View Full Version : Why should I Vote?
Mr. Ryan 10-20-2004, 06:10 PM I'm a 17 year old kid who can't vote in this upcoming election. But the next time we vote, why should I vote? None of the politicians share my opinions and all are saying the same thing. The 2 guys running this year, Bush and Kerry, have basically the same agenda because thats what people want. If everyone in Union City wanted haze and all the pushers were selling haze, would one guy try and corner the dro market? If there was a popular candidate who did that, that would be hot. They say Kerry is liberal, but thats only compared to all the other politicians in power. I personally don't see the need to vote. Vote or die, I'm preparing my coffin.
neils7147933 10-20-2004, 07:55 PM One of the biggest pieces of false propaganda is the assertion that every vote counts. Vote or don't vote; it doesn't matter anyway. Ask Al Gore.
Then, once the election is over, it doesn't really matter either. The figureheads in our government aren't all that powerful anyway. Special interest groups and big corporations, the vastly rich run things.
And that's an optimistic view.
Mr. Ryan 10-20-2004, 07:58 PM I simply don't see the effectiveness of voting for 2 guys whose agenda doesn't differ enough for it to matter who wins. It's all about likeability in my opinion.
SonnyG8R 10-20-2004, 08:51 PM ignorant people shouldn't vote.

Unfortunately, most of them do
SonnyG8R 10-20-2004, 09:50 PM Unfortunately, most of them do
And they base their votes on who looks better on tv, who has the more appealing name, who has the most campaign signs in their neighborhood, or who their dad or brother tells them is best :p There are so many f'ing useless pieces of crap on this earth it makes me sick. only about one quarter of the people on this planet are worthy of the oxygen they consume.
neils7147933 10-20-2004, 10:03 PM many voters are uninformed on their selection's main platform. many voters don't even know what powers a president has. many voters choose their candidate based on their stance on an issue that they have no control over anyway. Is Roe vs. Wade going to be overturned in the next 4 years? No - but there are people who won't vote for Kerry or Bush based on their abortion stance. it's pitiful.

It's funny you say that. I know a stupid ***** who is voting strictly on the abortion issue, even though she isn't really sure what the candidates stances are. She's also one of these women who is skinny as **** and yet whines about being overweight all the time. If i wasn't such a gentleman I'd punch her in the stomach.
Dr.Depravity 10-20-2004, 10:42 PM If you dont care for either candidate, vote for Nader, if hes officially still in the race. Otherwise dont vote. If you dont like either one why vote?

Lessor of 2 evils.
neils7147933 10-20-2004, 11:11 PM Like George Carlin says, he doesn't vote. He stays home and jerks off instead. At least then, he has something to show for it when he's done.
Boxerdog 10-21-2004, 01:49 PM If you are ignorant about the issues and the candidate's stance on them, you ABSOLUTELY should not vote.
Regardless of what P-Diddy and MTV say!
Explosivo 10-21-2004, 02:09 PM Im going to just jump in and agree with most of you guys that you should not vote if you dont know whats going on. If you have no idea what the two Presidential candidates stance is on the issues, dont vote for President, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt vote. There are usually lots of other things on the ballot that you really do have a say in like city and state propositions. IMO it is very important to vote on the props.
Also, if you are going to vote, only vote on the stuff you know something about. When I vote I usually only vote on 3/4 of the **** on the ballot. I dont vote for the judges and **** like that because I have no idea who these people are or what they beleive in. If you vote on everything without knowing about it, you usually are taking away the vote of someone who actually took the time to study the issues and has made an informed decision.
abdiel2k3 10-21-2004, 02:17 PM i felt no need to vote
