The title is a bit of an exaggeration just to lure you all in here.

Starting off the rant:

The Parry - LMAO this has to be the FAKEST and most EXAGGERATED defensive technique I've ever heard of/seen. The parry works in real life but not as good as in the game. In FNR3 your arm gets swung back for a 2-3 seconds allowing multiple hard combinations to lower your health more and more. It is frustrating. The timing couldn't be less accurate. Here's a case example:

-In career mode my dude was 26-0 20KOs and was fighting some dude named Medez in MSG. I use the Philly Shell defense and the other guy used the classic defense. I was outboxing him in every round besides I believe the 6th round because I got overzealous in the middle while trying to go for the KO/KD once I saw the health meter going low, but I recovered and outboxed him to get 2 out of 3 judges to give me the round. Anyways it was a scheduled 10 round fight and I believe it was in the 8th round where I rocked in a few times with counter hooks and uppercuts to the body. I had him in KO/KD mode or whatever you call it and then I swung a left hook and he PARRIED it. First off dip****, I don't know if any of you have been in a fight/boxing match and have been rocked and hit repeatedly, but you're not able to successfully parry a shot LET ALONE THROW A ****ING HAYMAKER FLASH KO/KD to put me in KD mode. That is BULL****.

Once I was backing up defending for my life... an uppercut to the body put me down and because my guy's ****ing ratings aren't 100%, I was out. BULL****. I was so pissed because this was the second ****ing time this happened(after the 1st time, I was so pissed I reset the PS2 and tried again today)...I was so heated I reset it again and fought him a 3rd time. I KOed him in the 2nd round with the bull**** flash KO feature cuz I didn't wanna waste anymore time on this guy. I wanted to move on...this leads me to my next complaint:


Career Mode - The career mode is not that good. Decent at best. How the hell do you gain accurate popularity? Most of the fights available in the beginning of your career(first 10 fights) are garbage fights at the Warehouse and Windy City Boxing Gym. WOW...those fights equal = fights in real life that know one watches or knows about.

LMAO how do u gain popularity with that ****? So ****ing fake. The training is trash. It makes you choose one or the other(power or speed). Ever heard of training both? Balanced training? C'mon now....

oh and the lack of boxers in exhib. mode sucks...4 featherweights? that forces us to use the same ones everytime...smh.

I like your punch idea, it's more realistic AND we need the CROSS TO HAVE MORE EFFECT...they treat it like a jab...cross to the chin = rock your opponent in real life...

You can score one punch KD's and they dont need to be off of haymakers.. What you do is early in your career make your fighter as strong as possible.. Say your power is at 70 (through training and Equipment bonus) and you are fighting guys with chins of 40 .. You should be able to score plenty of flash KO.s reagdless of what the other guys health is..

Round 2's career mode was better imo cuz at least u got rankings and ****.

Round 4 better have all the belts and ****...needs to be more realistic.

There should be perhaps an option where you can click and make the menu's open with rock music if you prefer.

The straight right is treated like a jab, basicaly all fights end in knock out. styles like lethal uppercuts and hook master are ridiculously easy to counter cause their so slow. Gloves at the weigh in? wtf your rival needs to be a bit better you dont defeat your rival in the pro's 8 times by knockout the guy would be paralyzed by then.

They should have a setting like when your rocked by a huge punch, kind of like a KO moment but like your agility goes down for a few seconds and your punches arent being thrown properly so your forced to cover up or clinch for a few seconds to try and get your barrings back while the other person has a chance to do damage to you.

Also you shouldnt have to knock down someone 5 times in order to knock them out. If this was the case in real life everyone would be retired by age 25

The japanese fighters aren't that bad. They have champions in that game. Hozumi Hasegawa is in it. Same with Eagle Kyowa.

That and the american boxers are in that game under different names. For example Ali would be called Ari thompsan.

That and there's always the photo option. I've made DLH and Hopkins using it in carrer mode.

I think I would rather have a challenging and engaging boxing game than just a game with bad career, avg game play with Ali in it.

i havent played boxers road 2 but i played the first one and it was wayyyyyy better then any fight night..very realistic..where can i buy boxers road 2?? EA should definatley take notes..

Tekken 5 is a good game to play

Some real ignorant fools in here, saying **** like japanese boxers are fake. Of course Fight Night sucks. Was saying that years ago when I was preaching to anybody that would listen about a game called Victorious Boxers 2 (The real VB2, not just VB2: fighting spirit, which is also better than Fight Night).

Haven't played Boxer's Road 2 yet, don't have a PSP yet. Will get both by this Fall/Winter. But I can say from everything I've read that this game is the best boxing game out there today. The people I've talked to are the same ones that got me into VB2 in the first place, so I can say that confidently. Hi Warp & Xcel. Thanks for spreading some knowledge.

I think Fight Night online is by far the best boxing game out there! That and Fifa are the only video games I play. Yes they need more characters and of course it's a little fake it's a video game. However I think there's a lot of things about it that are realistic though. When i'm playing another skilled fighter online I have to show them respect or they'll kmtfo like nothing. It becomes like a real match in the sense that you have to think (like a boxer) about what your ganna do, try to lure the guy in, press the fight, make adjustment accordingly.

Have you played VB2 or Boxer's Road 2? If you're a real boxing fan, you'd change your mind pretty quick. Though yeah I wish the games had an online mode.

