View Full Version : IM 17, is it too late!!
hi im 17 yrs old and i got into the sport really late, but now im so passionate about it. I love putting the gloves on and sparring and having little 2 or 3 rounders with my mates. But i want to train properly i constantly look for tips and techniques on the net and also do alot of excercise to improve my stamina.
Do you think 17 is too late, i mean im gonna have to go through the basics if i go to a boxing gym the other guys my age will be 100times better than me!!
Heres the other thing i am really out of shape i need to lose weight around the waist, stomach and thighs. At the same time work on my biceps and abs, obviously i will need to lose weight before i can concern myself about abs.
Neway just wondering if you think it is too late to take up the sport, is there any beginner sessions for someone my age that are worth the while, and what can i do to improve my boxing skills and to sort out my body problem?!

Jim_Davis 07-11-2007, 10:37 PM Rocky Marciano, Nigel Benn, Chris Eubank, Bernard Hopkins
All guys that started around your age and older.
Some guys spend from when they were 7 learning the techniques. Others are just naturally gifted.

I agree to an extent. I dont believe when you're 17 you can think "i wanna be a boxer" and then aim to be world champion (even though thats what Eubank did at 16). Start boxing and take it seriously and then if you got what it takes it will come. If not then ahahahahahahahaha!
17 is a fine age to start, go for it

Yeah but I heard he never actually trained hard or took it seriously until concemplating his future over in jail lol.
