HomicideHank 10-20-2004, 05:46 AM Dave Tiberi. Retired after his win( ) over James Toney... anthetamine 10-20-2004, 06:12 AM lennox lewis retired as champ, he knows he had to do that because his best days were behind him, that klitorous got close to beating him so he knew it was time to hang up his gloves, and for that he gets my respect i believe that if holyfield wins a title, he will think he has also retired at his best lol THRILLAinmanila 10-20-2004, 06:15 AM lennox lewis retired as champ, he knows he had to do that because his best days were behind him, that klitorous got close to beating him so he knew it was time to hang up his gloves, and for that he gets my respect i believe that if holyfield wins a title, he will think he has also retired at his best lol Yeah... always nice to retire still wearing your belt :) Good decision on the Brit's part.. tikal 10-20-2004, 08:10 AM Rocky Marcianno 49-0 nuff said pinkpanther 10-20-2004, 08:30 AM Sven Ottke can't argue with that - ah wait for the bombs elveiel 10-20-2004, 08:36 AM Sven Ottke can't argue with that - ah wait for the bombs WHAT THE ****!!!! Ha ha, i know you must be playing pink :D JOM'S 10-20-2004, 10:55 AM tikal you are totally correct about Marciano the best model for this thread retiring unbeaten (49-0) and undisputed heavy weight champion of the world.... cple 10-20-2004, 12:06 PM It's rare, but it does happen. Rocky Marciano and Gene Tunney come to mind. AJ53 10-20-2004, 12:39 PM ricardo 'finito' lopez 51-0-1 (38 ko's) m00ks 10-20-2004, 03:18 PM lewis anyone? Tito was one, but good thing he came back. jabsRstiff 10-20-2004, 03:54 PM I think nobody went out better than Marvin Hagler. He lost a fight that many thought he won. he had always railed against the "system" in boxing, & the "goodbye, **** you" he gave to the system, has really added to his aura. We never saw him hurt, or truly beaten. He never came back. THRILLAinmanila 10-20-2004, 09:19 PM lewis anyone? Tito was one, but good thing he came back. Tito came back at the perfect time, someone needed to bring up some fresh challenge in a division that's been dominated for a long time by Hopkins..Having said that...if Tito wins against Hopkins in a future fight, wouldn't that be a perfect time to retire ??? jack_the_rippuh 10-20-2004, 10:04 PM Well we could have been saying Jones if he would have retired immediately after the Ruiz fight... THRILLAinmanila 10-20-2004, 11:28 PM Well we could have been saying Jones if he would have retired immediately after the Ruiz fight... a golden moment that slipped away ....... THRILLAinmanila 10-20-2004, 11:33 PM Rocky Marcianno 49-0 nuff said BOOM ! There's my pick right there :) HomicideHank 10-21-2004, 02:36 AM It's rare, but it does happen. Rocky Marciano and Gene Tunney come to mind. Gene Tunney did it for the right reason, to marry into a rich family. The little woman said he had to give up the fighting to get in the family. :D nohero 10-21-2004, 03:34 AM Rocky for sure... but when a fighter retires on top you always "wonder" how much further he could have gone. What if Rocky came back to fight Patterson who was calling him out? 50-0? It kinda sucks that we'll never know. chito 10-21-2004, 07:43 AM did marciano ever retire? i thought he was killed in an accident. theironone 10-21-2004, 07:49 AM He officially retired, then was killed (i think) one day before his 49th birthday in a plane crash - that truly sucks Italian250 10-21-2004, 08:19 AM If only Holyfield would have retired after his 1996 ass kicking of Mike Tyson..... pinkpanther 10-22-2004, 12:02 PM ricardo 'finito' lopez 51-0-1 (38 ko's) what a fighter {BrownBomber} 10-22-2004, 06:39 PM Ricardo López Sex Male Nationality Mexico Alias Finito Birth Name Ricardo López-Nava Hometown Mexico City, Mexico Birthplace Cuernavaca, Mexico Division Minimumweight Date of Birth 1966-07-25 Reach 65” Stance Orthodox Height 5' 5 Trainer Ignacio Beristain Manager Dwight Manley won 51 (38 ko's) - lost 0 - drawn 1 - tot 52 |
