Tha Playa 03-13-2003, 06:33 PM I'm on a network at work and my boss just installed a firewall for the network. He now can see every site I visit while at work and how much time I spend on that particular site. I'm just curious if there are any ways to get around this or somehow block it. Anyone have any ideas?
VulgarTheClown 03-13-2003, 06:35 PM thats horrid!
thats invasion of privacy!
against the law!!
oh wait your not in the US are you?
GhosT^x0 03-13-2003, 06:37 PM No way around it.. the firewall filters everything outgoing and incoming through one IP address. That IP address is the gateway, so to speak, of what comes in and goes out of your network.
Fundamentally, welcome to what it feels like when Big Brother really is watching. They're watching me on my work machine too, don't feel bad.
Bluecifer 03-13-2003, 06:39 PM OMFG. That means everyone in the office knows what a perv I am...I suspected as much. Damn!
Tha Playa 03-13-2003, 06:40 PM Yeah it totally sucks. I get what you're saying, I kinda thought that was how the process took place and figured I was screwed, just didn't know if you guys had any ideas. It's also more than just big brother watching me, it's my Dad.
VulgarTheClown 03-13-2003, 06:43 PM your dad?
you work for your dad?
that sucks
Tha Playa 03-13-2003, 06:53 PM Yeap, it has some advantages and some disadvantages.
Fallout 03-13-2003, 08:53 PM Prime cut, there is a way to do it.
Sign up for an AOL account. See if there is anyway you can install the AOL software on the computer. Then vist the sites thru the AOL software. Th firewall will just show you visted AOL for 8 hours
Fallout 03-13-2003, 08:57 PM There is a way to do it without installing the software I belive, but I can't remember for sure.
I am sure there is a document out there on it somewhere
Curly Howard 03-13-2003, 08:59 PM you can go through a proxy
rtbrouwer 03-14-2003, 03:01 AM sign up for a hotmail.com e-mail account... mail yourself a link and open that link. Hotmail will open a new window with a hotmail banner on top and the page your tried to open underneath it. The banner is really small but the page is titled www.hotmail.com so the firewall will say you visited hotmail.com for 8 hours. You can just say you like to keep a constant eye on your mail.
p.s. I do the same thing :)

can you then go to other sites through that window, or do you have to mail the link to each site you want throuhg hotmail?
We have the this same firewall **** at work also,, it also means no **** at work.:cuss:
Tha Playa 03-14-2003, 11:07 AM ttt for amunra's question. Thanks guys, see I knew somebody knew a way around this.
rtbrouwer 03-14-2003, 11:21 AM indeed you either have to mail yourself each link or just mail yahoo.com to yourself and use the search engine box to open any site you want :)
Tha Playa 03-14-2003, 11:28 AM Thanks ron. I'm having a problem though. When I likn global using hotmail, I'm not registerd so I can't post. How do you get around that?
