View Full Version : Please sign a petition for working out in public parks.
Chungfendo 08-05-2007, 09:48 AM Hi Guys,
It seems that many parks in the united states don't allow adults to workout using the park equipment. There is a move now to start training bodyweight, using the simple equipment such as pull ups and monkey bars available in city parks. Most parks say that an adult must have a child with him to enter a park. In many cases park workers and cops harrass individuals who calmly enjoy their fitness in the park environment.
There is a petition make to the US government, please sigh it and support the cause for gym free training anywhere.

Thank you for your support.

Thank you for your support.not all parks do that. Well at least not the parks here. Just go to another park.
mickeyb 08-05-2007, 02:06 PM The coppers do rite. The equipments for the kids, not for you to work out with.
Chief Vash 08-05-2007, 03:44 PM You're saying you want to train in a playground? That kind of park? With jungle gyms and all that? Ha! Leave that to the kids and find yourself an actual gym.
It's terrible to want to take away the small amount of places that kids have that is "theirs" to begin with.
And if you're talkin' about regular, state/forested parks. Well, then I've never heard it illegal to use anything from that. It should be ok.
Hell, my brother and I went swimming at this very popular lake in Seattle a week back, with plenty of people. I brought two pairs of gloves, and then we just sparred for fun, right there in the middle of everyone. No one told us "no" or anything. No one gave us any trouble. Although we did have a bunch of lookie-loos.
No way you pedophile.
exactly,he guy should go find a gym, its kinda creepy he wants to work out, get a pump and be all sweaty around little children

Zaire 08-06-2007, 11:27 AM Ross Enamait sometimes takes his clients and works out at the park. There is nothing wrong with it. Most of the time there is no one there anyway. you can do all kinds of exercises on the playground equipment. Not everyone likes to work out in a gym, myself included. So lets be mature about this.

I like working out in the gym...
Even if there isn't anyone there, they should keep themselves away. Imagine if a lone young mother ventures to the park to keep her little gits entertained for a hour or two, but see's all these half naked men sweating all over the equipment.
You don't want women being intimidated and making the parks a no go area for the babies.
Unless... you wanna trade? Allow the kids and mums to **** around in the gym when your there?
Gym = adults working out
Park = for the kids to play out.
And keep it that way.

I totally agree. I do workouts at parks. Go Ross! Just be mindfull of the kids is all.
rellik13 08-06-2007, 01:22 PM It all depends on the environment of the Park I guess. Some parks are all just kiddie's. Some parks have alot of adults playing hoops or Football or Soccer.

excatly its not very reassuring taking your kids to the park and theirs sweaty men all over the equipment.
Explain why you wouldnt want to work out in a gym
Zaire 08-06-2007, 03:33 PM I hate the gym, unless it is a boxing gym. The gyms have too many grannys and muscleheads for me. They cost too much, they stink, old naked guys stand there and talk to you in the locker room, and I don't like to wait on machines. It does depend on the park though, and no one is gonna be working out half naked, you don't at the gym so you wouldn't at the park. I do all my Integrated Circuit Training and Enhanced Interval Training at the park, mind you, it's at 6:30 am with no kiddies around. Sometimes I do it while I have MY kids at the park and my son and some other young kids do it with me.
mickeyb 08-06-2007, 05:56 PM Public parks.. you know...with greenary etc. Thats fine. By all means, go for a run, if its sunny even jump in the lake. But not on the kiddies play equipment!?
The last thing the city wants is for parents of young children to be like :
"I'd have taken the kids to the park, but its always full of fellas working out.."
and even if the blokes are not always there.. if it gets that reputation still, then the amount of kids getting the chance to visit will diminish... and thats not cool.
Im with Mickeyb on this one
Chungfendo 08-07-2007, 02:13 PM It's ok. Just spend a $100 of our tax money and build a pull up bar in non-kid section. We don't want the kids to be hurt. We just want a small piece of the taxes. If they drop thousands of bombs and each costs millions. Is it too bad to ask for a few dollars to be spent on fitness?
why cant you just drop $10 and make your own pull up bar..

he got u on that one tight arse!
Chungfendo 08-07-2007, 06:48 PM Some people like to train outside.
There are plenty of equipment in the park, as well as space. More than at home.

Then build a chin up bar outside. The kids play ground is meant for kids to fool around on, fall off and get concussions not for grown men who have a phobia of the gym or are to cheap to bust out a few bucks to make a chin up bar
rellik13 08-08-2007, 12:59 PM Obviously people who are against working out at parks dont know the advantages of it. Lets see... how do you do sprints, hill sprints, sled pulling and car pushing at the gym? Training outdoors rocks! Luckily the playground I work out on is surrounded by adults playing hoops and soccer. No kiddies usually.

those things can be done on the road and in a parking lot not on a ****ing childrens playground
rellik13 08-08-2007, 01:23 PM Yes. But where you gonna do your pull-ups and grip strength exercises after when Circuit training.

Getting in your car and driving back to the gym or home in between other odd workouts isnt very convenient.
mickeyb 08-08-2007, 03:01 PM Getting in your car and driving back to the gym or home in between other odd workouts isnt very convenient.
Neithers getting your baby in the pram/push chair and pushing the bairn all the way down to the park to find some muscle meat heads flexing there muscles and checking out there physique, sweating all over the monkey bars.
:cop: Stay outta the parks dammit!
rellik13 08-08-2007, 03:22 PM I piss farther than you do. Just do it with discretion. If your park is cool like that ... by all means do it. If you got little cry babies there... then don't.

whats inconvenient with going for a run, then running back home to do the rest of your workout
mickeyb 08-08-2007, 04:56 PM If you ever come to my country and attempt to set foot on my park, i swear great retribution upon you.
GREEEAT RETRIBUTION!
