Yaman 08-30-2007, 05:30 PM To me it will forever be Marciano-Walcott 1
kayjay 08-30-2007, 07:27 PM To me it will forever be Marciano-Walcott 1
B/c it was a lineal HW championship, if you add the significance factor then that's it. The one that gives me creeps is Hearns-Duran. Jackson against either Graham or Norris as well
The Troll 08-30-2007, 08:01 PM To me it will forever be Marciano-Walcott 1
That's what I would go with.
Panamaniac 08-31-2007, 01:01 AM Tyson over Spinks
Hearns over Duran
Duran over Lampkin
Ali over Liston (II)
merjohn32 09-04-2007, 11:23 AM I'd also go with
Rocky Marciano vs Joe Walcott I
The Monk 09-04-2007, 12:33 PM Jackson vs Graham for me. Herol was doing so well then to be caught like a monster punch like that was shocking and brutal.
poet682006 09-04-2007, 01:56 PM Here's a sleeper from a fight long forgotten: Mike Weaver's one punch 15th round KO over John Tate.

i was actual going to say that, i watched that fight last night jst downloaded it of wbva, tate was quite away ahead before that. in fact i would say it completely ruined tate's life he was a good boxer and had good skills but he was never the same after that one punch, then he got onto drugs and died in a car crash in 1998. shame he was another wasted 80's heavyweight.
ForemanCrossArm 09-04-2007, 11:07 PM What about Sonny Liston over Albert Westphal (#4 HW Contender at the time), the fight lasted 1:58 and he was knocked out for over 2 minutes.. Now ain't that something.
Sonny Liston on how he won "Left jab, right hand" and the right hand was more like "right hand of God."
ForemanCrossArm 09-04-2007, 11:09 PM Ali over Liston (II)
That wasn't even tech. a kayo punch.. He got up and they started fighting again because Ali never retreated to a neutral corner. The ringside timekeeper is the one who ref'ed that kayo. Plus, that punch wasn't jack, and we all know it..
Saint Anus 09-05-2007, 08:49 AM Sugar Ray Robinson-Gene Fullmer.......it had everything. Style, speed, power. Fullmer was a tough guy, never been stopped before, Robinson was a fading fighter, well past his prime.
KO 6 in the video.
Jersey Joe Walcott-Ezzard Charles.....He became the oldest man to win the heavyweight title with that devastating 1 punch. Also ****in stylish.
KO 7 in the video.
I also like Roy Jones-Montel Griffin. Just a grudge match victory. Its such a awkward punch.
KO 10 in the video.

Wiley Hyena 09-07-2007, 08:35 PM Don't forget Foreman's knockout of Gerry Cooney. lol
Boxing Coach OG 09-08-2007, 02:38 AM let's take it even further back: BOB FITZSIMMONS' kayo over JIM CORBETT with that SHIFT hit to the stomach in the late 1890s.
Wiley Hyena 09-08-2007, 03:20 AM Or, Jim Jeffries' one punch knockout of Fitzsimmons in 1899, the last great fight of the 1800s.
Dempsey 1919 09-08-2007, 05:01 PM Or, Jim Jeffries' one punch knockout of Fitzsimmons in 1899, the last great fight of the 1800s.
Going ooooold schooooool!!!:D
bengidaro 09-08-2007, 09:06 PM Marciano knocking Walcott out. My favorite part of the whole thing is he drops him so he's sitting on the ropes. Then punches right behind the ear then just walks away. Gotta love THE ROCK!
SkillspayBills 09-08-2007, 11:54 PM I was going to say SRR's left hook on Fullmer, it's in the world encyclopedia as the perfect punch.

And a beautiful textbook left hook it was!

NeXt In Line 09-11-2007, 02:01 PM I've only seen one person mention this so far: Tommy Hearns KO'ing Roberto Duran. That punch was probably the most vicious thing I've ever seen, never has Duran been put down like that, not against Leonard or Hagler (both of whom beat Hearns).
I think it was the Tale of Hagler/Hearns where one guy referred to that as "If there is a sweet spot in boxing for a punch, that was it."

Boxing Coach OG 09-14-2007, 12:19 AM SUGAR SHANE MOSELY ko of MANUEL GOMEZ was nice. Great follow-thru rite hand.
Boxing Coach OG 09-14-2007, 12:43 AM not necessarily the greatest (open to debate). However I do like Joe Gans' kayo of Kid Herman, early 1900s ( I collect old fight tapes, uh, let's just call it collecting...lol). Aaron Davis' kayo over Mark Breland was nuts tho.
Wiley Hyena 09-14-2007, 10:21 PM Marciano knocking out Jersey Joe Walcott....oh....crunch!
poet682006 09-15-2007, 01:25 AM You know, I've got to put in votes for Bob Foster KOing Mike Quarry with one left hook and Floyd Patterson KOing Ingemar Johanssen with that leaping left hook in their second fight.

ianwigley 09-15-2007, 08:26 AM Have a look at Julian Jackson - Herol Graham. That trumps them all...
Brunswick Assassin 10-08-2007, 11:33 PM Jersey Joe Walcott's left uppercut on Ezzard Charles which is one of the best KOs of all time!
Darkstranger 10-12-2007, 11:01 AM Jack Johnson V Stanley Ketchel
Ketchel was knocked out cold and lost 4 teeth in the process. One of which was embedded in Jack Johnsons glove!

That was one HELL of a punch, and Johnson got up off the canvas to deliver it.

I was going to mention these 3, that punch jones threw was a uppercut/left hook, many say it was a left hook but it's not, it came from deep down and up to griffin's chin, the power of that punch even snapped griffin's head back, it left him in another world.
