I saw discussion of this in the Sprott vs Skelton thread and wanted to ask your thoughts.

As a sparring partner of Audley's, Sprott was well aware of his limitations (in particular, his extremely poor stamina) and looked set to capitalise on it IMO.

As early as the first round Audley's frustration could be seen as he couldn't get anything through Sprott's guard and knew that he stood the risk of punching himself out by hitting his arms. Even though he managed to land a clipping punch on the top of Sprott's head that put him down, the end of the first round saw him backing up with a concerned look on his face as Sprott let him know he wouldn't capitulate.

I remember in the third Sprott dropped his guard and pulled lots of funny faces to taunt Audley. Basically, what I'm saying is, despite Audley's technical skill, I believe that Sprott knew exactly what he was doing in the ring that night. Just a shame his boxing brain wasn't switched on at all for Skelton.

I actually disagree with you. Audley was hitting to the body in the first round and slowly Sprotts guard was coming down(which resulted in the knock down)

Audley was out of his game plan more than anything as he was looking for the knockout and we all know if you go looking you dont get.

Audley was the stupid cunt that ran in trying to hit with his left straight(missing the shot) then leaving himself open to the left hand.(Which Sprott threw when looking down to the floor)

Sprott knew Audley was packing the glass and had a game plan but I dont think it was a tactical punch at all.

Harrison-Skelton would have been much better to watch and Audley was a more respectable title challenger than Sprott ever would have been.

Which Sprott threw when looking down to the floor)

The fact he was looking down at the floor when he threw the shot said to me that he didn't intend to K.O Harrison. I suspect Sprott didn't even think it would land.

The shot was VERY lucky and instead of an attack, the punch was an attempt at some kind of defence. He threw the hook in an attempt to back Harrison up and get Audley away from himself. Lucky it landed - and unlucky for Audley. He got KTFO big time.

I would like to think it was a game plan but I have to think it was a lucky punch. One of the funniest boxing moments of all time mind.

I'm not saying that THE punch was part of his plan, just the overall game.

I'm sure when the punch landed he thought "wow, that wasn't even my KO punch... this guy's packing glass."

that shot would have KO'D Godzilla. The fact that he didn't see the punch made a HUGE difference. :pat:

Deffnitely a Very Lucky Punch, and it would KO most Heavies.

But it was so funny, Audley has loads of talent and could be a force, but he talks so much **** its unbelievable, what was the point of tryin to manage himself with his big BBC contract and ended up fighting a series of club doorman in his bum of hte month roadhow.

i think it was a very lucky punch and the only way Sprott could have won. He wasnt going to outjab AH.

That said, i`m just glad it happened, i couldn`t stomach another interview with him talking about being undisputed champion by 2008.

it'll be 2009 for AH to be world champ

The two option are not mutually exclusive. I don't know what his plan was, but it was a lucky punch. It was a wild, looping punch that shouldn't have landed let alone knock Audley out.

At what? Does he have another hobby or something?

I heard a rumour he was practicing his darts to challenge Phil "The Power" Taylor in 09.

Seriously Annie, this is some ****ed up ****.

That fight against Ordinary was a glorfied sparring match for 2 1/2 rounds. True Sprott had a better 3rd but that was more about ordinary forgetting to jab than anything.

Sprott caught a swinger and thanks to harrison's poor defence/concentration/cuntishness he dropped like Kessler's going to in the 4th against Calzaghe.

And I like Sprott. You have to like an old pro travelling round Europe making his corn before swinging big. But still, his performance against Skelton was unforgivable.
