View Full Version : My Dream: Day By Day.
ForemanCrossArm 08-22-2007, 09:10 PM Hi. I'm 20 years old. 6'4", 178 pounds (Just below 180, currently), and I have the stupid, un-realizable, etc.. dream of becoming the next Super Middleweight great [Or 170 lb. catch-weight great], ha.
I've just really started training, I'm currently in college [Oklahoma U.], and I plan on giving this a (truthfully) good run.
To help me stay committed, I plan on updating my progress, my training schedule/routine, my diet, my weight, etc.. etc.. WITH PICS [duh.].
I'm a southpaw, but I also like dropping my left and using the flicker jab with my left (a little roy jones-ish). I've been trying out diff. techniques (no real trainer yet, I hope to get one here in Norman, OK. by the end of this month, though) and in love with the peek-a-boo defense, as well as the cross-arm [George Foreman comeback type, lower arm level than usual]. I've got a pretty good mind for boxing I think. I'm going to try and out-box with my height, not try to out-brawl with the advantage.
This probably sounds idiotic but I really think I've got some good natural talent. My straight left is pretty damn potent already.
So flame away. Or drop some hints or whatever as time goes on. I don't care, but you gotta' start telling yourself you 'can' somewhere. This is where for me.
I've also worked 8 hr. manual labor in Oklahoma 100 degree sun busting ass (actually working hard, just to work hard, not trying to work as easy as possible which everyone tried to get me to do)* and I've never been knocked out in my 20 years on this planet. I've got a scar under my jaw where my 180 lb. friend jumped straight up into my jaw with his shoulder [a full jump, we were playing basketball] and wasn't fazed at all. That is probably actually when I really started wanting to follow this dream.. Cuts will probably be a ***** for me 'tho.
* - and not for my 'dad' for an actual construction company, with actual 300 4 ft. by 8 ft. pieces of pressed, wet ply. And a jobsite 4 football fields area-wise. Obviously these things mean little, but give you a bit of info as far as my work ethic and natural conditioning go..

Salty 08-22-2007, 10:05 PM Keep it up mate! labouring helps you out a lot, i know as i was doing plasterers labouring for a while, that is tough. Just get a trainer as soon as you can so you don't pick up bad habits and see how you go, good luck.
ForemanCrossArm 08-23-2007, 10:10 PM Pretty good day today. Walked a few miles, walked 20+ stories of steps, 1:30 on the heavybag with just bag gloves, did some weighted crunches.. And this was supposed to be a rest day. Chowed down on a **** load of veggies, skim milk, hard-boiled eggs (no yolks), peanutbutter, some granola cereal. Feel pretty good. Gonna' post some pictures tomorrow.
ForemanCrossArm 08-25-2007, 09:15 PM arrrrgh. lemme upload these somewhere..
mickeyb 08-26-2007, 05:56 AM Get yourself in a gym and get a trainer asap!

my current physique. or semi-lack-there-of.
Undefeated 09-01-2007, 12:16 AM 6'4 170... **** if you go to a gym they might drop you to 160.. Who knows..
Post up a vid.. Lets see the skills.
ForemanCrossArm 09-01-2007, 03:06 PM Yeah, except the more I've been thinking about it the more I would never want to go below 170 and fight. I've read Joe Frazier's AB and The Devil and Sonny Liston recently and am almost committed to at least being LHW if not Cruiser to start with. (And by 'start with' I mean training weight to hold).
ForemanCrossArm 09-01-2007, 03:08 PM And I'm going to start mini-dvd'ing my heavy bag sessions, so I'll put those up before the end of sept.
ForemanCrossArm 09-05-2007, 07:40 PM Hells yeh, I really can feel like my body is beginning to get a lot stronger from putting work in everyday (sometimes twice a day). I think I'll post some updated pics at the end of this week. I still haven't picked up my mini-dvd recorder from Tulsa, but I plan on doing that soon as well.
I've started listening to Rocky instrumental music while hitting the heavy bag, God, that ****in' works shumbomb. Haha, I love those beats. Plus the instrumental songs from the soundtrack are all just about 3 minutes long (most like 2:50-ish, some run 4+ 'tho). I get pumped thinking about wailing away on Drago or Clubber. 'specially Drago, that Rusky bastard. That probably sounds really childish/stupid/ghey but I really don't give a flying ****.
ForemanCrossArm 09-12-2007, 09:54 AM ****, been training for 20 days now. Doesn't seem long but that is almost a "habit" now (4 weeks).
ForemanCrossArm 09-17-2007, 11:04 AM updated pic. bout 20ish days difference, i think. maybe not even that, 2 weeks maybe.

