View Full Version : The reason why a lot of kids are ****ed up today.....
Fallout 03-15-2003, 04:12 AM thier parents.
I was talking to a friend of mine at a little party a buddy of mine was throwing. He lives a few floors above me and phoned me around 12 am to let me know he had some people over and asked if I wanted to come.
So I go up staris to the party and I start talking to a female friend of mine. She was worried that she was pregant a few weeks ago but it turned out she was just late and everything worked out ok.
"I bet your glad your parents didn't find out" I said "That would of be akward. "Akward?" she replyed "My parents would of thrown me out (she is 2 years younger than myself, so that would make her 18). I thought she was just saying that and I asked her why she thought they would. She then informed me that for a month in grade 10 (during the summer) they had thrown her out of the house for getting a C in advanced english.
I was floored. What kind of parents would throw a child out of the house for getting a C? A 15 year old girl, being tossed out of her home is sickening to me regardless of what she did, let alone something THAT stupid. How can parents (who claim to love thier childern) do something so cold and ruthless?
If these parents think thier childern are worthless little nobodies, they can look in the mirror for the cause.
ruffneck119 03-15-2003, 04:42 AM WTF is wrong with people. I would have called the cops if I was kicked out for that.
ig0r1eye 03-15-2003, 05:36 AM i agree with parents, but there is alot of good parents out there.
The real problem is that no one wants to take responsiblity for their kid and watch them. Kids now days spend (5 and under) spend more time in daycare and **** like that than they do with their parents and when they are home they are probably eating potato chips and watching TV instead of spending quality time with each other. I read a journal article that atributed the majority of high IQ's to kids that their parents read to them (books above the child's reading level) until they got pubes. they also added that family dinner also added to high IQ's.
ig0r1eye 03-15-2003, 05:38 AM obviously my parents didn't read to me, thems some good english skills
lil'surfer girl 03-15-2003, 09:26 AM God forbid those parents take a interest in their 15 year olds future by using strict punishment.
My guess is that the "C" grade was not the reason she was kicked out, but actually the events that lead up to her receiving a "C" grade (drinking, partying, ditching school and any other way that a 15 yr old can get into trouble). And, I seriously doubt she was left on the streets to pick through trash cans for food....more than likely she stayed with a friend until her parents cooled off.
Hell, she's obviously not the smartest girl around and almost got herself pregnant at 18. She sounds like a lovely girl.
The Jake 03-15-2003, 09:43 AM LSG, you work with kids (on that soccer team) -- you must have some interesting insight into the mindset of parents (be it good or bad).
I think parents need to have lines of communication open and grant the child the freedom to make their own mistakes. My parents let my sister and I make some mistakes that were, in hindsight, probably horrible to watch and they copped flack of a lot of parents as well. But they trusted we would learn from those mistakes and that they would make us better off for it.
Not enough parents trust that, they try to coddle their kids and tell them what they can and can't do. Rather than trust the kids to learn the lessons themselves, they try to tell them just don't do it, you're better off, etc. Whereas my parents would always try to present all sides of a situation and the consequences and leave it up to us. We had somes we had to work with but in retrospect, not many.

astroboy 03-15-2003, 09:47 AM I love my parents, i cant fault them for anything.
all i can do is thank them for everything they have tryed
to give and have given.
Rock Dog 03-15-2003, 12:06 PM I'm more w/ LSG. Too many parents don't control their kids and the kids end up ****ing around in stuff they shouldn't be in. All kids liek aving a good time, but some parents are traile park trash. I now kids whose parents help them sell bricks. Sometimes at hockey games, i see people from my old neighborhood in the city, getting in fights w/ teenagers and refs. Iif it were there 16 year old kids fighting it'd be more tolerable, but when you're a grown adult throwing an unssupecting kids up against a wall and you and your buddy flailing away at him that's too much. The old Tacony terrors come into these games, no clas all drunk and looking to fight absolute animals. Half of the parents were parents at 15-16 and so their kids are the same. It's rdiiculous, but admitedly funny. If you really want to see the state of our nation go to a highschool, or even worse, grade school hockey game. The people are animals. Some kids I used to hang out w/ were told by there parents to not worry too much about high chool and college but enjoy hemselves in highschool. My parents would kill me if I got caught w/ ****o on t.v. these parents think nothing of it. It sucks when parents are strict, but when u let your kids bust up houses, burn cars, sell joints, saturated in embalming fluid to unsuspecting clients and let your kids stay out till all hours of the night; then you have a problem.
