You like a big dude, is it true that magic has tapped you a couple of times with toe holds?

View Full Version : Hey seldom! Bluecifer 03-18-2003, 03:26 PM You like a big dude, is it true that magic has tapped you a couple of times with toe holds? seldomTap 03-19-2003, 05:27 PM You would be wise to think about the motives of people making those allegations BB.... He has heel hooked me twice I think when I have been sloppy, but ask him how many times I have triangled, kimura'd, key locked, knee barred, rear naked choked etc etc ! Bluecifer 03-19-2003, 05:34 PM Figures, I thought Magic must have been some crazy TKD bad ass or something. seldomTap 03-19-2003, 05:37 PM He is good on the ground for a TKD bad ass...but to be fair, I outweigh him by about 90 lbs! Bluecifer 03-19-2003, 05:42 PM 90 lbs! How much do you weigh? Also, what do you generally think of toe holds and does Magic sound like he types(I imagine a polish accent)? seldomTap 03-19-2003, 06:28 PM I weigh about 235 - 240 epending on the scales. Toe holds can be ok, but if the guy is quick enough to react to them, you can end up in a worse position IMO. Magic is a typical Polish /Eastern European sounding guy...which is confusing seeings as how he looks Asian...he gets that from his mothers side apparently Bluecifer 03-19-2003, 06:57 PM It just seems like you'd be able to yank your foot out of that. I was pretty surprised that tank got caught by Mir with a toehold. Bluecifer 03-19-2003, 06:58 PM So magic is pretty small guy. seldomTap 03-19-2003, 08:11 PM You can yank them out sometimes, depends on the actual hold and how deep he has your foot. I am paranoid about my ankles being broken, so most heel hooks I will tap pretty quick unless it is very loose, not worth the risk to me on the mat. Yeah, Magic would be about 5'4" and about 150 or so lbs I guess. he is a strong little bastard though, I'll give him that Bluecifer 03-19-2003, 08:15 PM Heel hooks are by far my most feared hold, I'm mean I'm scared of 'em because I think that it's a bad ass devastating move and dangerous manuever if you have a shitty partner, I was referring mostly to the catch wrestling type toe hold where you figure 4 the toes and ankle. seldomTap 03-19-2003, 08:18 PM They aren't so bad..I can normally sit up on most of them. Have been caught a couple of times if the other guy blocks my opposite leg real good, can become kinda stuck there Bluecifer 03-19-2003, 08:22 PM I don't like the feeling of a heel hook, freaks me out, also a neck crank delivered by someone who is real strong is scary to me and I start slappin' the mat. I roll with a good friend of mine who has about 70lbs on me and he's strong as hell, he puts those on me every chance he gets cuz he knows I'm scared of 'em. I almost never tap to chokes though, I can usually squirm out of 'em, granted that I get put out sometimes though, especially with a triangle. seldomTap 03-19-2003, 09:26 PM I am a big fan of neck cranks...either as a take down, can opener from inside guard or as something I switch to from side control...sweet and nasty Zen 03-20-2003, 11:06 AM I hate can openers, I have had a sore neck for about a week from ****ing can openers. Bluecifer 03-20-2003, 04:47 PM Did you see Coleman apply that neck crank to that japanese guy in Pride a few years back? I though he was going to kill him... bob 03-22-2003, 07:35 AM toe holds are ****en gr8 if you are good at them bob 03-22-2003, 07:36 AM im not seldomTap 03-25-2003, 03:38 AM Kerrs can opener on Borisov Igor at Pride 10 is an all time favourite of mine vBulletin® v3.7.1, Copyright ©2000-2008, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
