View Full Version : Everlast gloves=hurt hand
boxing4ever 09-02-2007, 03:29 PM I purchased the Everlast professional training gloves(http://store.titleboxing.com/titleboxing-everlast-velcro-trainig-gloves.html) about 7 months ago, and I have noticed that my hand gets hurt alot in them compared to other gloves. Could it be because the cuff on the gloves is too long? the cuff covers almost my whole forearm. I paid 80 dollars for these gloves and im disapointed on how they turned out to be. I am looking for new sparring gloves. I need some advice. are these grant campeon training gloves any good

VERSATILE2K9 09-02-2007, 04:37 PM I have these in 16oz cause my trainer said it would do my hands good. They actually do too.http://store.titleboxing.com/title-gel-hook-and-loop-world-training-gloves.html Its really cushioned by the knuckles. This is coming from a guy thats sponsered and has everything including his ring,Everlast.
Undefeated 09-02-2007, 05:23 PM Yea me too.. I've hurt my hand like twice with them everlast shits. Ima get those gloves from Grant. I hear they're good also.

I think its because the cuff is so long on my forearm that I cant really loosen up my arm.

BmoreBrawler 09-03-2007, 03:05 AM Dont get title, I have title plats and theyre too soft to back anyone off of ya in sparring...go with ringside IMF tech(big and bulky) until your hand heals then Reyes and alternate in between.

those reyes are meant to be lethal in sparing, i heard they are real hard and cut you up real bad.

That's what I use, they are 16 oz. and they leaving my knuckles hurting really badly, as if they were being squeezed badly. When i'm done doing bag work it hurts to make a first for the first 5 minutes or so, I don't know why.

Some of the Grant gloves you can get with a long cuff, but none of the Gel Title gloves have that. I have the Title bag gloves, not the sparring ones. I had injured my knuckles with 2 pairs of Everlast,so I switched up under my trainers guidance. Now my knuckles dont even feel it,because there is enough padding in front on the gloves and its real snug when you put your hands in.My 16s I have feel like 22oz gloves also.haha.
Why spend all that money on some Grants when you can get gloves that do the same for cheaper? Even the North American Welterweight Champion at my gym doesnt wear those expensive ass gloves in sparring or bag work. Its all showing off to get those to me unless you're a bad ass in the gym and everyone looks at you murder your sparring partners and the bag.

reyes are punchers gloves. But whats the point of wearing them for sparring, they dont offer great protection for your hands and in sparring your not meant to try and murder your opponent but trying to work on things for your up coming fight
adietheforestfa 09-03-2007, 06:35 PM Iv recently purchaced some top of range Lonsdale, they are the dogs bollocks and only cost £10.00 in sale.
ForemanCrossArm 09-03-2007, 06:47 PM um, am i the only one here who thinks that your hands SHOULD hurt.. I had been using a pair of 8 oz. old-shitty-worn-out bag gloves on a 150-200 lb. heavy bag with just light tape around my wrist and knuckles. yeah, my hands hurt a little bit, but not enough to make a whole post (this is a reply :P) about it.

You must be featherfisted,no matter the size of the bag. Thats suicide for someone that can punch. You would have a broken hand for sure.
ForemanCrossArm 09-03-2007, 07:11 PM no, no it is not. if you have strong bones and you hit it straight then it isn't "suicide." I did almost break my wrists a few times (and my left is still a little sprained), but my hands are fine.
and pain is more tolerable for me, that may have something to do with it, to show pain is to feel pain..
boxing4ever 09-04-2007, 12:11 AM so what should my choice be guys?
title gel training lace up gloves(69.99)
or
grant campeon training gloves lace up(69.99)?

The question is.The lower tier of Grant gloves? Or the higher tier of Title gloves.;)
nedcmk1 09-04-2007, 10:20 AM #1. yes Reyes are punchers gloves, but there is a design difference in Reyes training gloves, and reyes fight gloves. Reyes training gloves are top notch.
#2 those gloves you have.... many people have torn themselves up with them.
#3 the long cuff isnt your problem... the long cuff is actually good, and offers a lot of wrist support which you need if trainign day in and day out. Cletos have a long cuff, and 16 grants will feel like they come up to your elbows.