ok. seriously, finally going to pick up my minidvd recorder this weekend when i go to tulsa for the ou/tulsa game..
DA1CATAS 09-17-2007, 11:42 AM this is nice and all.. but your gonna be boxing around the last Era of boxing which I will be reigning in.
You'd better be training ridiculously hard.

i like the attitude D... but u and me are in the same weight class brother, so u gotta get past me first...lol... :boxing::nono:
skyler 09-17-2007, 12:31 PM All 3 of you are extremely lucky your not in my weight class because it would be the end of your boxing career as soon as we stepped in the ring together ;) :lol1:.
ForemanCrossArm 09-17-2007, 12:53 PM ha ha ha ha
i have been training pretty ****in hard. i can see a pretty big difference in those pics and, like i said, just 20 days apart.
ForemanCrossArm 10-03-2007, 03:50 PM still going at it rather strong. in a gym, bout to hit 2 hour-long classes today. its pretty intense interval training. the heavy bag at my other gym is still ****ing down tho!!! i don't think ima post any vids until i start sparring (3 weeks). my body is def. beginning to change. i've gotten taller by about an inch 1/2 and i've added several pounds of muscle. my body weight is now in the 180-185 range instead of the 175-180 range. i take creatine but those weigh-ins are after a good cardio/sweat session so they're pretty acccurat, as Bush might say.
and i think ill take pics after the second class today. im sure they'll be a HUGE (especially then) diff. between the ones taken, like, 20 days ago.
GrizzleBoy 10-03-2007, 04:07 PM Good too see youre making progress keep it up man, keep us informed
greengloves 10-03-2007, 05:52 PM Shouldnt you be taking the pics of youself in the same posish for comparison? just seems common sense really.....

don't know why, but i took these in pitch dark at 6:30 this morning with just flash.. takes a little away from the definition of the muscle (especially in the 2nd pic) but i can still see progress and feel it (really feel it).

ForemanCrossArm 12-03-2007, 12:26 PM still training. starting today to feb. 1st i'm going to boost my training to another level. ive got the fire in my belly..
ForemanCrossArm 03-05-2008, 01:17 PM damn. life threw me a curveball but im still kicking and clawing at it. i think being forced away from my gym and trainer and being forced to question whether i was throwing my life away making this not just a dream but my goal has made me feel that much more strongly about it.. fixing to move back in range of my old gym by the end of this month. in the meantime i'm gonna be working my ass off on my own and with my pops, who actually wants to help train me and go pro. (how many parents would be cool with a 20 y/o deciding he wanted to box, out of the blue, basically haaha)

SugarShanep4p 03-06-2008, 10:02 PM get a real grant bag.....not a knockoff the regular one is much nicer and easier on your hands....cool gloves thou iv never seen those before
toehead 03-07-2008, 06:06 AM FLORES GLOVES!!!!!! did Danny Dan Moesby make those for you? FLORES IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST GLOVES PERIOD IF YOU CAN GET DAN TO MAKE YOU A PAIR THAT IS he made me a pair that lasted 12 years do you have his contact info? I know I have it somewhere but I can't find it
I'm in 100% the same situation as you.
I'm only 16 and I recently went from both swimming and running at midlands/national level in england and all of a sudden wanted to start boxing and found that I'm pretty much willing to work myself into the ground to get to the top, exactly the same mental frame that you seem to be in..
I've also started creating a log from the 5th March onwards so I'll get some pics sorted and might make my own one of these showing my progress and stuff.
Good luck man.

that bag was still originally $150+, it's 110lbs and beside the fact that the straps are stitched (not bracketed to the bag itself) it'll work for a home-type thing. Plus i got it for less than 60 bucks, ha.

Guy on EBAY has a collection of them that he'll post an auction for time to time. These were 18 oz, SLIP-ONS!!, and I got them for eh.. like $140 with shipping and everything. I think I got a bargain. I had ordered some Grant Pro Bag Gloves (basically same price) and the workmanship was night and day between the two with the Grants looking like **** compared to the Flores gloves. Check ebay regularly, they're gems to be had. There was a pair of like never used flores fight gloves from the 80's for like 1-2 grand a while back, jeeeeeesus...

I'm 21 on April 7 so we're not quite in the same boat. But I am willing to work myself into the ground.. I've wasted time the past few months, that's for sure. I can only keep telling myself that my dream is real and keep following it. You just gotta' keep plugging. Keep trying. Keep working. That's all it takes.
