This dude probably cuts weight from 170-175. Mayweather doesn't cut weight and walks around at hsi fighting weight. Having said that, He would still whoop Sean's ass in a boxing fight. He is a little midget and would get schooled by Floyd Mayweather. His boxing skills are garbage...

Sean sherk is a health nut no soda at all or junk food he doesn't even drink beer.

This guy has to be careful though cause that kinda caveman workout can lead to overtraining and you can exhaust fast...remember his fight with GSP? He clearly showed signs of fatigue from over training.
you gotta be careful not to peak too soon before a fight.

Yeah, but Sherk said that is why he trains so hard. So that he never tires.

He obviously a physical specimen and I respect him for his whole routine but I still can’t make a judgement on how good a fighter he is. I thought he handled himself well against GSP and Karo but other than that, I don’t know, I wasn’t impressed with his performance against Florian and a lot of his fights against tomato cans didn’t impress me neither. . I don’t think he’d handle guys like Gomi, Sakurai, Melendez and Ribeiro.

He’s boring as **** to which never helps.

i find it funny that Sherk "called out" Floyd to abandon his HOF boxing career and fight in MMA.
If he was so confident, why wouldnt he challenge Floyd in a boxing match, and beat him at his own sport?
Im getting sick of this MMA calling boxers out to fight them in MMA bull****.

Exmutha****inxactly... **** submissions without them MMA wouldn't be sh*t.. That being said, if all these guys are so ****ing tough why aren't they boxers, which is the WORLD WIDE most recognized fighting sport...

Boxers are tough....HA!

Bruce Lee was tough!

Helio Gracie is tough!

Gene LeBell is tough!

Bas Rutten is tough!

You can't be tough until you control all aspects of a fight.

To rely on one is death.

You mean why don't they use bigger gloves, padding around the midsection, and fight limited to only using strikes from a standing position?

Yeah there's nothing tough about legal elbows in the mouth, knees to the head, or kicks to the legs is there?

Floyd was the one talking **** man. He said boxers could go in there and whoop ass so he was offered to back it up and he declined.

haha so true man, boxing fans just cant get over the fact that boxing is a boring sport after watching one ppv or a fight night in ufc or pride. All they have to back themselves up is how much money boxers make and thier "sweet science" they dont realize how much of a jackass they make themselves out to be.

No I mean what I said... Boxing not MMA is the WORLD Recognized top dog fighting sport, so why has there yet to be an MMAer to come over and take boxing by storm, as kick boxers (boxing) muy thai fighters (boxing) can learn some grappling and whoop ass in MMA? Why is that... I like both sports but I grow tired of the MMA vs boxing argument when everyone knows your favorite boxer "may" stand a chance in an MMA match, while your favorite MMA fighter will definately get his ass kicked in a boxing match... That being said if you take your blinders off which one is more of a legit sport, rather than a no holds barred cage fight... If the ability to effective strike is so underrated why isn't even involved in MMA if MMA fans love seing submissions so much... The submission game is cool, but appears to be a cope out for lack of hands... For the record you have never seen an MMA fighter look the way Joppy did after the Hopkins fight am I wrong?

Look I see exactly what you're getting at.

There's no possible way to deny the simple fact that boxing is a skill sport. Most MMA matches won besides the obvious ones by master strikers like Crocop involve Sheer aggression and physical strength.

And the submission game really is apples compared to stand up's oranges. You might think they go to the ground because they can't fight standing up......but that's sometimes the case and sometimes it's not.

many of these guys come from wrestling backgrounds and prefer to use their physical strength and leverage to simply manhandle their opponent. In boxing the idea is to hit and not get hit right? It's similar. A grappler closes the gap on someone and stays in let's use side mount for example. When you're on top of someone crossing them like a T formation........they have no way to effectively strike you outside of using hammer fists from a lying position that have zero steam on them. From there, you can figure out what limb you want to grab hold of, or figure out what position you want to get into so that you can pound your opponent out.

In a stand up fight, you have to concern yourself with getting hit by a blind punch when in reality nobody should be taking punches from someone wearing that small of gloves to begin with. It's almost like getting punched bare knuckle which in my opinion is much more ****ing devastating and painful. The added mass on gloves is like a cushion, and although a boxer's sheer punching skill will make up for the glove size.....it still doesn't change that simply physical fact.

As for Joppy......there is speculation that Tito wrapped his hands illegally by using more than the allowed amount of Gauze because you happened to pick the epitome of examples of someone getting battered in a stand up fight. That was also just a clear indicator if Tito didn't wrap his hands that everything we saw about his power was true.

Either way A mixed martial artist grappling and using defensive techniques on the ground that seem boring to the person who dislikes MMA can be compared to the boxer running around the ring like a fairy with no intention of fighting....just throwing arm punches to look pretty and win the fight.

That is a good post. But I mean there are basically two dimensions to MMA. Striking and ground game. You take a high level boxing athlete...train him for 9-12 months on wrestling and takedown defense and you would see he would be able to COMPETE much better then a wrestler turned boxer. 10 times out of 10.

Legend you've seen Mauricio "Shogun" Rua fight right?

Because I'm 100 percent sure you find him exciting if you have. A guy with that type of athleticism that throws flying knees around and can stand toe to toe and fight standing up is pleasing to watch by anyone.

I just can't see how it wouldn't be. And he's an example of a guy who doesn't always rely on his ground game even though he's skilled at it.

Cosign that ****. Shogun is a straight up beast. Top p4p MMA fighter, IMO. This is an example of an MMA fighter who really learned his craft. He is great almost everywhere. MMA fighters like this I have 100% respect for. THese guys are athletes.

BUt alot of the guys (most specifically in the UFC) are just tough, agressive kids. Not very athletic and not very skillful, just guys that want to mix it up and make some money doing it.
