Alright guys. On a recent trip to Dublin I bumped into a group of Aussie lads about the same age as myself. I had heard so much about the banter between the two countries but to my suprise they didn't really see it as a laugh and there seemed to be a genuine resentment towards me and my mates. I was just wondering what the feeling is of other Aussies towards us English? I've always enjoyed my fair share of Aussie baiting but deep down I have huge admiration for Austrailia and its people. My love of neighbours now lies in tatters and needs to be restored.

id say 99.9% of us aussies treat it the same way.....just friendly banter. No harm or hurt intended at all.

I resent you Ozzy bastards.
We pack you off across the ****ing world cos you keep smashing up our peaceful English villages and stealing our stuff.
And instead of suffering you build a nicer country than ours and its ****ing sunny all year round.
Bunch of wankers. Lets swap, you don't ****ing deserve it!
And were taking the Rugby World Cup home again! Watch this space!

terrible to hear monk but not all that suprising. id still say the majority of australians would rather have a joke and giggle.. but we've got a fair number of red neck dickheads floating around who wouldnt be able to take a sledge from their own mother.
id still say its more love than hate ;)
maybe you didnt hear mickey but australia won their game last night by 88 points.
haha and no country swap. i love having being in a country 10 times larger with a 10 times smaller population. ancestors didnt really think that one out did they mick? :D

hahaha i spent a month in england would never ever want to return (apart from the love of taking the piss out of the english for it). But yeah most aussies would take it as a joke rather than hatred, but there is always *******s where ever you go. You must have just met them.

My faith in neighbours has been restored! I knew it was mainly abit of banter between the majority. Both countries obviously have a few ****s who don't understand the humour. I've met plenty of aussies before, normally in walkabout drinking alcopops, who are a good laugh. Now put another shrimp on the barbie and make sure you don't miss us teahc you a lesson in the 20/20 world cup. Look out for Luke Wright, this lad will be a star.
