I heard about this a couple of years ago and just recently read an article in the Wall Street Journal that this 'congestion fee' has really worked and cut down on traffic and pollution in London. Mayor Bloomberg of NYC has proposed a similiar fee for all vehicles coming into the city of NY...

What do you 'Limeys' think about this fee? Has it inconvienced citizens or is it sound public policy?

Opinions/comments please...

Limeys love paying the congestion charge. I remember just laughing to myself as i was driving my highly road taxed 4x4 vehicle and burning off another 98 pence litre through the big city.

Atleast in America you aren't ****ed over every time you go to buy petrol. Were taxed up to the eyeballs.

Lets face it - the congestion charge just means that the wealthy can continue to drive through the city, whilst the working classes are excluded. So... in effect, i reckon the MP's and there friends and business bum chums are fine to drive down empty streets... whilst conviniently pushing the peasents on to ****ty public transport.

And I heard if you don't pay it in a day or two the fines are just ridiculous.

like most fines. I got a parking ticket..hmm.. i was complaining on her the other day about it.

If i don't pay it in 14 days it doubles.

Thats a £30 fine to a £60 punishment....

just double it to put it into dollers.
