I'm gonna start sparring soon in boxing and i don't want to get in trouble cause its a free gym and i would hate to have to leave so i wanna know some rules that i'm not sure on.

1) in American/Wester boxing can you punch while in the clinch/tied up?

2) when breaking the clinch/tie up on your own and not by the ref can you punch comming out? like push off and fire a hook?

3) If the guy i'm sparring gets to roudy and i throw him will i get ****?

1) Yes. It's encouraged to box your way out of a tie up.

2) Yes as long as the ref didn't break you up.

3) Yes. you should say break or something when you're sparring
if the guy gets too out of hand. If he still goes at it then try to tie him up and wait for the coach to break it up. A throw should be the last resort. Any good trainer should be able to see what's going on and take care of it. If he doesn't then find a new gym.

My advice for a new gym would be to watch for a while and get a feel for how the guys work.

Curly Howard says it all. All I would add is that if you try to do some funky martial arts **** in a boxing gym, they tend to get pissed off. It's a boxing gym, so stick to boxing. It's a good sport.

I would love to go to a boxing gym then do a single leg takedown. Get into a mount and start unloading. But remember you could beat one of them, but you can't beat all of them.

Gman I would love to box with you.I'm not saying I could beat you but I could help you with your stand up. BTW I can switch between southpaw and traditional.

I was informed that in amature it is frowned upon to strike in a tie up and comming out of one but they said "protect yourself at all times" so i guess that means whatever.
