Is there a story behind this?

No.But there are so many steps and things you can do to better yourself. And those little steps can take months to years to develop. Going a few rounds could kill you if you're not in proper shape. Trying to keep composure when in a live fight. Not tiring yourself out. Trying to figure out someone thats confusing. Constantly running even if you had a bad day or sore as hell.Keeping your hands up. Swelling, how if you get hit with a good shot it looks alot worse live up close then on tv.Your legs start doing things that your mind doesnt let it and you have no control.etc.

I talked to this Cruiserweight for over an hour at our gym yesterday. And he was telling me all the mistakes he made. And for me to watch out for me not to make them also. How his coach threw him to the dogs to fight pro. And a few loses can **** you over big time in Boxing. And there are alot of hungry ppl out there in the boxing world.

All that **** hit me and I was like, damn.:?!: He also showed me somethings I can improve on that he said could have been an easy target for someone that actually really knows what the **** there doing and really smart in the ring.

Its a huge wake up call for all these ppl thinking they're the **** at boxing. I myself know I have a long way to go. But there are some ****y ****ers out there. And yeah that **** aint no game.

For a while when I boxed I used to be flat flooted and wouldn't even use my reach nor my height to my advantage until the coach's son told me to start getting up on the balls of my feet.

Check my footwork is all I had to say afterwards

Thats why its best to start early. I wish I would have taken boxing up when I was younger. Back when I was still willing to work hard and focus. Now that Im in College, I find it extremely hard to diet and train everyday, and thats without a job. I'm not sure how I could have juggled school, work, and boxing.

I have a lot of respect for any person who sticks with it. Thats why I hate when people call boxers bums. If they had any idea what it takes just to win one pro fight.

the worse thing about boxing is the early stages of training, when your hitting the bag and you start to feel good like your punches could knocked anybody out then you try it in the ring and get clocked with a good shot and get discouraged.

its hard to keep your composure, really hard.

I remember getting tagged for the first time and it totally threw me off! You quickly realise that ain't no everlast bag with a headguard on! It's someone trying to hit you back! Ever since I started sparring my approach to bag work has completely changed! I keep my guard tight all the time imagining an opponent and not just a bag swinging in front of me! Just one of the many lessons I've learnt in the sweet science!

You feel bad and feel like giving up Sad that you didnt do better. *(Results in lost of passion for the sport...going through the motions in training)*

One think Ive heard while talking to the Cruiserweight is. Its best to try to break habits you know deep inside arnt that good.Although they're easy to do. He said say if you are fighting really well. Then when you get tired you will go back to what you were doing. Which most of the time isnt all that good.

The biggest thing to do when you are a boxer is start young. So you learn every single counter in boxing...so you have an answer to everything a boxer can throw at you. That is the biggest step...you have to keep gaining and gaining experience because it develops your character and skillset.

Thats a good thing to doBut alot of people don't start young like 6 -7 and 8 like most huge names..So they need sumthin else other than time...So its those guys who started young, then there are:

1. The God given Talent ones.. or Prodigies. RARE.

2. And the ones who train so much they become good in shorter lengths of time than the normal.

3. The ones that believe in anything...nothing is impossible.

Funny Thing is that 2-3 are just as rare as the First.

Have you been involved in sports? The most skillfull athletes are the ones who can blend in athleticism with LEARNED technique. If you expect to be an elite level athlete you need a great team behind you - starting from when you are 9 or 10. Boxing isn't black and white. It isn't just the one who hits harder, it isn't the one who has more speed, the best fighters are the ones who see openings and can EXECUTE. You only get this by starting young and training at a young age so you have experience over everyone.

You're right, boxing isn't black and white. Everything else you're wrong about, because you make it out to be exactly that; black and white.

Being able to see openings and EXECUTE (:ugh: ?) is not something that is dependent on when you start. Some people have it from say one, and some don't. Some people can start at age 20 and just have the eye for it. Some people can train their whole lives, and just not be able to do it.

I agree that starting at an early age will be an advantage in 9 cases out of 10, but it isn't that black and white. It really has to do with talent, and you can't always predict who will have and when. That's part of the beauty of it.

Thats great... and yes 9 or 10 years old is an Excellent age to start but they could lose to someone that just picked up the sport 9 years after them.

But theres a greater chance of them still winning because of experience. Thats why I stated that the cases I wrote about were all RARE. But even those positions can be worked towards.
