View Full Version : Is DLH a Tito wannabe?
borikua 10-19-2004, 03:45 PM let's see...they both champs in 3 dif weight div...Tito won the middleweight belt by KO Joppy...DLH "won" the belt by robbing Sturm...They have common opponents but all were Tito's left overs..Vargas, Yory Boy Campas, Camacho, Oba Carr, etc. They both fought Nard..Tito lost by TKO in the 12rd and DLH got KO in the 9rd..they fought each other in 1999 and Tito won by MD..they never made a rematch cuz DLH even that he lost, he wanted the bigger slice of the $$$..DLH said that he was going to retire after the Hopkins fight, and after being "ko" by Nard he said he wants the winner of Tito-Mayo..

I like Tito more as a fighter.......DLH is the bigger draw and DLH was the better man the night they fought he just made a dumb decision to run the last few rounds rather than continue to outbox him (which he was doing quite convincingly). I think your Puerto Rican roots have you blinded in regards to this topic. I'm all for having your favorite fighters etc, but to blantantly disregard DLH's accomplishments and refer to him a possible Tito wannabe is rather silly. Early in DLH's career I thought he was a coward and a farse, but he has since convinced me that he is a true professional and has fought all comers and done/tried to do things many people could never dream of. Bottom line is these two are one in the same....they will go down in history as two of the best of this generation. I think they should thank each other, because I think each pushed the other guy to heights they never would have reached had the other not been around.
jack_the_rippuh 10-19-2004, 04:24 PM Tito is one-dimensional and De La Hoya is one-handed..
urdaddyinAZ 10-19-2004, 04:27 PM Tito is one-dimensional and De La Hoya is one-handed..
Don't be a hater because they both draw more and have accomplished more in their careers than your boy Mayweather.
jack_the_rippuh 10-19-2004, 04:36 PM I'm not hating...and Mayweather isn't really my boy, I'm just enjoying the hype while it lasts...when he does fall, it's going to be a tough loss for him...besides...Mayweather is kind of one-handed too as far as power goes..
jack_the_rippuh 10-19-2004, 04:37 PM Ask me who my favorite fighter is...that's simple...me.

LOL, fair enough.....when can I see you fight? You have power both hands? Has the chin been tested?
jack_the_rippuh 10-19-2004, 04:41 PM The chin is alot harder than Tito's and the power in both hands is Tyson-like...
abdiel2k3 10-19-2004, 04:47 PM The chin is alot harder than Tito's and the power in both hands is Tyson-like...

are you kidding me with this?
dont forget DLH has won belts at 135,140,147 and 154 thats 4 divisions and DLH has fought the better competion of the two.You also have to count guys like Mosley and Quartey who were both top ten p4p guys when they fought DLH. Whitiker was also still a p4p guy and Tito waited until he was safely washed up before fighting him.
Weather you like it or not DLH will ALWAYS deserve the bigger paycheck between the two. This is boxing you dont get paid on skill or who won what you get paid on drawing power.Lets face it everyone in the boxing world outside of PR knows DLH really won that fight.

First..DLH lost to Tito..deal with it. Second he didn't fought better competition than Tito..And third he fought Mosley and lost to him twice..hmm..maybe if Tito had fought mosley bfor DLH maybe then DLH would have beaten another Tito left-over like vargas, campas, camacho..etc.
jack_the_rippuh 10-19-2004, 06:03 PM One thing seperates these fighters in my opinion. Tito is a *****, and De La Hoya isn't..
Sir_Jose 10-19-2004, 06:06 PM first DLH did beat Tito...I think your the one who needs to come to terms with that one.
Secondly it doesn't matter what the outcome of the Mosely fights were its that HE FOUGHT him and thats what were talking about.
third YES DLH has fought better competion than Tito.

Yarmez 10-19-2004, 06:26 PM Delahoya is a warrior a risk taker, and has fought every hard opponent there is, he even jumped up to middleweight to fight hopkins.
Tito is a punk *****, he wins all these fights and then loses his first fight, and what does he do, he runs and hides for a few years, because he couldn't stand losing, he had a cry.
If he was really the man, he should have trained harder then ever and came back stronger then ever, not run and cry about losing his first match.
oldgringo 10-19-2004, 06:52 PM This is pretty rediculous. DLH has fought ****in everyone and has gone to war with them. His quality of opposition is about as hard as anyones in the history of the sport. He beat Tito (not technically but come the **** on....) quite easily and shot himself in the foot at the end.
DLH is the bigger draw, the more skilled overall fighter, and has certainly not fueled his career off of Tito's scraps. The Quartey that DLH fought would have beat up Tito and took his milk money.
I think DLH is out of his element now...160 is too much for him. He should fight maybe 2-3 more times at 154 and call it a day.

DLH a risk taker??? ,he jump to middleweight to rob sturm and get KTFO by nard...Tito went to retirement cuz Nard didn't gave him the rematch..FYI he came from retirement looking better than bfor.

yes going up to middleweight to fight Hopkins when you started your career at 130lbs is a risk
just let it go considering you have'nt had 1 person agree with you on this thread
Yarmez 10-19-2004, 07:09 PM but why run, staight after losing?
And Nard Not Giving Him a rematch has nothing to do with it, what is bernard the only fighter in the whole middleweight division?
You see a real champ, like, Lennox, Hopkins, Evander, Tyson, Delahoya, Gatti, Barrerra. keep fighting.
They are warriors, even when they lose.
They don't run off and say he wont fight me again boo hoo!.
I don't buy that, if he was for real back thenhe would have worked to become Nards Mandatory, but no he ran and hid, and thencomes back and suprise fights a guy who isn't a natural middleweight, who is just a blown up welterweight, who is unmotivated, lost to spinks, and is not skillful, and is a one punch fighter.
WOW, That's awsome.

you didn't state an opinion you asked a question.
"Is DLH a Tito wannabe?"
oldgringo 10-19-2004, 07:42 PM you didn't state an opinion you asked a question.
"Is DLH a Tito wannabe?"
And the answer is no. You should have just stated, "I think DLH is a Tito wannabe" as the thread title.

La verdad, no he visto uno solo que le de crédito a Trinidad.
wmute 10-19-2004, 08:56 PM why don't you guys just f-+k off in any language you want?
ppl happen to understand spanish ;)
mic573 10-19-2004, 09:08 PM I don't think Delahoya is a Tito wannabe. I do believe however Trinidad/Delahoya was a close fight but I also believe Oscar should of won that close fight. As far as Tito's retirement neither Oscar or Hopkins wanted a rematch for whatever reason. Tito asked for a rematch with Hopkins after his fight with Cheriffi but Hopkins after saying he would give Tito a rematch at anytime after the first fight went back on his word. Then Tito said he wanted the winner of the Delahoya/Vargas but neither would say the wanted the rematch with Tito for whatever reason. Tito wanted a big fight after his easy tune-up against Cheriffi and the big fights at that time were against Delahoya and Hopkins but neither wanted to give him that rematch so he retired. Not that they were scared but for whatever reason they didn't want a rematch. Tito didn't run away and cry after he lost all he did was try to make the big fights and it they didn't happen so he decided to retire.