I'd rather they had left out the oldddd guys like Ali and Robinson and maybe you could have unlocked the legends in career mode.

Sticking the same fighter in more than 1 weight class is ****ing poor.

Not having the p4p #1 fighter in the world on the game is also ****ing poor.



They should have had Tyson, Lewis, Mayweather, Hamed, Calzaghe, Klitschko those kind of fighters.

The whole lack of characters thing I look at as a marketing strategy. EA does it with all their games; They’ll fix up something real nice and promote it, but they leave you something to crave. So Rd 4 will probably have more characters but make minimal enhancements on game play or career mode or whatever it may be any given year.

As far as VB2 or Boxer’s Road2 go, no I haven’t played them. Whether I like them better than FN3 or not doesn’t make me any less of a boxing fan. As I said, I’m not a big video game fan. I’ve mastered FN3 and that’s all I really play. I’ll definitely check those games. I've played the first VB and I liked it at the time, the thing that gets me with the EA also is the fact that its real fighters and of course the online.

it does matter if you're a real boxing fan or not. br2 and vb2 cater to boxing fans more while Fight Night caters to fools more. VB2 being more of a boxing sim than an actual boxing game with licensed boxers should tell you all you need to know.

Did you ever play Greatest Heavyweights or The Ring Middleweights game, both on Sega and SNES I think. Both had lots of real boxers, but both games basically sucked. Actually seems like they were basically the same game. HBO Boxing, KO Kings, etc had real fighters, but KO Kings 2001 was the only worth while KO Kings game. Fight Night, psh, they're all mostly garbage. Why do you care if it's licensed fighters if they don't even fight like themselves? Look at KO Kings 2002, you got every ****ing person on the entire game fighting like Muhammad Ali, including DLH, Klitschko, and even ****ing Butterbean, lmao.

Don't get me wrong, EA boxing titles are still better than Ready 2 Rumble and Rocky and crap, but they're still nothing close to sim boxing. It's still basically arcade boxing. Doesn't mean it can't be hard and can't require good gaming skill. Darts and Pool take a certain amount of skill, but they're not sports. Fight Night can take skill, especially against human players I'm sure, but it's no boxing sim. And a true boxing fan will appreciate the boxing sim more than an arcade game. That's all I'm saying.

I'd have to agree that BR2 doesn't make their characters look all that flashy, but that doesn't even matter when the gameplay is pretty solid. There are are couple things I would add (online mode, switch between block/sway if you don't have that special move set), but it's still a great game.

Well there is actually a way to play online, but I still need to try it out.

Fight Night is decent. Round 2 had way more characters, but their Mayweather sucked.

Fight Night Round 2 was much better than Round 3. I can't get over just how slow R3 is. I've only played it two times since I've owned it.

I actually picked up the first fight night over the 3rd because it was more fast paced and more entertaining at some points.

If you guys wanna see how realistic Fight Night rd3 can be meet me online PS2, my user name is Tsotsi. I'll boxing circles around you and if you make an adjustment i'll adjust to that too. I only play online, any game becomes real fake after playing the computer for a short time, especially sports games. I tried those other boxing games and they just dont do it for me.

Personally I thought rd2 game play was much slower than rd3 and more dependent on the haymakers. They toned that down a bit in rd 3 which allows you to box more.

YEa man... The straight right in the game is like a jab. They should fix that up.. Even though the career is not all that. FIght Night is a good game to play when your boys are around.

Fight Night Round 2 was so kick ass, and Fight Night Round 3 is so horrible. The game play is so sloppy and slow, and the whole zoomed in thing sucks. I really despise this game, and was thoroughly disappointed when it game out. When you parry a right hook or something, it takes 30 seconds to get back to being defensive, it's retarded.

And a few other things that piss me off about this game:

1. The Boxers: How god damned refreshing would it be to be able to use an active boxer? I'm so sick of Ali and Frazier being on the game, but Mayorga isn't on it, or Kermit Cintron, or anybody else worth actually playing with. It's stupid as ****, Ali is on every game, but Mayorga is lost between Round 2 and Round 3.

2. The KnockOuts: It would be amazing if you could throw a perfect punch and just put somebody out, you know, like in REAL boxing. I would pay to just throw a perfectly counter uppercut and just knock somebody out, even if it's there first time on the floor. You have to knock somebody down 3 times and they are done. There's barely any flash KO's, it just played out very badly.

I agree, there is so much they could have done to make this a better title.

They treated it like a throwaway..

Overall, the game is just way too easy and oversimplified.

The one thing that annoys me is that you can uppercut them cleanly like 50 punches in a fight and they don't get knocked out till the 3rd. You have to punch them about 200 times to the head to get anywhere, if anyone took 200 punches to the head in 12 minutes of boxing theywould be dead and the ref would have stepped in long before. The only time it is fun is when your playing your mates at the game. But saying that they have to know what they are doing or its just like playing the computer, aka lean and counter.

What I really hate is the 1 punch knockout. The slow punch that when it connects, immediately gets you into survival mode. That **** just isn't fair, they need to remove it in the next game, or have they already done that?

no it's not it's easy to pick and lean out the way then counter with your own putting them in trouble, should stay in for sure.

Fight Night Round 4 isn't even in productions as far as i am aware
