View Full Version : Sweaty B@stard
DoctorKillJoy 09-19-2007, 11:28 AM Is it true that the better shape you're in the less you will sweat? It doesn't seem that way for me... I've been training/ running/ working out hard for almost 7 months but everyday I'm still ending up with my shirt plastered to me and almost puddles of sweat around the bags by the end of the night. I don't have any stamina issues or anything... and its not really a problem except its kind of gross and I get sick of having to take home soaking wet shirts every night.
Any suggestions? Would a diet change make a difference? Maybe having more salt?
Its your hydration levels, it could be the heat of the gym. I've been training in combat sports for 4 years and im still soaked at the end of training

so is that a sign of good hydration levels? The gym is kind of warm but i seem to sweat more than most of the others even though i'd say i'm in as good or better shape than most there.
SpeedKillz 09-19-2007, 02:16 PM when im in working out i swear more than a whore in church. i dont think it matters if ur in shape or not, i think its jus ur sweat glands. some people jus sweat more than others...
GrizzleBoy 09-19-2007, 04:11 PM Yeah ive just come home from training and people were pointing out that they could literally see the sweat evaporating from my body lol (today seems to be the coldest day in a long time and my body heat is always quite high).
Its true i think it just depends on your body specifics. I sweat just sitting down typing messages on a forum ffs so when im at the gym it just pours out. Id be more upset if i didnt sweat to be honest. Its a reminder to me that ive put the work in.
On a side note i do drink like a horse to be honest.
Canadian Boxer 09-19-2007, 04:13 PM when i train only thing that really get wet is my hair and a little line on my back and i train outdoors alot due to the fact there no gym for a good 3 hours any direction so must my bags outside under a tree but the hot days get to you fast yet i still dont sweat much
BrooklynBomber 09-19-2007, 04:52 PM When I train I sweat like R.Kelly on a girl scout meeting.

what I dont get it......
Oh you meant "AT" a girl scout meeting. ok.. Still not funny though.
fraidycat 09-19-2007, 08:38 PM I am, if I may say, in awesome shape. I run a 5:15 mile and can do 51 pushups in a minute. But when working out, I sweat like a Catholic priest at a Little League game. I drink about a gallon of water in a 90 minute workout.

Obviously, somewhere along the way a little girl knocked the sense of humor out of your dumb head.
Versastyle 09-19-2007, 08:46 PM I sweat like a 400lber running 3rd story steps. I sweat the most at my gym. I lose like 5 pounds of weight in like 2hours at the gym.Of course I gain it all back later on,but thats alot of damn weight. It always looks as if I jumped int the pool,my whole body.
DoctorKillJoy 09-20-2007, 11:07 AM But when working out, I sweat like a Catholic priest at a Little League game.
I like that one.
I wonder if sweating has to do with age too. I played basketball and did track in high school but don't remember ever dropping buckets like i do now.
British Pitbull 09-20-2007, 01:13 PM sweating is a good thing if anything, shows your working your body hard. I always liked to be soaked after a good sesssion, helps keep the weight down to.

It's genetics. Your glands secreting sweat is predetermined wether you work out or not. Now if you have more fat on your body you also have more insolation and your body's core temp will get higher during physical exertion and yes you will sweat more than sombody with less fat. But some people just sweat more than others. No matter what shape they are in.
Tysonisgod 09-20-2007, 03:22 PM No sweat has nothing to do with how fit you are
Versastyle 09-20-2007, 03:25 PM No sweat has nothing to do with how fit you are
Sure doesnt.......
Peterp 09-21-2007, 03:23 AM NO !
How much you sweat is mainly genetic
I have seen very fit people who sweat like pigs walking
I have seen fat very unfit people hardly sweat in the hot sun
Sweating is no indication of fitness at all
Gattz187 09-21-2007, 03:22 PM pigs dont sweat thats why they roll around in mud
danny stash 09-24-2007, 02:07 PM you are all WRONG. Yes the amount you sweat is primarily in your DNA but someone who pushes their body to the point where it over heats and needs to cool down on a regular basis is going to sweat more and quicker than someone who does not regularly open up their pores. Also those who actually fight have their bodies conditioned to the response of fight or fight which includes sweat. I forget the expression but their is a medical term for when your body turns on the sweat in a combat situation. Either way the more you sweat the healthier. Think of it as your body releasing toxins....ever hear after a night of beer drinking, sweating it out the next morning.. Guys I sweat more than a whore in church and I can be doing barely nothing and the sweat starts poring out. Good for health, not good for picking up hoes in the club

sweating is based off of how hydrated your body is, your weight, size and body fat percentage, the bigger the person and a higher body fat %, the more water their body retains and easier they sweat - read an article if your that curious
I weigh about 128, body fat is at 6.7%, I'll brake a sweat, a few drops of sweat off my face here and there, but nothing like the heavyweights who look like they jumped in a swimming pool

your wrong champ...thier is some genetics involved and yes fat people do tend to sweat alot. But if you are skinny and very very active (IE pro boxer) you can sweat like a mug. I used to watch corey spinks sweat more than any human in the world in the gym...trust me on this one boys...check the post 2 above as well.
*2TOUGH* 09-24-2007, 05:26 PM http://www.hyperhidrosisuk.org/aluminium.htm
What is Aluminium Chloride?
Although many people use the terms 'antiperspirant' and 'deodorant' interchangeably, they are not the same. An antiperspirant is an astringent meant to decrease eccrine and apocrine sweat secretion, while deodorants are designed to remove and mask odor from the axillae. The exact mechanism of action of antiperspirants is unknown, but several theories have been proposed. The most widely held position is that the metal salts contained in antiperspirants physically obstruct the ductal opening of the sweat gland.
Aluminum chloride in higher concentrations than that found in over-the-counter products is effective for many people with hyperhidrosis.
