From http://www.mmaweekly.com/

MMAWeekly.com has followed up regarding the situation between Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz. Basically no news is bad news for MMA fans as the proposed fight will most likely NOT take place in June.

MMAWeekly.com has learned that not only has the UFC not had any talks with Tito Ortiz recently, but there are no meetings scheduled in the near future.

Chuck Liddell has told MMAWeekly.com on many occassions that he is looking forward to fight Tito, if Tito would step up the plate. If not Liddell said he would by fighting in June no matter what. As of today that has not happened and as they days go by, it looks less and less probable, especially by June.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

IMO (Curly)
Dana should tell Tito he either defends the title or gives it up.
The injury and money excuses are old. Put up or shut up.
If Liddell was the champ Ortiz would be online every day talking shit about him not fighting.

This pisses me off. Chuck is getting dissed. Chuck should be given the belt. at least he would defend it.

Like I said before, Tito will NEVER fight Chuck, no matter what.

It will happen!!! It must happen!

Tito posted on the UG about 4 days ago saying, "The fight will happen, its in the hands of Zuffa now".

I don't believe him. I think Chuck owned Tito in training and the prospect of meeting Chuck in the cage scares the piss out of him. Chuck got farther than Tito ever did in collegiate wrestling and is a far better striker. Tito is just scared of Chuck, plain and simple. The fight will never happen. I hope I'm wrong, but I rarely ever am.

I dont think Tito is at all scared of chuck after all the fights he had, this is just in hands of zuffa and a matter of time.

Its hard to believe that he isnt scared, since it seems like he keeps ditching out on this fight that NEEDS to happen. Chuck is a champion no matter what, he fights no matter what happens, and backs down from no one, he is a true champion.

He needs to either fight or drop the title, enough of this shit.....

no doubt kaps, it makes him look weak.

He should drop it, move up to heavyweight, and UFC should hold a LHW tourny for the vacant title......

NO!!! YOU ARE WRONG!!! Tito has never faced the level of competition that Chuck has and is shitting himself. Finally there is a competitor that isn't too old, cut too much weight to fast or is much smaller than him. It's not up to Zuffa, it's up too Tito and that's why the fight will never happen. This is arguably the most anticipated match in UFC and MMA history and Zuffa wants it to happen. Tito will give up the title before meeting Chuck in the Octagon. Mark my words!

Man Tito is really starting to annoy me, he needs to take this fight. And, if it was in the hands of Zuffa we probably would have seen it on the card for ufc 42.

Forget Tito. Go to Pride and fight Vanderlei or Rampage.

tito is a punk that only fights guys he knows he can beat. when he has to fight a guy that might give him a run for his money he pulls up lame with some fake injury.

Holy Shit are you serious? I don't know why Tito's taking so long, he's proven he's great and even Rampage admits to Tito being better than himself. It surprises me Tito's been avoiding this and will continue to do so. Even if Tito's still injured then he shoudl fight in June. Keep in mind he's a professional athlete who owns a title and has had months to heal and improve. Liddel deserves the title and if Tito won't fight in June let the fight w/ tanner be for the LHW belt. That's right, strip Tito of the belt if he doesn't fight in June. Hopefully Rampage will be the new Pride Champion and Silva can come to UFC and fight Chcuk i his first title defense.

I don't see either of them taking a loss before they are the only two at that weight in UFC fighting & winnig. I bet they fight pretty soon. I want to see this fight.

I hate Tito bashers. Give the man some time, he comes into each fight and destroys people. Hes also the champion..ill say that again for you CHAMPION. Now i know most of you in here have never been "champions", but when your on top you need to do everything to stay on top.Not taking anything away from Lidell but Tito gets to decide when this fight happens. Hopefully in June.

Chuck comes in and destroys people too. He found last at the same event as Tito. Chuck is ready. Why isn't Otriz?

Part of being a champ is actually fighting too, as well as being ready to fight. There are a lot of champs who are better for that reason. Nog(former champ), Silva fight nearly every pride event, Hughes fights every second event. Tito will have fought twice in two years(if he actually accepts the fight).

I definetly agree with what your saying lightweight. Some fighters are different then others though, some may need more time to heal....AHH **** it... he's a (NO FIGHTER BASHING)they should fight real soon

Even if Tito takes the fight and beats Chuck it will be hard to think of Tito as a champ because of the way he acts. He needs to lose the drama, and take the fights.

How much time does he need, i dont see anyone else making excuses after each UFC goes by on why he didnt step up and fight, it seems like he only fights once every 18 months, its getting pretty annoying, we the fans dont get to see the fight we want. When he keeps ducking out asking for more money it makes him look like a weak champion to people, that is why he is losing a lot of respect from people.

If Tito beats Chuck, then everything you just said is bullshit.

That "Drama" is part of all great champions.

Look at Ali. I am sure a lot of people thought of him as disrespectful at the time. Ask people what they think of his show boating now

I'm not talking about that kind of drama like trash talking, it's how Tito is being a drama queen. When the challenge comes it's excuse after excuse. He won't sign the fight but he publicy says how he'll beat down chuck, it's very frusterating to fans, nevermind how pissed Chuck must be. That's not how a champ acts.

Ali talked the talk but he also walked the walk. Bad example.

Very true

I guess we will have to wait and see.

I say wait until UFC 44 or 45. If the fight hasn't been signed by then, then strip Tito and give it to Chuck.

Chuck really needs to get a shot, even if Tito is a little bit banged up, you gotta defend sometimes.

Or a better idea, if TIto is so hurt, strip him of the title now. Then have Chuck fight Evan Tanner or someone for the title in June. Then once Tito says he is healthy, he gets a crack at taking the title back.

Tito won't lose any money from not fighting in a title fight (he will get first shot, and won't need any matches before hand) and Chuck will get the shot he deserves
