In a survey.. an equal amount of Whites and Asians were asked if they would consider dating a person of another race...

91% of Whites said they would consider a dating a Black or Asian equally..

ONLY 44% of the Asians said they would consider a White Person and it dropped to 32% consideration for Blacks...


Um and Yet racisim is a White problem...:rolleyes:

This is no news though, right.

Of course there's good reason for it. Minorities who have historically suffered from racial discrimination have a much harder time overlooking racial considerations when it comes to most things

I'd date a chinese bird. I dunno about a black bird or a asian bird, i don't think i find them rate attractive in the scheme of things.

I think there seems like a double standard when it comes to racism. It's okay for people of other races to hate white people but not okay the other way. There is no justification for anti-white racism - it is just as nasty as any other kind of racism.

But I see the races mixing a lot here in Vancouver...people of all races are marrying people of a different race than themselves.

A lot of east Asian women here in Vancouver like white men. If you walk down the street here, you'll see many white men with Oriental women, and they seem like happy couples. The black men here seem to prefer and pair off with white women.

I do see the difference.. This question wasn't asked in a sexual preference way It was a culteral question and I didnt reprint all the reasons why people said why they voted the way they voted.. But I can assure you I am Not an idiot and I dont need a lesson in morality or to have Some PC bull**** crammed down my thorat... I didn't take the survey or answer it.. I am Just passing the info along.. OR do you think I should be censored???

Remember that a lot of this is based on family prejudices rather than individual racism. A lot of asian girls i knew in younger days would quite happily date a white or a black man if their parents or uncles or grandparents wasn't so set against it. I don't think that makes the girls racist themselves - family ties aren't as strong in the white british community so a white girl couldn't give a **** what racist uncle alan thinks.

Its true its all down to the family i think. The younger generations aren't THAT bothered about dating a man/woman of a different race. But I know that others would be. So in my mind i think "well, if i had a choice between a good looking white girl, or a good looking black girl" - i'd go for the white girl, because there would be alot less conflict easily. Thats just the way it is, i'm not saying i like, or approve of it. Thats just the way it goes down.

I'm not going to opt for a relationship where everyones gonna be winding me up, looking down or giving me snidey comments.

Yes my friend we have a large population in this area but they tend to stay with their own kind and do not stray very often.
There are of course the bolder exceptions to the rule like Cilla Black and David Fairclough and they have brought untold misery onto the golden banks of the River Mersey but on the whole you do not often see them! ;)

In all seriousness you are of course right, I agree it is a culture issue rather than a racism issues although is the culture itself not racist?

What I mean by that is if say an Asian girl wants to date a white guy but her parents/grandparents/brothers etc wont allow this due to their religion or culture are they then not standing on their racial high ground and being therefore racist, the girl isn't but is her family or her culture???

exactly your last point Micky - these things take generations to iron out, and it is harder to reach ethnic minorities with anti-racism messages than the majorityu populations.

I saw an asian girl for a few months once and she was as western and open minded as they come......but our relationship had to be strictly incognito because of her grandparents. I respected her close family ties and understood that she couldnt afford to go against that. That didn't make her racist or even weak in my eyes, just practical given our circumstances.

Now would I have done the same if my nan had objections to my choice of girlfriend? No, but I'm well aware that cultures are very different and have to be treated differently, if that makes sense.

i don't think racism is just a white problem. asians and blacks can be as racist, and from my own experience there are probably proportionally more racist asians than whites. although it is a kind of defensive racism. some of the people i know have barely ever spoken to a white person but just automatically assume they are looked down upon and so put on a bit of an attitude. kind of like pre-emptive racism (?)

i just think a member of a race not considering dating a member of another race is nothing to do with racism.

I think that dating/relationships should be put on a kind of equality ratio. Where you are only allowed to date females of a certain race in equal proportions.

So.. once you ahve a white bird, you then by law HAVE to chase a black bird, then an asian and so forth.

Therefore eliminating dating racists.
