View Full Version : Alcohol = Guilt
Golden-Gloves 07-14-2007, 02:11 AM The ladies wanted to have a few drinks tonight, so I rolled to the Liquor Store and bought a 5th of Patron and Hpnotiq, they wanted me to join them an have a drink or two, I havent touched Alcohol in 5 months, so I feel I owed it to myself to have a good time, but..
I cant seem to enjoy myself, every ****in second is ridden with Guilt
anyone else feel this way when they touch Alcohol?
I think its because I'm obsessed with feeling powerful, when your blood is flowing through your veins, your veins are bulging out of your arms, your fists and arms are hot flowing with strength, there not a better feeling to me, Alcohol takes that away from me, and I no longer feel myself..

SpeedKillz 07-14-2007, 10:29 AM i havent touched alcohol or any drugs in 4 years, since i began my training to actually fight, instead of jus to stay in shape. fighters cant have that ****, no way. if it doesnt do something good for ur body performance-wise, dont take it...
my boys give me alot of **** for bein a "goodie-two-shoes" for bein sober all the time, but they dont say **** when the ladies find out i'm a fighter and they're all swingin from my nuts!! lol
Golden-Gloves 07-14-2007, 09:20 PM I could take ya mate. Your a drunk after all.
hahaha, because I have a drink or two every 5 months? Ricky Hatton is an alcoholic an he seems to do just fine..
but since your callin me out, where you live, whats your weight class, maybe we could set somethin up
Hitman18 07-14-2007, 09:54 PM I know what ya mean, probably more than anyone in this forum. I haven't touched alcohol in 16 months and everytime I was at a party or something and everyone around me was drinking, I was so tempted to drink, but everytime I barely started to take any sips from the bottle, I feel really guilty and thoughts of being a lazy ass and someone else who isn't drinking who will kick my ass and thoughts of not being a true boxer always come across my mind, and then I put the beer down. But the other day I went camping for a few days and I barely fought last week and won, so I figure I need to enjoy myself a bit and I had a few drinks and caught a really good buzz and I didn't feel guilty at all, i felt good. You just have to enjoy yourself and know that boxing isn't everything. Whats more important, boxing 24/7 or living life?
Jimmy The Gent 07-14-2007, 11:34 PM alcohol really isn't that bad whatsoever, a few drinks at the weekend isn't going to do you any harm what so ever, If anything its gonna make you want to train harder
VERSATILE2K12 07-14-2007, 11:37 PM I drink like once a week if that. And it doesnt control me,neither am I addicted to it.
I think i'm addicted to alchohol no shame there
But i'm tryin to cut back on the beer
Golden-Gloves 07-15-2007, 01:16 AM Boxing is my life, I couldnt have such passion or love for anything else, I feel like I let myself down, I lack discipline, I feel guilty because Alcohol is a toxin, a poison, and when I drink I'm poisoning my body, I feel like I'm taking a step backwards, and I feel like I'm not giving my 110% to be the best that I can possibly be..
My Father and Mother are both Alcoholics, the temptations and urges to drink are rediculous, but I often resists those temptations for the Sport I love..
Its hard, every Friday and Saturday night, all of your friends, all of the girls are drinking, having a good time, your sitting in the back all serious and sober, your the outcast, but you know what, its alright because I'm something they will never be..

One or two beer the odd weekend will not kill you. Just don't binge.

Do you mean you think you're better than people because you box?
HELLRAZAH 07-15-2007, 08:30 AM i look at it in a more confident way, like im good enough to drink and still beat sumones ass in the ring, but when im fighting i stop goin so hard
mickeyb 07-15-2007, 08:45 AM hahaha, because I have a drink or two every 5 months? Ricky Hatton is an alcoholic an he seems to do just fine..

