thanks that's real good i'm esspecially looking forward to vargas-mayorga as it'll be a war and calzaghe-kessler. I'm not to fussed about barrera-manny as manny will ko him even quicker even though i hope marco will beat him.

While MAB-Pacquaio does seem a bit one sided, its good news that setanta are showing it because SKY have shown Juan Marquez's last 3 fights, so it pretty much guarantees that we will get to see JMM-Pacquaio 2 when it finally happens next year. That is a fight i definately want to see and both SKY and setanta will want to show it.

I hope your wrong. I reckon they will offer a deal like they did with hatton-catillo where you buy it for a few months and get the fight.
I cant wait for that fight and it'll show everyone how good calzaghe is.

Calzaghe-Kessler is definately not ppv, all those fights i listed will be on setanta 1. Mayweather-Hatton could be ppv though

That's cool then because I have just signed up, saying that Sky did it for years but Setanta want the business so.....

I agree it's **** but at least there showing the fights. I thorght the cotto judah fight was well good on setanta.
Also they dont have breaks beetween each round like sky and itv do so you can enjoy the replays of the round.

i did make a thread a while back about how **** and unprofessional setanta's coverage was, but as no 1 said, at least they're showing boxing.

as long as they show the complete fights, i'll put up with the ****ty studio analysts and mis-spelling of boxers names...

i mean, we got a bernard dunne / brian magee / matthew macklin / andy lee card coming up later this month, then we'll have the non-amir khan sports network shows including calzaghe-kessler. They're also showing the pacman - mab fight in october, and vargas-mayorga and the clinton woods fight in september. well worth a tenner a month imo.

What do people find **** about Setanta?

I find it OK, the football coverage is decent as is the boxing, the only thing I wish that they would offer a HD option.

Give it a year or two and they will hone their skills in the same way Sky did in the early days.

Sky's coverage of boxing is ****ing awful. Commentary from Ian Darke is horrible. He uses the same stock phrases ("something has to give"; "someone has to go to the barrell"). If you watch Sky's coverage of Castillo - Corrales I, Barrera - Morales trilogy, Ward - Gatti fights and then watch HBO or Showtime's coverage (whichever covered the scrap) it's as if you're watching a different scrap.

Sky employ Jim Watt (who?), Johnny Nelson (who I do respect), Adam Smith and Barry McGuigan (who I respect as a boxer, not a pundit). Ian Darke is a boring bloke who adopts a stern voice for all he commentates on, and offers little in the line of good commentary and critical opinion.

Setanta may be mediocre, but at least they give you US commentary, and at least they're giving us scraps. Beats the BBC in terms of the latter.

you say Jim Watt who and then you come out with Johnny Nelson and say you respect him, Helson was the biggest bottler in british boxing hand picked for most if not all his career, and was involved in the worst/boringest fight in boxing history, his commentary is so ****e it's unbeliveble theyditch BARRY McGuigan and bring in this prick, agree with you on everything else though, Big Glen seems to score the fights spot on.

I respect Johnny Nelson as a commentator. Johnny Nelson wasn't the greatest boxer, I appreciate that. Jim Watt is hopeless as both boxer and pundit. Barry McGuigan is ace, only problem with him is that he fought a 23 year old Mexican plumber in a car park in the middle of the Nevada desert in 1985. Outside that, he's the business.

Johnny the bottler as a commentator thats a laugh, he comes out with things like he has'nt got man power yet and he's more tougherer that he was, it's one classic **** up after another, right about Jim Watt, he's the man who said there was nothing wrong with gerald mcclelland and he was just quiting.

Could that be because he's scotish?

Jim Watt was a good boxer, hes not a bad commentator but hes not a good one either.
Setantas coverage of football and the boxing is good and will improve as it goes on.

Jim Watt had a much better career than Barry McGuigan and all but a few british boxers in the last 30 years. He won the WBC title in a stacked lightweight division and defended it a further 4 times, before losing a 15 round decision to hall of famer and one of the greatest lightweights of all time Alexis Arguello. Hes also a solid commentator.
