck couldnt read into jardines combo's. he would kick, then come in with the same punches with his chin tucked way down. i cant see how he was even able to see where he was punching. i thought chuck was gonna catch him with an uppercut and KO him.
