View Full Version : All the gear, No Idea
twanky1 07-02-2007, 07:32 PM They show up to your gym, they go to your school, they prowl the forums......Rich Kids.
Im the average 16 year old Australian, I go to school and I go to work but im an orphan and I live with my Grandparents so money is a little harder to come by.
I guess the point of this thread is to express my anger at those people, you know the ones, that show up to your gym once every couple of weeks and dont seem to get any better but they're still able to sport the ' latest advancement in boxing technology" like the "SPEED TECH PRO 14145 SUPER BAG GLOVES" or the "UBER AIR GLIDE ULTRA-non-SLIP PIVOT PREMIUM BOXING SHOES".
While these kids may have $300 worth of gear, they still cower when a dedicated every-man like me flicks his $50 basic sparring glove into thier face. They cant seem to catch up with my cheap worn out sneakers either.
I see alot of these rich kids on this forum too, always talking about ridiculously expensive gear they just ordered, and yet, the vids of themselves that litter the forum are of raw beginners.
All you need to start boxing is a gym (most will supply gear) and maybe a heavy bag and some gloves at home. The only thing that will make you a better boxer is hard work and dedication, if you think $200 headgear is a substitute for a good defense your sadly mistaken.
While these kids with "All the gear and no idea" come and go maybe at your point in training you might benefit from boxing shoes, you might need that super-fast skipping rope. You have invested so many hours in training already so why not treat yourself to some new gear to make the coming hours that much more enjoyable.
Versastyle 07-02-2007, 07:39 PM You talking about Animal? But I do agree with you. I wear 1 pair of gloves, and 1 pair of shoes. Both combined cost only like 130 dollars. 2 dollar mouth piece, and 30 dollar head gear and 50 dollar cup.
I have all of these and Im still better then most of the ppl that buy **** loads of gear.
But I know your talking about animal. That dude buys waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much gear, you buy gear when the others get worn out. I think he buys just to have a collection. Pretty pathetic. He needs to work on more technique and skills and leave titleboxing and rindside.com alone.
Its better to brag about your boxing skills rather then brag about your glove collection, especially when you hardly spar.
True dat, Im using my wrestling shoes for boxing, My gloves are the $50 TKO gloves, and $45 Everlast Bag gloves. My gym supplies the rest
its frusterating to see people that are like "hey look at my new winning gloves" but dont use them
-Lesh- 07-02-2007, 08:28 PM People who buy alot of gear, but rarely uses them, just have low self esteem. (or just a small penis, but that kind of goes back to low self esteem)
Also, I've boxed for like a year now, and I use my everyday shoes while training, and I haven't even gotten a headgear yet (I ordered one like a week ago though... thought it was time). Also bought a $10 cup ... (oh, I haven't had any matches yet... so I haven't realy needed any shoes yet).
Oh well, aslong as you feel good while training, why should you get anything new? I mean, that just proves that you think the THOUGHT of being a boxer is way better then actually becoming one. Oh well, watcha gonna do?
(Oh btw, i'm from a average Norwegian wealthy family... which is probably alot wealthier then most average families in the U.S).
shawn_ 07-02-2007, 08:50 PM Dont you just love broad sweeping generlizations?

man **** you vers you arrogant ***got. Im tired of your primadonna ass tryin to take shots at me when I never even said anything to you. Mother****er Ive been going to gyms and training at home since I was 6!! Some of my gear Ive had for 15 years!! When I train at home I hit a canvas bag filled with bricks that HANGS FROM A TREE and alot of my gloves are worn out from that and covered in TREE SAP!! I have to keep gear for the home to get dirty and stuff for the gym. My gym doesnt have **** for gear, theres maybe two good gloves and one headgear to go around. Some of my gear has been given to me, and any extra spending money I have Id rather spend on Boxing than anything else like regular shoes or DVDs or whatever. Plus I have an explanation for everypeice of equipment I get (lace up sparring gloves, velcro sparring gloves for when theres no trainer to help me tie laces, 18 oz gloves for weight, gel bag gloves for protection etc). **** you man and get off Tysons dick cause you aint him.

Still no reason to have all that damn gear. You heardly even spar, yet you have all this gear. pretty pathetic. You probably have more gear then my whole gym.Being on Tysons dick could possibly make me some money. Collecting gear and saying you box and making essay's about it wont get you ****.
Show more videos of you working instead of typing essays and talking and bragging about gear you have. Its Training and Nutrition, not BRAG AND TELL.

where do I BRAG about my gear man????? all of you say that **** but I never just brag about my gear and anyway gear is part of training. I come from sherdog where there training section has a gear forum so I guess IM used to that. If anybody on here brags its YOU!!! You dont even know how to spar! You come talkin that bull**** that you're takin it easy even though you koin fools but 5 seconds into the spar youre LEAPING IN with WILD hooks!!!! You just want everyone to think "damn if thats what he does when hes takin it easy Id hate to see him in a real fight" eventhough when you did I hear you kept fallin and lost your ONE amateur fight. Your pompous and try to talk like youre the best out of everybody here and some kinda hot prospect, but youre only 0-1 as an amateur.
I know you can flip that and say I havent even competed yet but I'm not the one tryin to say Im the best. **** Im like 80 pounds over weight and my gym is ASKIN me to fight and Friday Ahunanya was gettin ready to fight Sedrick Fields and his manager wants me to spar him. If I just showed up to the gym to show off gear I doubt I would be gettin these offers. Also, Diego Corrales and Kelvin Davis have both told people I work very hard in the gym, thats good enough for me vers you can diss me all you want.
twanky1 07-02-2007, 11:01 PM Actually Vers, my post was spurred on by an Animal Squabbs post, but yes i am making wide sweeping generalisations.
Maybe Animal Squabbs just appears to be a rich kid with all the gear. Appearences may differ from the true Animal Squabbs, ****ty Gear with no Idea.