Big-g 03-15-2003, 12:15 PM Have you ever seen my big fat Greek weding? Thats my parnets...minus the windex and plus the fighting.
Curly Howard 03-15-2003, 01:13 PM hi
The Golden Bear 03-15-2003, 03:31 PM Hi
HockeyFighter 03-15-2003, 03:56 PM Being a parent has go to be ****ing hard, especially once your kids hit that age of rebellion. Yeah you got to let them make their own mistakes but you don't want them to get into a bad situation they cannot get out of. Where are the boundaries? Do you forbit that your child from ever doing drugs or do you home that if/when he/she does try it they make the right decision? What if they get hooked? Then people think you are a bad parent for having a child like that but if you are too strict your chold is more likely to be rebellious. That's what scares me about being a parent. Honestly I don't know why I turned out the way I did. I've never tried any drugs or drank alcohol. I don't know why, I just never have. What did my parents do right? I have no idea. Some people close to me have experimented with smoking, drugs and drinking and have choosen it is not for them. Why? What was it in their life that influenced them not only into the experimenting but also into the stepping away?
Some people are pushed into it because they get offered and are the type of person that has trouble saying no. Others do it because they want to do something that might get them into trouble. Other because theu think it will be cool. How does a parent deal with all this? I know that how I live my life has affected atleast one other person and I am glad I had that influence. I didn't do it on purpose. Hell, I didn't even know this person had tried drugs until they told me they gave it up because of me. So what is a parent to do? I don't think people can do anything really. All you can do is live your life how you belive is right and parent that way also. Then all you can do is hope everything turns out. And that my friends is what scares the **** out of me about being a parent. The lack of control on how things turn out with my kids. There are so many influences in the world that you could be the best parent in the world and have the world's worse child.

So you toss them out of the house? You tell them you don't love them anymore?
There is tough love, and then there is being a bad parent. Throwing your kids out of the house for anything less than trying to kill someone inside the household is UNACCEPTABLE in my view.
LukeDothSucketh 03-15-2003, 08:20 PM There's plenty of awesome guys I know, whether they be momma's boys that don't drink or smoke weed, or the ones that are total potheads and alcoholics. Then I know a lot of *******s, and its the same, some abuse alcohol/drugs some don't. The real problem is followers. I ****ing hate them, they'll do anything for attention, to try to be cool, or whatever. They should all be shot and their parents should have their genitalia confiscated. I've been offered cigarettes back in the day, weed and booze in my early teens, and so on. I think drinking is good so I do it. Cigarettes? Why don;t I just eat the **** out of my toilet for free. Weed? Depends if I feel like it... too expensive. Followers, they'd say yes in a heartbeat just as an excuse to hang out with people. It's ridiculous. I've got a radar for these people, and it doubles over for *******s too. They're the problem.
Bluecifer 03-15-2003, 09:38 PM My parents rocked, and they sure as hell had their hands full with me. I alwayys got good grades and shocked the **** out them when I got into a good college, but to say that I was anything less than a little bastard would be a boldfaced lie. I'm gonna have to quit somkin' weed because I've been having a lot of real bad asthma attacks and the doc says that the pot smoke and asthmas are causing scar tissue in my lungs that could actually lead to my demise. I'm bummed about that. It's been a ****ed up week.
miller8966 03-15-2003, 11:26 PM Wow.. your telling me that the reason kids are ****ed up is because of their parents... HOLY ****. You idiots are a bunch of Freuds Huh.
