152 in any type of combat sport is ferocious. Its people with both muscle and speed and you rarely have people out of shape

the top 4 p4p amatuer boxers are welterweight. kinda like they are switching places only one Russian, Uzbek, Kazak and a Cuban.

as for the lighweight there is a thia person with super duba akward style and hard to beat. In the asian olymipic he was making fun of a Korean guy where he knew he is already winning

No? The number one p4p is Tischenko (lightweight), number 2 is Zou Zhiming (jr. flyweight), number 3 is Artayev (middleweight), and number 4 is Boonjumnong (light welterweight), and actually none in the top 10 is a welterweight.

yeah used to wrestle and 152 was much harder than 160 for me i wrestled a bunch of fat kids at 160 and monsters at 152. or maybe it was just coincidence...

5.8 is probably average for light welter, a little small for welter. (amateur that is)

is that just for American standards, or internationally for amateur?

Because im 211 pounds(about 96kg) and am 6 foot 3, currently im bulking to reach about 230pounds, and then goin on a strict cut to reach 194pounds by end of next year.

I thought cruiser weight is 176 to 200 lb (90.7 kg), but if cruiser weight is only for professionals, then ill be ****ed if i dont make the cut.

Until about june next year i wont be doing boxing, because i wont be able to keep up a diet to get size and get fit at the same time, so i found it to better to get my size without risking it to cardio, and then hittin strong cardio prior to boxin, so i can be ready, lol sorry if this is a bit off topic, just thought i could contribute, anyway someone whos got professional/long amateur comptetition experience, id like to hear your comment

based on this Van Trophy thing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Val_Barker_Trophy

last two winners are welterweights and each othe them was been beaten by others WW

well first try to be comfortable with what you got dont push youself too much in the first try.

I didnt have a fight til now but that is the only advice i could give you. and it better to take more advice from you trainer

What does that have to do with a p4p list? You said the top4 p4p amateurs are welterweight. The Val Barker trophy hardly has anything to do with that. Oleg Saitov doesn't even box anymore, and Artayev is a middleweight now.

The p4p list for amateurs is here: http://www.ababoxing.com/mens%20world%20amateur%20boxing%20rankings.html

and there's not one WW on it. :)

You'd be wise to worry about amateurs first and forget about pro for a long time.
