This is getting out of hand. Everyday there seems to be one or two new Tyson threads and an old one ressurected. Please people: Boxing does NOT revolve around Mike Tyson and it NEVER did! There are plenty of worthy fighters past and present to be discussed; we don't need to spend all our time going back and forth over a fighter who was NEVER as good as his adoring fans wish he was. So please, for the love of God, lets have a three month moritorium on Tyson threads.

PS. For all you Tyson KoolAid drinkers: Mike is RETIRED. Has been for nearly three years: GET OVER IT FOR CHRIST SAKES!!!!!

I agree with you, up to a point. Speaking to the regulars on here makes sense, and you will see them shy away from such common topics for months at a time. The new people, however, who join the community for the first time, are often attracted to the sport because he was the most recent "shining light" of the heavyweight division. Also, his fights are frequently played on ESPN Classic, and are readily accessible with a little web browsing. He was exciting, full of potential, and also controversial. He makes for good conversation, speculation, and fantasy scenarios. New material continues to find its way into the spotlight, with the release of recent books such as "Facing Tyson."

As long as new people get attracted to boxing, or even just BoxingScene.com, there will be discussion about Mike Tyson. While boxing history doesn't revolve around him, the boxing world did revolve around him for almost 15 years. His life makes for good storytelling, and again, speculation.

In all fairness, this site isn't as saturated with "Tyson-talk" as one might think. If you head over to the Non-Stop Boxing threads, there's literally hundreds of thousands of posts that have absolutely nothing to do with Mike Tyson. He was a pivotal character in boxing history, however, and he forever changed (for both good and bad) the face of the sport. That's why his topics pop up so frequently in what else, but the Boxing History section.

Nonetheless, I do agree that the topic should cease for a while, but we can't tell people what they can and can't talk about.

You're obviously new here. If you knew this place, you'd know that it used to be twice as bad as it is now. If we take a look at the pages, only 3(4 with this one) threads are about Tyson, and they go up to 5 per page at times. You can easily avoid them.

Well, the honest truth is it's getting to the point where I'd rather read the phucking Mayweather threads and I LOATH Mayweather. The Tyson threads have been beating an EXTREMELY dead horse for a long time now. If it used to be worse than THAT is truly frightening. The thing is: Mike just ISN'T that interesting ffs. What I think we have here is a steady stream of Tyson nuthuggers who are OBSESSED with their god. Dudes, it's time to find a new religion.

Yeah, but these same people are into watching Paris Hylton. Why appeal to the lowest common denominator? People like watching train wrecks too, but I'm ill inclined to indulge them.

Truth be told, I view boxing as a sport NOT as entertainment. I would rather see two quality fighters going at it then two entertaining ones.

Since you put it that way, nobody gives cares if YOU don't think Tyson is interesting. Point is, everybody else does so you're just left with an opinion on your own. And like PHX_NINJA said, people can post whatever they want(As long as it's not against the rules). I'll continue with
