haha i started out liike that to..but i think its because i boxed my older brother ever since i was like 6 and all i new was hit wild and cover up..i dont hit wild anymore, but sometimes i cover up..but its growing out of me..just keep sparring and yell at yourself saying dont cover up, throw back! it should get it out of you after a couple of spars..

Just stick at it, your timing will improve as you go on so you wont get hit as much.

Boxers get hit. Swimmers get wet. You will get hit thousands of times if you take up this sport. If you think you can take it, welcome aboard. If you think you can't take it, you're probably right.

I mean no offense; this is one of the most physically, emotionally, and psychologically painful sports in the world and it's not for everybody.

That said,

Keep your chin down, but don't look at the floor. You should be able to see your opponent's eyes (not that you want to concentrate on his eyes, it's just a reference I use for posture.) And put your hands up higher if you have to. I carry mine so high that I look like I'm using binoculars. :boxing:
