Since every other red blooded poster here is screaming hatred at their own life then so will I.

Since everyone seems to fight as a solution to combat the rage, then I shall too!

Bugger this working, lifting weights, sleeping ****, killing time until I know what the **** is going on with my life. **** IT.
I'm gonna get back into martial arts whilst I'm here.

I will see if I can find some good Vale Tudo/BJJ schools around here. I'm thinking John Wills Machado (since Peter De Been's BJJ school is out). I might look for a good boxing school too so I can kick some serious ass.

Thanks for inspiring me all with your hatred.

I'm pretty sure I'm one of the screaming posters you are referring to. I am also joining a Vale Tudo school next week.

Ring/training area looks big.

Wish there was more info on the instructors though.

I think I would like to train with John Wills. He seems to know half the senseis I train with in LA :) Plus he does tours and seminars in LA so it will be good to see a familiar Aussie face once in awhile... :) I'll check it out.

Yes I'm moving to LA but thanks to this war, I don't know when that will be!

So basically until I hear further I have to assume I'm stuck here.

Hence, I'm looking for a place to train at so I can unleash the fury proper.

Got my first official verbal warning today.

"Availability & Attitude"

My boss' interpretation of company internet usage is that none of it is for personal use. I explained that I interpreted it as saying that we have limited usage so long as it does not intefere with our work. Rather than take the route of saying I believe it is interfering with your work, he said it was one of no personal usage. I was told forums are in the same category as chatting (which is rubbish because if it was, then he should have tried to sack me - which is the policy for chatting at work).

To which, I suggested he double check his references and get it changed because that's not what our Intranet says. I also explained I checked this with three support supervisors and the department manager on interpretation of company policy. They had no problem with it. So what does he tell me? That they aren't HR and it's not their place to comment on HR policy (nice huh? just completely nullify that anything my superiors tell me means nothing).

He also went on to explain that these policies at best are severely outdated and that policies as they apply to this section is entirely different to other departments (so we're being singled out now!) Ok. Fair enough - so I suggested they re-write them then and inform everyone of these changes (as opposed to changing them and not telling everyone). I all but requested that I should not be admonished over my interpretation of these policies.

They got me on the few times I've been late. I pointed out I live 90 min away, rely on other people to get to work. I pointed out that unforseeable acts of God can and do happen (trainstrikes, cows falling from the sky, etc). He said this is not his concern.

"Catch an earlier train" he said. So there you have it. If you're late because of a train cancellation it's still your fault. In Germany you can get notes from the transit company explaining you were late because of a delay caused by their company. Too bad we can't do that. And even if we could, I was told today that they wouldn't accept it. He did say he could accept a once a month delay as an act of God. I said I'm already doing my best. I was told to try harder. So instead of an 11 hour day I can expect a 12 hr day just to accomodate it.

I was told off for being unavailable to deal with customers. Some of this was legitimate concerns. For instance me using the Internet for personal usage when the customer was on the phone. I feel that some of these were taken out of context. One time I left a screen up from my lunch break. Otherwise I was doing stuff inbetween doing what I was doing. I type at 90wpm. I can't focus on doing 400 things at once like they want us to. What I can do is post 3 seconds here, 3 seconds there when it doesn't interfere with my work.

That said, othertimes in work mode and doing something non-work related (I forgot to get myself out of work mode). I tried to explain that I can't focus on other jobs whilst I'm taking that call. But I can pot around and type a few things here and there on other things. None of these points were addressed. Instead I was told between the hours of 9-5 he owns me, to put it mildly. I can see the argument but there needs to be an understanding that people do **** that's not work related.

I was told off for a personal call. I explained that this was when I found out Astro's situation - he was in hospital and found out he has to leave the country -- a once off situation. My best friend had a snapped Achilles tendon, was in hospital (for his third operation on it) and possible treatment for a staph infection when he found out he was to be deported. The fact that the call was begun during my break and spilled briefly (under five minutes) over and a once off incident appears to have been lost on them. They said in emergencies you can make a call, you just gotta ask. Furthermore, my new supervisor pointed out during the meeting that I have asked since then if I can make a personal call. So if I've already demonstrated that I was following the rules, why bring it up? So why this was raised I'm not sure of.

The other argument were things I have said to staff and customers in email and in jobs. Some of them were inappropriate (ie. implying customer stupidity) and so forth, for which I apologised and said no repeat occurences will occur again. I did say however that in at least one case, my comments were completely innocent and I was alarmed that they could be taken so out of context. Great so now I have to ensure that everything I type is 100% PC and doesn't offend anyone. I mentioned that this could affect the time it takes to complete my work. He said I was exaggerating. I said I don't believe I am. He said if that's the case, to start using emoticons in email and jobs. Uh uh -- so I'm thinking if I call you a **** smoking arse bandit but end the sentence with a smiley :lol3: then it's all good? OKAAAY...

As it is, I have to look for another job, if for no other reason in that I can't handle a 12 hour long work day. I'm struggling on 11 as it is (8 hr shift, 1.5 hrs to get to work, 1.5 hrs to get home).

So there you have it - a lot of **** really. Nothing substantially worth warning me over. They dredged up a lot of issues which I thought were water under the bridge but basically they pulled them up. If they just wanted to discipline me, they'd mention a few specific incidents. But they didn't. They pulled up a heap of bull**** and justified it as an excuse to give me a warning.

I can foresee another coffee accident occuring before my departure....

I've said it before and I'll say it again: **** THIS ****.
