Ok, what prospects would you like to see step up in competition? Im not talking about mundine so brently you can settle down on this thread :P.

i'd like to see the following take that next step

Rob Medley - proven himself domestically, but is yet to meet a fighter who is much more experienced, or at the same sort of prospect level as himself. I think he has ability and would love to see him step up. I was a bit disappointed in a way when he dropped all the way from middle to welter (because i wanted to see him fight geale), but in the long run, a welter with his height would be a monster to deal with.

Daniel Geale - In recent times it seems like "the next danny green" has taken a huge step backwards. i mean he keeps fighting, but he has been down so many times recently when previously he looked untouchable. He has always managed to get up and win, but lets see him in with a big puncher prospect.

Daniel Dawson - He recently had a bout scheduled against geale, but it never materialised. At 28-0 i think he has been padded enough and i'd love to see him step it up. His scheduled to fight anton solopov at the end of the month and it will definately be his biggest test to date.

Jamie Pittman - This fella has all the ability in the world and i just want to see more of him. Get him on FOX atleast cause this guy could go far. I have seen his sparring with bika and would love to see him fight someone similar in the next year or so.

Lawrence Tuasa - IMO the most talented fighter in the heavyweight division in australia, the only problem being is that his a blown up super middle who (if he lost weight and took his career seriously) could have been something much greater. I'd love to see him back at light-heavy at the least and mixing it up with the likes of murdoch/delise just to proove that he could blow them away even quicker then green

Your thoughts??

excellent post/thread.

bit short for time but i agree with most of your opinions in this one

id like to add lance gostelow into the mix..

he's about 11-1 only loss was a very late stoppage to a crafty old fox that he was beating.. stopped the usually tough geronco inside a round lately.. time for a tilt at an australia title i feel.

dawson is sort of stepping up i guess with this next fight..

other heavies that will be gettin their chance.. mark demori.. you might not be too convinced by what you've seen from him but he's 11-1-2.. but he has been training himself until recently when he's been signed by don king.. so he's going to be facing bigger names and fighting better..

also i read on the main page that undefeated tongan/australian bowie tupou has been signed by arum and he's gonna try to give the division a bit of a shake.

I would like to see choc step up and throw down the gauntlet in the US instead of staying in Aus and fighting nobodys telling everybody he is this and that , go and prove it like Rocky , Peddon , KT , Briggs , Vic , Fenech etc etc ,,, good fighter but even the aussies are sick of the bull**** .

KT said pretty much the same thing on the Radio a week or so ago.
This is very very true, he should stop talking **** and just start fight top 5 rated fighters in the states on Undercards. But, one thing you have to keep in mind, he's only fought once on an Undercard in his whole Pro Career in Canada, so for someone as egotistic as Mundine fighting on Undercards wouldn't be his thing. But he really needs to step it up or just shut up. His (big )last win over Sam doesn't mean **** in my book. Katsidis has a bigger name in US now after his last two fights.

Yeah mate its pretty obvious to the fighters and people close to the game in Aus , but Chocs milking the young fans that only came to boxing through Choc and his rugby and he has big media exposure here , most of the real boxing guys know he can fight but also know his flaws , he will be impressive while fighting low rent imports ands locals like middleweight Soliman but I doubt Mundine on the world stage if he really steps up , I reckon connections know as well , he is economically managed to a treat as they are making plenty fighting these easy fights which inturn ends up backdooring him into a WT fight somewhere , I mean here is a guy the man on the street thinks won 2 WTs , ta **** , he hasnt won one , a real one ,, thats good management ,,,, but heh ,, he is a very good fighter that had no amateur career and has achieved a lot in boxing , Im just sitting quite as boxing has a way of exposing bull****ers if thats what they are , and they keep fighting .

All the best to him , hope he goes well , Im just a keen spectator whos jury is still out on Mundine .
