Alright so sometimes when I'm throwing my jab a lot, or too fast and too hard, the muscle on top of my arm just before the elbow just really starts to hurt, this is when I'm snapping the punch. Any advice?

Any advice? msagrain 08-28-2007, 06:38 AM do you warm up properly? xploda11 08-28-2007, 06:53 AM most of the time, but when i'm at home, no Salty 08-28-2007, 07:54 AM that could be your problem, maybe start with a slow round or two on the heavy bag and some slow pushups and stretch. Or take a day or two off and R.I.C.E the muscle so it is as good as new again. msagrain 08-28-2007, 11:44 AM a good way to warm up is just do some light skipping then put the rop above you head and pull pack on it, so it streches you shoulders Darkstar 08-28-2007, 11:59 AM Yon always need to warm up. Break a slight sweat and at my gym we always do arm circles too. I mean alot, small circles forward and then back. Then huge circles back then forword. All about 30-40 seconds each. You really never see that anymore. floydfan 08-29-2007, 12:33 AM Arm circles are awesome, but seriously warm up and cool down properly this helps prevent injuries and helps with recovery time of your muscles. TheWolf 08-29-2007, 01:11 AM Give it some serious time to heal if you can... Unless you have a fight on the way or someting it would be for the best. Some muscle groups are annoying, have less blood flow and repair themselves slower. themonk 08-30-2007, 06:02 PM whats R.I.C.E? punchDrUnK MONK 08-30-2007, 07:44 PM ya u might need to take time off.. but jus use that shoulder to pop the jab, time it. do stretches for ur arms before training... i dunno what more to say VERSATILE2K9 08-30-2007, 09:33 PM Alright so sometimes when I'm throwing my jab a lot, or too fast and too hard, the muscle on top of my arm just before the elbow just really starts to hurt, this is when I'm snapping the punch. Any advice? I had that problem when I extended my jab too much. I was told to do it,but now I got used to it,and I can use my jab as a power punch now.I think you just gotta work threw it.It can benefit you if you over come it.It did for me. Southpaw16 08-31-2007, 03:11 AM Yeah, I got that happening to me a lot when I started boxing. Most people do. Warming up properly is the key. After you've been boxing for a little while longer you won't get that anymore. Your muscles are just getting used to this new hyperextending motion that happens when jabbing. Until it heals up, try to spend more time hitting the heavy bag and less time shadowboxing. If you hit the heavybag your arm won't extend quite as fully and the punch will recoil off the bag so the arm doesn't hyperextend as much. xploda11 08-31-2007, 05:51 AM yer i been boxing for a long time, i just haven't been training for a while vBulletin® v3.8.0, Copyright ©2000-2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
