ok everyone my fight is in 11 days and i currently weigh 157 and need to get down to 152. the weigh in is at 6:00pm on the 27th and you get a minimum of 1 hour and a half wait time till you fight after you weigh in. I was wondering since I already know you cant loose solid 5 pounds in 11 days what other methods could I use to get down to 152 for the weigh in? ive heard alot of hype about wearing a sauna suit the night before or on the day of the fight to loose water weigh. just need your guys advice or input about this situation:ugh:

go on a stricked tuna and protein shake diet for a few days. you eliminate all the carbs and fat and are guarantied to lose the weight. and if you're still 1 pound over which you shouldn't be, dehydration will do the rest.

every g of carbs you consume causes you to hold 3g of water, but you do need them to survive, so id eat jack early in the week & slowly reintroduce them so you are still fuelled for the fight.

i do not recommend saunas n the day or hard dehydration, as your brain is majority water & dehydration causes swelling, it can affect you "chin". take a herbal laxative & a herbal diuretic & on thurs & fri & hit the sauna on these mornings, you'll lose about a kg of waste & some extra cellular water. Do not stop drinking water during this time, the more you drink, the more you'll lose.

By the way, tuna is pretty much protein & fat. To my knowledge, fat does not cause you hold water, sodium (salt) & carbs do, so avoid them. You can also try something like the velocity diet for a few days, which takes the thinking out of only consuming protein & fat meals.

Another trick is drink 12l of water on tues, 8l on wed, 4l on Thur & none on Fri - this will trick your body into excreting more water than it is given.

canned tuna has like 0.5 fat per 100, so no your wrong.

the water tip could help though

5 pounds in eleven days is easy enough to do.
jogging alone will be ample.
strickly tuna and salmon down the stretch though.

If you don't eat carbs, you'll deplete your glycogen stores. Sure, it'll make you lose weight in the long run, but since he's only got 11 days, that's NOT the way to do it. He'll need his glycogen for the fight.
You need to lower your overall calorie intake a little, and step up your amount of exercise. If you're 3 pounds over when you go to bed the night before, then you'll be able to sweat the last three (which should be 1.5 in the morning) off in a short while, using a sweatsuit and a jumprope, just prior to the weigh in.
After the weigh in, make sure the first thing you do (BEFORE eating) is drink about a liter of fluid, mostly water, but a gatorade (or something similar) is recommended as well, to restore your body fluids. This will also ensure that you don't overeat, since the fluid will take the edge off your hunger.

5 lbs. in 11 days? Easy. I have guys doing that in 24 hours, with no negative effects on their stamina/performance . That's not saying you should wait that long, the longer period you do it over, the safer it will be for you, performance wise.

Edit: A requirement for doing this, is that you're very well prepared physically, as losing weight can have a negative effect on your stamina and strength, if you're not physically fit enough.

i got a question on makin weight. the most i ever had to dry out the day of was 2-3 pounds max. but i see guys like hatton and baldomir and winky and cotto walkin around at 180 or wutever and they make weight like 40 pounds lower. how is it possible to cut so much weight so fast while training so intensely without constantly bein fatigued and slow all day long. i never understood that. wouldnt they be unbelievable tired and sluggish and slow every day from so little food and so much intensity, cutting so much weight cuz they aint eatin nuthin so how can they keep goin wit no calories in their bodies? sounds like a stupid question but i dont get like how cotto goes in at 180 to training camp, trains, and used to make weight at 140, and he was a POWERHOUSE thru 12 rounds. if i dont eat alot for like 4 days i am dead tired all day and at the gym, i mean i still go mad hard but i aint fightin no championship fight...

p.s. didnt mean to hijack thread, but im curious...

Five pounds in 11 days can be done. Less intake of calories and increase the time/distance of your runs.

Don't bother with trying to sweat it off with a sweat suit. Water weight is put right back on as soon as you have any liquid. So it is pointless doing it 11 days prior to a weigh-in. However, on the day of a weigh-in it could be helpful if you’re a little over and need to drop some quick weight.

Good luck!

you can lose 5 lbs in 11 days....

eat your last meal (dinner) at 4:00 ..drink water from then on..... you'll be fine.

if you run and train with it you could prally make 150-148

but if you eat before 4pm and sleep you'll lose 2 pounds a night .. easily.. wake up and go for a short run and do the same thing.

Believe me.. it works very well.

you can lose 10 pounds in 5 days if you don't eat past 4... and also cut out the fast food.

Just eat oatmeal for breakfast.. go for a run.. have lunch... have dinner at 4pm and then your done for the day...wake up and do the same thing.. it worked wonders for my fight to make 164 from 185.

ok guys i found out this one thing on the net check it out

For the fifth, fourth and third days before the weigh in, I have my athletes consume 2 gallons of water a day. They carry the gallon jug around with them so they know how much fluid they are taking in. At this time, the athlete also can be more liberal with sodium in his diet (we don’t go heavy on the sodium, but a little increase can help later as you will see). This increased water intake triggers hormones in the body to excrete more urine than usual. This response will be essential in losing fluid the day before the weigh in. Two days before the weigh in, the fighter cuts the fluid intake to one gallon of water, and cuts out the sodium from the diet. Finally, the last day before the weigh in, the fighter takes in no fluids, no sodium, and only food that I will describe later. This process is effortless, and only requires a little discipline and tolerance of a dry mouth.

**** yeah, any animal protein is good protein & good fat. Salmon & tuna are better but sardines are still good.

If you want to loose water weight do this. While training chew some sugar free gum and every time you build up saliva spit it out. This will drop you down fast. Its a old trick that sugar ray used to do.

i don't agree with this, if you stop eating after 16.00 u will definitly lose weight but it will mostly be muscle that you have lost. eat 2000 callories a day spread over 5 meals . eat like 400 calories every 3-4 hours and you will lose fat.

Do not wear a sauna suit.

Dehydrating your body is the most effective means of losing weight but it can cause serious damage when you couple it with boxing because the impacts can cause greater damage to your brain. Try lose the weight, if you can't, don't fight.
