PACQUIAO TO TRAIN IN PHILIPPINES
By Brad Cooney

I just caught up with trainer Freddie Roach and was informed that Featherweight kingpin Manny Pacquiao has flown back to The Philippines. Upon completion of the Barrera vs Pacquiao press conference, Pacquiao flew back to The Philippines with trainer Buboy Fernandez. Reports that there was a disagreement between Roach and Pacquiao were quickly squashed by Roach, “ There was no disagreement between Manny and I, there are some business matters that Manny needs to tend to in The Philippines, and it makes better sense for our training to be over there.” Roach went on to say, “ Looks like I will be flying to Cebu in the morning after the world cup fights tonight, and we'll be training for the remainder of Manny's camp over there.” More to follow soon.

I may sound un-patriotic, but what Pac needs now is to get some air out of that swollen head, and I hope Marco does it this October! But I think Pac is more un-patriotic when he didn't even think of carrying the flag of RP as the team captain of the RP boxing team, giving support to his co-boxers, thinking only of himself as "above the rest". Somebody should remind this "hero" that the higher he flies, the harder he'll fall!

me rumors na nagkaron sila ng disagreement ni ODLH kaya rin nde sya pumunta sa sacramento. baka utos ni uncle bob na wag pumunta sa world cup since ODLH promoted yung laban.... ewan lang natin. meron pa nga na baka palitan ni pac si roach but according nga ke roach eh punta ng cebu sya para itrain si pac sa bagong gym nina wakee at packy.

relax lang kapatid :D let's give his training camp the benefit of the doubt muna, world class naman yung gym nila wakee eh and i heard marami ring international fighters sa cebu na nagtratrain so makakakuha malamang ng sparring partners tong si packy. lumalayo lang siguro sila sa GBP kaya dito sila magtrain.

But based on history kasi, pag dito sa Pinas nagtrain si Pac, maraming distraction - politica, kaso sa journalist, commercial endorsements, sabong, bilyar, toma, sugal at Ara! That's why US is still the best training ground for Pacman, o di kaya sa Mexico na rin dun sa Otomi Mountains.

Pacquiao Begins Training, Waits For Roach

By Ronnie Nathanielsz

Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao squelched rumors that he had personal problems and a tiff with celebrated trainer Freddie Roach which was the reason for his sudden decision to return home in a hurry after the press conference formally announcing his rematch with legendary Mexican Marco Antonio Barrera on October 6 in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao looked trim and sharp as he went eight rounds on the punch mitts with boyhood friend and trainer Buboy Fernandez and also a couple of rounds on the heavy bag.

A huge crowd gathered outside the Wild Card Gym in BF Homes, Paranaque to watch their idol train and many were impressed with the shape he was in.

Pacquiao told Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today that he had spoken to Roach who would arrive in Manila within the next couple of days to step up his training before leaving for Los Angeles in the last week of August. Roach earlier told us he would fly to the Philippines "if Manny asks me to" even as he said reports of a quarrel with Pacquiao were "a lie."

Close friend and confidant Rex “Wakee” Salud said that Pacquiao would leave for Cebu to begin training at Salud’s new gym in Cebu but the ring warrior said he wanted to be able to train without distractions and would likely move around different training sites including Baguio City.

Pacquiao said he was “training very hard even though I am training in the Philippines where its more tiring because its hot compared to the US and it really makes you sweat.” He said “I will return to the US six weeks before the fight to get acclimatized which is something I need to do.”

Referring to the newspaper stories about his private life and other sidelights, Pacquiao said his return had nothing to do with that. Pacquiao said he had informed his group that after the Barrera press conference he was “returning home." He said "we have a strategy as to why I am training here because the Wild Card is often crowded with many people and fans of Barrera may spy on my style and people from the camp of Barrera may be there under disguise and study our fight plans.”

Pacquiao insisted there was no need for his supporters to worry because he wont “neglect myself and spoil my name as a ring warrior and people’s champion.”

He appealed to journalists to write “the truth and I have no problem with that” even as he confessed he was hurt and upset over stories which he claimed were “not true” including claims that he had a fight with Freddie Roach.

Pacquiao was visibly annoyed over media reports and rumors linking him with sexy actress Ara Mina saying he “felt sad because Ara Mina has been dragged into this . I feel ashamed and I have not even spoken to her. Its not right . We are only making a movie together but to think otherwise is unfair to the lady.” He said he had stopped filming because he wanted to “concentrate on training. I will do whatever needs to be done to win for the sake of our country.”

I wonder if Pac going into this fight at 75% readiness is good enough to defeat an older but focused Barrera at 100%.

buti sana kung 75% paano kung 50 lang he he he? i still believe he could beat mab even if he's not in tip-top shape, pero yung focus nya at yung hunger factor, yun ang pinaka-importante sa lahat di ba? sa attention na nakukuha ni pac at yung lifestyle nyang sinusunod ngayon, parang di na sya ganun kaseryosong manalo eh, outside of the boxing arena ang dami nyang gustong ambisyunin eh.

Kasi, sa sobrang init dito, madali kang mapagod o ma-exhaust, thus forcing you stop working out once exhausted ka na.

Manny has always trained for his big fights in the US. I can't see why he's not doing that now. I also heard he's trying to prevent spies from checking in on Pac's training and tactics, so he flew to the Phililppines.

Hmmm! Maniwala ako jan! Ara Mina is giving him some good *****, I bet. :D