Ricky Hattons not an alcoholic......a heavy drinker... yes... haha. You know in 2 or 3 years Hatton is gonna be retired, and i guarentee he is gonna get so fat it's gunna be ridiculous. He's just a fan of Guiness though, he treats it like his reward. When he's in training for a fight, he cuts it off dead and goes for it.
Some boxers do have vices...doesn't Mayorga smoke heavily? After reading Frank Bruno's autobiography he admitted to regularly smoking pot after a fight to calm his nerves and help him sleep.
I go for a drink, and have 4 or 5 beers every now and again,...sometimes its more... i don't think its slowed me down. I love going out, dancing, chasing birds and acting daft. I don't plan to be p4p champ, i just wanna fight a few times and enjoy life. So i guess i can do both.
if i was planning on going to the olympics...then i might quit. But i can reach my goals... and go out and paint the town red too.
- As for meeting up for a spar!? Don't you live in America? If i ever go on holiday near your place, we should meet up, train and go for a beer or something. That'd be cool.
Ukr_Alex 07-15-2007, 04:13 PM Man even though I dont fight anymore I still pump all the time, and play plenty of sports. But I still have my beers at least once a week.
Golden-Gloves 07-16-2007, 04:29 AM Do you mean you think you're better than people because you box?
I never said that I was better then anybody, I said I'm something that my friends will never be, they are all alcoholics and druggys, they never put themselfs to anything constructive.. But, yes, in a way I "feel" like a better person just for the way I feel I have carried out my life, compared to them..
In nature, the male fights for his dominance, his food, his females, and territory, we are still animals, just advanced, your telling me when you win a fight, you dont think your better then your opponent? Its instinct
sweeney19 07-16-2007, 01:26 PM Dayum this thread has got me thinking...Im on a break from College and go back in September...i rarely drink at all when im at college (I have a few at weekends) anywayz as i stated i'm on my "Break" period and i have been drinkin virtually non stop for the past 2 weeks haha...Seriously i get up at bout 12ish go for a run, go the gym, then as soon as im home il open a beer up and drink 4 the rest of the night....Like i said tho i rarely drink whilst at College so i guess this is my reward time or sumthin lol....Im kinda nervous tho i mean im kinda getting into a routine of drinking alot every night....Anybody else do this??
MOREBASS 07-18-2007, 02:18 PM I guess thats good that you feel guilty, alcohol is definitely not good for your body, but I wouldn't sacrifice having a good time for it. Not unless you're getting paid to do so.
There are tons of professional atheletes who enjoy a drink or ten...LOL...the key is moderation. If you're going to drink, just make sure you work extra hard the following day to make up for it. No big deal, especially if you're not a regular drinker.
danny stash 07-19-2007, 12:10 PM ........................... you should see me in the ring
this kids kind of a tool.
nedcmk1 07-19-2007, 12:11 PM maybe if you had a few drinks you wouldnt be so uptight?
a little beer or wine here and there is just fine for you.
glass of wine or two with dinner? absolutely not poison...
a beer or two? no problems man.
Now, mixing alcohol with syrup based mixers and soda and whatnot is terrible for you. no the alcohol, but the mixers.
Moderate consumption of beer and wine will not effect your performance.
Remember, Beer and wine are pretty much all natural anyways if you drink good stuff ;-)

keep up the good work bud and disregard my last comment. I was being antagonistic for no reason.

Are you saying that soda is worse for your body than alcoholic drinks? I'm not sure about this...
nedcmk1 07-19-2007, 05:28 PM yes i am.
sugar, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sweetners, flavors. Coke is a chemical mixture.
alcohol is generally all natural.
nedcmk1 07-19-2007, 05:38 PM look at the ingredients of each.......
12 0z OF COLA....
or 12 oz beer, 6 oz wine, or 2 oz booze...
compare ot serving to serving.
obviously if you abuse alcohol it is bad. but if you arent it is better tahn pepsi.
-GBGQ- 07-19-2007, 06:16 PM I understand completely what you are saying.
I went 2 months without drinking and I felt like superman.
Alchohol drys me out and slows me down.
Now that I'm working towards becoming a pharmacist, boxing has helped me keep my partying in check. It's a downfall but I do love going out and being social.

words out of my mouth....god its downfall. I deflate when i drink!!!
Golden-Gloves 07-19-2007, 10:43 PM when I win a fight, there is not a better high in the world, no drug, or type of alcohol can overtake that feeling
Its very easy to have a few drinks and have a good feeling anytime you want, but you cannot when fights, and obtain the best feeling in the world whenever you want

i know exactly what you mean! i have never felt a better feeling than having your hand raised in front of all your friends and family and have them cheering for you ....
............
not to mention the amount of ***** u get at the after party.:banana:
jzpowahz 07-20-2007, 12:54 AM I don't drink beer or wine. When I drink, I make sure that I drink with a diet type drink ie. bourbon and diet coke. This is a lot better for you calories wise. Been doing this for the last 6 months now. I never drink regular soft drinks and when I have had a sip of one recently they really do taste overly sugarry (spelling :P). But you definitely get used to it.
