View Full Version : Frustrated
danny stash 07-31-2007, 01:33 PM I started boxing seriously about 6 months ago at about 230 lbs big and muscular. I seriously cut down on my heavy weight training to get some more speed. I succeeded in getting much faster and I am sure i hit harder as well. I am now 220 pounds with alot less muscle and i would swear more fat around my midsection. Before boxing I hardly ever even worked up a sweat much less did cardio (once a week maybe) My wind is way up now, I work out like a dog and come out of the gym DRENCHED. What do i need to due to continue to drop weight put retain muscle. I have extensive knowledge of nutrition and working out but i am totally stumped and frustrated.
Help

Same thing you would do during cutting stages.
There is obviously some problem with nutrition if you are losing muscle AND gaining fat while doing so much cardio. You should try to review your diet to see what's wrong.

Nazgul666 07-31-2007, 02:09 PM I lost too much weight when I started training. I didn't want o start eating more again becasue that's a slippery slope so I made sure I got a nice protein shake in right after I trained. The weight evened off and the muscle is there.
eazy_mas 07-31-2007, 02:26 PM well Rome wasnt built in one day as well as you wont get your result like in one week.
The difference between a successful person is the he put 100% of his effort everyday but for me it just one day hit and rest of the monthis lazy
David06 07-31-2007, 02:32 PM Post up your diet, what your typical meal is like, so we can get a better idea of what you are eating.
danny stash 07-31-2007, 02:48 PM breakfast Either a protein shake and a peanut butter and jelly or eggs and chicken or oatmeal
Lunch: some kind of turkey, or roast beef, chicken, veal or ham sandwich
3 PM another sandwich
5 protein shake
8-9 Some hummus and triscuits ,turkey , couple pickles,
weekends.....Whatever IE thai noodles, pasta etc(no pizza or crazy stuff.) and i drink about 15 drinks on the weekend. (this is probably my problem but not sure)

Runnings your answer for everything Da1!!
- "can't figure something out?" .... seriously, if i ran everytime i couldnt figure something out, was confused or lost - i'd be running more laps than Forrest Gump. haha.
Right.. i'm going on a jog now. Your right though - the more i run, the more punches i can throw a round - it has improved my sparring game by i would say 25%.
I dunno, how to help you Danny. Maybe you could look at some kind of suppliments to your diet?

Watz cracking Danny Boy?
Are you sure you're getting enough protein in there? Remember your a big fella and you'd need a lot of protein to maintain your muscle. I've totally stopped lifting weights for 7 months and I haven't suffered from any significant muscle loss.
What weight are you aiming to get down to?
Tuggers1986 08-01-2007, 09:21 AM From running alot more and eating better ive gone from 242 down to 210 but at the minute no matter how much running/swimming/training i do i just cant seem to lose anymore.
I know EVERYBODY goes through this when dropping weight as ive read many times on here and ive been expecting it but i never expected it to last this long. Its coming up to 4 weeks now being stuck at the same weight and its starting to piss me off. I know the only thing i can do though is just keep training and it will sooner or later. I'm just tired of waiting :(

You have to increase intensity. Do sprints. Do Hill sprints. Increase intensity every minute on your run till you get to ten minutes then work it back down. You have to shock your system. Change it up. Watch what you eat. Losing weight is a matter of burning more calories than you intake.

well I am in kind of a quandry i want to lose fat not muscle. You really have not lost that much muscle huh. Strange i can safely say that i have lost 10lbs of muscle or so. I guess i need to up the protein intake is all. I was only getting 100 or so grams for a couple months of intense training. I am gonna up it back up to 200 ish and check my results. Also I am gonna away the 12 pack the next few weekends and we'll see. later stranger
