In all honesty..no If your going to lift weights for boxing lift for explosive strength and that is done by rep ranges like 5x5. Also if your going to lift weights...just dont do bench press. Do all compound movements like Bench,Squat,Rows and Military Press

If you can lift 40kg for 20 reps you dont do it 5x5. The purpose of 5x5 is to lift a heavy weight for few reps to produce explosive strength and not size

If you're gonna bench, you should be focusing on doing your body weight or getting up to be able to do your body weight 20 plus times.

Doing a 5x5 with a heavy weight will greatly increase your strength, but will also greatly reduce your speed, not to mention the tension your muscles you will gain which can lead to poor stamina

your stamina is built up through the many push ups you should be doing religiously

I've been lifting for a few years and if anything i've gotten quicker from it. If you lift properly lifting weights can be beneficial