And your fat.Enough said,Im not reading all of that from some fatboy that talks about his spars threw essay. But I did skim threw.I never said Im the best, nor do I make threads typing essays on my spars.Who the hell wants to read all that bull****.You aint no World Champion to be typing about your spars and think ppl will find it interesting.hahaha. Run some miles then come brag to the board on how you improved on time.Instead of showing of gloves like its going to win you championships.:lol1:
And Im sure there is a reason why no one wants to spar your big ass. OOOH dont let me get started on the OWNING stick.I'll stop there.:tapedshut
David06 07-03-2007, 01:33 AM Just a few things from reading the thread:
1)This is true in every sport/hobby...I saw it when I played paintball...when I dabbled in DJ'ing...and now in boxing.
2)Animal Squabbs, you said that you hit a brick-filled canvas bag that hangs from a tree. WTF? I could almost understand this if you were dead broke but ****, you make posts like every other week about your new gear...why don't go a month or two without buying a pair of gloves and get a real heavy bag instead?
3)You don't really need many different types of gloves. I can see the need for bag gloves and sparring gloves, but I have no idea why you would need several pairs for bag work and several pairs for sparring. I mean do you really need lace up AND velcro gloves? You shouldn't even be sparring if there's not a trainer around.
4)If you were really that dedicated to boxing since you were 6...how in the hell did you end up 80 LBs overweight?
5)"where do I BRAG about my gear man?????"
Maybe not straight out bragging, but...

Yeah animal does show off about his gear. It dont bother me though as at least he spends his money on gear then tells me its **** so i dnt have to buy it.
All i've got for my gear is (i'll put it in dollars for the yanks as i live in london)
$50 ricky hatton lonsdales
$50 everlast sparing glove
$4 lonsdale wraps
$6 moutguard
$50 dollar head guard
boxing skill pricless.
All i'm trying to say is dnt be pissed by the kids with all the gear as it dnt mean **** when your punching someone.
And animal why is it you talk alot but never act like that fight u were meant to have but never happened and about that friday bloke why would he want to spar a overweight kid who's never even had a amature fight?

[Cartman]
My speech is entitled "Ginger Kids: Children with red hair, light skin, and freckles."
.....We've all seen them - on the playground, at the store, walking on the streets - they creep us out and make us feel sick to our stomachs.
I'm talking of course about... ginger kids.

He probably wanted a heavybag that could brief back how hard he was punching.
Anyways, Animal, yeah, you do brag. Get over yourself... I mean, you make like a thread each god damn week about new equipment that you wanna buy, and... why? Why do you have to tell everyone on this forum, that you're going to buy those items? Why can't you just wait till you've gotten them, and THEN make a thread about how the quality of i.e the gloves or the headguard is... also, you even post about the items you've gotten before you've even tried them! Hell, if I had just gotten a new pair of gloves.. (and with your usual order, probably some new shoes, headguard, mouthpiece, trunks, bandages, cup and one of those TV shop ab trainers), I would hit the gym right away, just to try them out... but instead you just log on your PC and post about them. geez, your sad.
Also, i've never seen a single post where VERSATILE2K7 brags...
Oh well...

MikeMcC 07-03-2007, 07:43 AM Perhaps you should at least admire their dedication to boxing. It shouldn't matter somone's income so long as they keep coming back to improve their skills. I'm sure if you had the income they did you would do the same.
I agree that it's annoying when people think that just by having the gear their skills are elevated, which they are obviously not. It won't ever change, so you either have to let it piss you off or just enjoy being able to beat them down and having spent less.
Don't let the gear queers get to you.
eazy_mas 07-03-2007, 08:48 AM it better to concentracte on you workout.
For me i dont give a damn if somone wears stoned shorts for sparring with dimond earing and chain that his **** to worry about.
focus on you goal and these other things you thinking just blurs you focus.
and yes i havent been training boxing for long time :D and even when i was training i wasnt that good they got me more then 2 month on the jab and all that **** that is more then the other guy who are in the gym and when i running with them those guy go turbo Lambo and i like a turtule.
i wanna buy some training stuff and things but only if i think it will make some usethe only thing that i bough about boxing is the wrap incase if my hands hurt
Trick 07-03-2007, 11:46 AM Ya you have that in a lot of sports man, like every one. In fact, I rarely see it in boxing, maybe cause my gym isn't so high class though.
Me, I keep it pretty cheap, I even use the ****ass headgear at the gym although that's getting gross... I do have a $75 pair of bag gloves though, I spent some money on those after ****ing up my hands with those **** ass everlast like 8oz ones. That's all I have though. Oh, and some old ass everlast sparring gloves.
I used to see that a lot more when I played soccer, kids showin' up in their like 200 dollar shoes who don't even know what the midfield is. Haha, but at least they'd get cut.
Just don't let it bother you man, who cares what they got?
And about this whole Animal thing, ya Animal, you do brag a little, but you're just really into your gear, so whatever, it doesn't really make my day any worse to read any of your posts about your new ****.
oh yeah i forgot to add i paid $5 for handwraps, and $20 for a mouth guard

-GBGQ- 07-03-2007, 02:21 PM Other than the Jordan Boxers which collect dust while I wear my Asics Fuerte's, the only expensive piece of equipment I have is my 175 dollar, dentist made, mouthpiece.
Yes, folks. I have to good looking of a smile too mess up.:nono:
Trick 07-03-2007, 02:25 PM Haha nah, I had like those Walmart ones with like the elastic strap.
