Tuggers1986 09-13-2007, 12:54 PM I'm not really a 50 fan but just from watching this video you can tell he's far more intelligent than he comes across on his music.
It's a shame he doesn't show it in his lyrics. He needs to drop the thug image and get smart like Common or Lupe Fiasco. That way his music would be going in a new direction and he would appeal to so many more people. Even if it did stop the 15 yr old gangsta wannabe's from buying his records. Those numbers would be made up with the more mature hip hop fan buying his **** instead.
fasman 09-13-2007, 01:33 PM i hope he does retire, last 2 albums have been a waste of time....
You never know with 50, he might go out and cop bout 1 million of his albums by himself just to save his bull**** pride!!!

Um dude.. Not to make you look bad in front of your people again..:lol1:
But Hip Hop has been mainstream For like forever..
50 per CENT just rode a wave that was already in full swing..

He means that the level at which mainstream hip hop was at, was brought down. He used "mainstream" to separate from underground/independent rap which apparently Fix thinks is in decent shape...
If I understood correctly, Basically he's saying that 50 lowered the bar when it comes to pop rap...

Yeah I don't think anyone can doubt he's an intelligent cat. He has made some pretty smary investments. And if you consider all the records he and the rest of g-unit sold. It's impressive how much they did in a 4 year span.
On another note 50 can't be like Common or Lupe. That's not his lifestyle. He can't rap about stuff that he can't relate to. 50 was actually out in the streets hustlin. He has real street ties there's a reason someone put out a hit on em. He just got lucky he wasn't killed.

Master P had a little run too as businessman/rapper and then he faded away. Same will probably happen with 50, as he hasn't released anything memorable since GRODT...

Yeah P did too. As with 50 his newest album is not as strong as his first that is obvious. But I like it for the most part except the love songs. The only songs that need to be taken off is that Peep Show and Fire. Those are just not good songs at all. But other than that I have listened to the rest of the album. I know poeple complain about his subject matter but. Truthfully I like listening to ganster ****. It's just the way I am. But I still can bump my copy of Ear Drum and enjoy it as well.

I see.. that makes a little more sense..
Jim_Davis 09-13-2007, 08:16 PM Looks like Im the only one who likes 50 here. Doubt he'll seriously retire though.

but before people actually made solid, complete albums.... the quality of mainstram hip-hop has decreased dramatically since artists like 50 cent and the southern snap artists gained popularity.

50 Cent should of tried to reinvent himself after GRODT. Instead we got some candy shop bull**** that he would always diss Ja about.
